yes, breaking the trust of the one girl you've ever loved and always will is a crime, but the guy is punishing himself too by staying away from his beloved, he'll pine for her, he'll suffer for her and will bear but i don't think so its greater than the murder and the aftermath of it.
for me, murder and rape remains the ultimate unforgivable crime.
