Chapter 9: Reassurances

Ragav graciously welcomes Kamla maa and Vithal into his house, thanks them for accepting his impromptu dinner invitation, and pats Sammy on the back, thanking him for going to pick them up. As they walk towards the sitting room, he calls out to Kalpi who is in the kitchen cooking dinner saying that aai and baba have arrived.

Sammy looks around and thinks to himself, "Looking at this room nobody would be able to say that a wedding took place a couple of hours ago." He shares a look with Ragav and gives him a cheeky grin.

Kalpi smiles and heads out towards them. Upon seeing her parents, she freezes... the reality of what took place in that same room hits her like a tonne of bricks. She would not be able to share her joy with her parents at present. Kalpi begins chocking on her emotions; Ragav notices this and quickly rushes towards Kalpi and guides her back into the kitchen, so that she can compose herself.

Kamla maa and Vithal look on confused as to what is going on and concerned, she gets up to follow them, when Sammy uses his charm and persuades Kamla maa to sit and enjoy the mehmaan nawazi... he continues loudly that Ragav is helping Kalpi bring some drinks and snacks.

Once Ragav reassures himself that Kalpi is okay, on cue he walks out with the drinks. He sets the tray on the table and charmingly informs Kamla maa and Vithal that today he secured the best deal in his life and that since Kalpi played an important part in securing this deal, he wanted to celebrate their success with her parents.

Kamla maa and Vithal look on proudly and Kamla maa says, "I am happy that Kalpi was able to help you with your emergency, Ragav baba..." she looks towards Vithal wanting to say more but hesitates and stops. She looks back at Ragav and smiles.

Ragav further adds that he would like baro ka arshidwaad and requests Kamla maa and Vithal to bless him for the success of this deal. Kamla maa and Vithal are touched and agree to this for as far as they know he has no elders.

Ragav bends to take the blessings, as Kalpi walks in with snacks and places them on the coffee table; he stops and turns towards Kalpi, looks at her; the only tale tell sign that they are married is the black thread around her neck.

He smiles reassuringly towards her and says, "Kalpi, why don't you take some blessings too, since you are working on this deal." Not waiting for any response, he grabs her hand and they take the blessings together as a couple.

Kamla maa and Vithal give their blessing, but look to each other communicating their unease for Ragav had just committed a faux pas.

As Ragav and Kalpi stand up, Ragav gives Sammy a pointed look and then looks at Kamla maa and Vithal. Sammy grins and cheekily says, "I too need blessings for this deal" and proceeds to take their blessings, thus distracting them and breaking the tense moment.

As Sammy continues to distract Kamla ma and Vithal, Ragav leads Kalpi back into the kitchen. He gazes into her eyes, caressing her face he sates softly "You are happy." Kalpi nods, her eyes reflecting her love for him, for she cannot believe how well Ragav knows and understands her, she simply states, "I love you."

With dinner out of the way and Kalpi is serving coffee with desserts, Ragav decides that now is the best time to make sure that Kamla maa and Vithal understand his intentions towards Kalpi and clear the all the misunderstandings.

He tells Kamla maa that Kalpi had informed him about the misunderstanding that took place over the marriage proposal. He takes Kalpi's hand in his and with eyes shining with love for Kalpi, he looks at Kamla maa and states that there is only one person he would ever marry and that that person is Kalpi. He further states that due to the misunderstanding Kalpi has requested that they extend the wedding date to clear this misunderstanding with Paakhi and that he has reluctantly agreed to this.

Vithal smiles, reassured that everything is going to be okay and that his Kalpi will marry the man she loves. Kamla maa looks on sadly for; her Paakhi is not going to get married to Ragav. She politely smiles and says, "Kalpi, what about my dream..." Vithal turns around and looks at her harshly; stopping her from continuing as Ragav watches Kalpi's smile falter.

Ragav and Sammy are sitting in the car watching Kamla maa, Vithal and Kalpi head into their home, when Sammy says, "Okay Ragav, now you can tell me why you had to marry Kalpi as soon as possible."

Ragav continues looking at Kalpi, until he cannot see her anymore, he then turns towards Sammy and with a hint of steel says, "Paakhi has always come first for Kamla maa and always at Kalpi's expense ... I don't trust Kamla am when it comes to choosing between Kalpi and Paakhi... losing Kalpi is not acceptable to me."

Ragav further adds to himself as he drives away, "Miss Kalpi Jhadav is now Mrs Kalpi Ragav Singhania, nobody can ever take her away from me."
