Hey guys! I'm back with another surprise update. I thought I wouldn't post till after my exam on Wednesday but I couldn't help it! 😆 So here is a little attempt on my behalf to make this RagNa-less weekend a little more RagNa-licious! 😉 I hope you'll like it! So here's presenting Chapter 9:
Chapter 9
Kalpana flopped down onto the sofa hoping that watching television would keep her mind diverted from thinking about Raghav. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and she wasn't going to waste it with unnecessary thoughts that would only make her more upset. She sipped on some hot chocolate as she browsed through the channels. "Why is there nothing good showing?"- Kalpana thought impatiently as she switched from one channel to the other.
As she was flipping through the sports channels, a telecast of a cricket match caught her attention. It took her a few seconds to realize that it was a repeat telecast and not a live match. She was just about to change the channel when she noticed a familiar face on the screen. "Raghav!"- she whispered, her voice barely audible.
It was not like Kalpana had never seen him play before. But all the previous times, he had just been another cricket player. But today felt different, maybe because now she knew him.
Kalpana studied him for a while. The way he spun the ball. The way he caught the ball. She watched as he guided his teammates across the pitch. The way he interacted with the umpires. The way he strategized with his captain. She was in complete awe. His passion for the sport was really admirable.
"Enough!"- she shouted at herself mentally before throwing the remote at the sofa opposite her. "I can't even watch television without being reminded of you!"- she screamed at the television set before switching it off.
Kalpana kept herself busy the rest of the day by keeping herself occupied in office work. Even though she had weeks before the report was due, sitting idle was not an option.
Exhausted from the day's work, Kalpana decided to go to bed early as she knew it was going to be a hectic day at work the following day.
The next morning, as Kalpana was leaving her apartment to go to work, she noticed a similar yellow rose, just like the one she had received the previous day. However this time with a different message. She smiled seeing the note which read: Please forgive me. This time, Kalpana didn't have the heart to throw the rose away. Placing it inside a vase filled with water, she ran her fingers gently over the petals before heading off to the office.
This carried on every day for the next two weeks. Each morning, Kalpana would find a single yellow rose but with a different message. But each time she tried, she wasn't able to meet Raghav. Even when she felt his presence, he wasn't anywhere to be seen. She knew she could simply call or message him, but it wouldn't be the same thing. They had to speak face to face.
So finally one morning Kalpana got lucky. She was up early keeping a lookout outside the apartment through the door's peephole. After keeping watch for almost half an hour, she spotted Raghav walking towards her door with a yellow rose in his hand. She yanked open the door only to come face to face with an astonished looking Raghav. She finally had him.
"How long were you planning on doing this?"- Kalpana demanded placing her hands on her waist. "Jab tak tum mujhe maaf nahi kar deti."- Raghav replied, unable to look her in the eye. "Isme maafi ki kya baat hai? You were just being a good neighbour."- Kalpana replied calmly. The last word stung him.
"Look, can we please talk inside?"- Raghav asked her, almost begging. Kalpana turned around and walked back into the apartment with Raghav at her heels. "Bolo, kya bolna hai tumhe."- she said indifferently.
Raghav noticed the vase filled with the yellow roses on the dining table. He felt hopeful. "About that day, I didn't mean what I said. It came out all wrong. I just want to apologize. I don't see us as neighbours. We're much more than that..."- Raghav explained.
When Kalpana didn't respond, he continued saying," That day was special Kalpi. I know it. You know it. I didn't mean for it to end in such a way. I would do anything to change that. But I can't. But you can forgive me. We can start over."
Kalpana still stood there silently. "Say something. Your silence is killing me."- Raghav pleaded. When she still didn't react, Raghav lightly held onto her arms, looked into her eyes and whispered," I know I hurt you. I brought tears in your eyes. But I'm going to do everything to make it up to you. I promise."
Pulling herself away from Raghav, Kalpana let out a sarcastic laugh. "Don't bother about me. I'm sure you meet many ordinary girls like me every other day. I'm no different. Please don't waste your time on me. I'm sure you have more important things to do."- she said looking away.
"Please don't say that. You're important too. And you're no ordinary girl. You're special, to me."- Raghav replied softly. "Why this sudden affection towards me? Till yesterday, I was your neighbour and now I'm special?"- Kalpana questioned.
"BECAUSE I'VE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH YOU DAMN IT!"
How was it? 😃 I hope the surprise update was worth it! 😊 I'll be back with another update on Wednesday after my exam. Till then, enjoy the Mahasangam! 😉
