The next morning Kalpana woke to a crack of thunder. She immediately took a look at the clock only to see that it was 4:30 in the morning. She went over to the window and immediately shut it so that no more water could come inside from the rain.

No longer feeling sleepy, she put on her slippers and went downstairs. She noticed that it was still silent down there and flinched when one of the steps creaked. She wasn't in the mood to wake anyone up.

She prepared herself a cup of sweet coffee and took a seat on the couch.

"Hey Kalpi" Raghav said, startling Kalpi.

"Raghav?" she asked looking up in surprise. He was standing right before her bright and awake.

"You awake this early?"

"No, I just can't sleep" Raghav replied, sitting down next to Kalpi.

"Dreaming about me?" Kalpi joked, before taking a sip out of her cup.

"Maybe" Raghav teased.

"Want to marry me anytime soon?" Kalpana asked casually. Her fingers played with her hair as she waited for his answer.

"Whenever you say" Raghav said, smilingly. "This Raghav is all yours."

Kalpana chuckled nervously and said, "Then I am afraid it won't be anytime soon, Raghav."

She waited silently for Raghav's reaction, but to her surprise he didn't look too shocked.

"I have just started my career Raghav" Kalpi said.

When Raghav didn't say anything else she added, "I don't want people to think I made it to success because I am with you."

"Then you should go" Raghav said to her. "We can marry anytime, you know."

No matter how casual he tried to seem normal, Kalpana could see the hurt in his eyes.

"You're okay with that?" she asked him. "I mean I love you Raghav, but.. try to understand."

"I'll deal with it" Raghav responded, not quite meeting her eyes. "I can wait for you my entire life."

"Thanks" Kalpana said. Yes. She was kind of guilty, but she couldn't back off right when her dreams were coming true. There are things more than love in life. Well, that's what Kalpana felt at the moment.

"So when will you be moving out?" Raghav asked finally.

"Tomorrow" Kalpana replied immediately.

"Wow.. that's unexpected" Raghav remarked.

"I know it is, but now I don't want to live here before I get married to you" Kalpana said.

"Fine" Raghav said getting up. "I'll tell Tanya to help you pack."

"No, I'll manage" Kalpana said also getting up.

"Fine."

"Sir, I think you should REPLACE her!" Sonia yelled for the hundredth time. "I am telling you, she ain't comin' back!"

"This show has just started and how can we afford to lose our main lead?!" one of the directors asked in frustration.

"Then have me take her place!" Sonia said desperately.

"What about your place?" he asked.

"Someone else can play it" Sonia said.

"Fans will SPIT on their tv screens if that happens" one of the cast members said. "Have you ever seen that happen on T.V.?"

"I think they're right" Durga told Sonia quietly. "I am with you, but I don't think that would work."

"Fine then, get Kalpana killed onscreen and make me lead-"

"ENOUGH!" Kalpana thundered from the doorway. Everyone turned to look at her.

"Sir, how can you listen to her bakwaas!" Kalpana yelled angrily. "She's insulting your lead character!"

"I-"

"YOU!" Sonia yelled angrily as she ran head-first into Kalpi, making them both fall to the ground.

"What the hell?!" Kalpana shouted. She struggled to push Sonia off of her. "Someone get this drama queen off of me.." Kalpana said.

"How anyone even let you enter in this place is a shock to me." Kalpana told Sonia, as she scratched Sonia's cheek to make her hurt.

"Owww.." Sonia said rolling over, and putting a hand to her cheek. She saw blood.

"How dare you Kalpi?" Sonia asked, as Durga rushed up to her and dabbed a cloth on her face.

"Girls enough" the director ordered. "Sonia, I think you are going overboard in your thirst for attention. I will make sure that the next track in this show finally gets rid of you."

"Sir-" Sonia started to say.

The director shook his head. "I've seen enough to know what to do."

Sonia glared at Kalpana through clenched teeth.

Kalpana who was breathing heavily, glared back at Sonia in anger.

Kalpana got up and said, "Thank you, Sir."

She gave Sonia one last look of disgust and shook her head. "I never wanted this Sonia, but I think this will teach you a good lesson."

With that, Kalpana strode out of the room leaving everyone speechless.

A week later, Kamla and family were busy in Raghav & Kalpi's engagement preparations.

Raghav had managed to convince Kamla Ma with his charm, and had found a strict mother in her. Kamla was more happy by the fact that Kalpi was getting married to a rich man rather than that she had found a true lover. Either way she had accepted Kalpana's career as long as Raghav was by her side and promised Vitthal not to create any more problems.

Vitthal had been more than happy to see his daughter and future Son-In-Law arrive at his doorstep. He had given them both his fatherly blessings and had welcomed Raghav with open arms. He had no problem with their relationship.


Paakhi and Sammy were delighted to know that Kalpana and Raghav had finally seen a life partner in each other. Somewhere in them, Paakhi and Sammy saw themselves. In those days that were spent preparing for Kalpi and Raghav's marriage, Paakhi and Sammy's bond grew even stronger as they got more attached to each other. Paakhi saw Sammy as more than just a first crush. He was her love by then.




"I can't believe that my best friend is finally getting engaged today" Paakhi whispered into Kalpana's ear, as they walked down the steps for the ring ceremony.

Kalpana was dressed in a beautiful pink dress that Raghav had chosen specially for her. A stylist had curled her hair for this special occasion and they rested delicately on her shoulders. The softness and the simplicity of the make up only enhanced Kalpi's beauty.

As Raghav's eyes rested on his lady love, his lips formed a smile on its own. She was looking more beautiful than ever. It couldn't be real. It seemed so much like a fairy tale.

As Kalpana went down the steps, Raghav's heart raced faster and faster. His breath seemed to have stopped and his eyes lingered on Kalpana as she got closer and closer.

Sammy nudged Raghav in the ribs to make him realize where they were and Raghav seemed to choke.

"Stop behaving like a flirty teenager." Sammy whispered into his ear. "Act real, today is your engagement bro."

"Stop pestering me Sammy!" Raghav snapped at him. "It is my engagement so at least spare me today."

"Fine" Sammy said.



Before they knew it, in those few moments Raghav had slipped a diamond ring on Kalpana's finger and Kalpi on Raghav's.

Kalpi just looked down shyly as news reporters took pictures of Raghav and Kalpana.

One of them asked for them to stand together for a good picture.

Raghav obliged and put a protective arm around Kalpana. "Smile" Raghav whispered.

Kalpana did not need telling for she had already been smiling. That's what she had been doing all day long.

"You look gorgeous" Raghav said, as they stood there.

"You look not too bad yourself, Mister!" Kalpana said quietly.


Just then a reporter started to ask Raghav some questions. How Raghav and Kalpi met. How did they fall in love?? All kinds of questions.

Kalpana patiently stood there next to Raghav as he answered their questions one by one.

"Excuse me, I would like to say something to my Kalpana in front of the whole world" Raghav finally said.

The reporter agreed and motioned for Raghav to go on.

Raghav turned to Kalpi. "I have fallen in love not with an actress, but with a beautiful and ordinary girl." "That's the way I first saw you and that's how I first started loving you. For who you are."

Kalpana listened to him as her eyes watered at the words Raghav said to her.


"All I want to tell you on this day Kalpana is.." Raghav paused and took a hold of her hands. "You Are a Star." "You are my Star, Kalpana!" ❤️
