Part 14

Days went by and Kalpana went to work during the day while she rehearsed and rehearsed in the evenings and a few hours in the night.
Sammy allowed her to skip her work when needed so she could go for rehearsals. Of course Kamla was unaware of that. She wouldn't want her money to go to waste just for Kalpana's dream.

One day Sammy and Paakhi asked to go and watch her rehearsal but Kalpana shook her head. "You will watch on the actual day only." She was really happy as the play was tomorrow. "Sammy you will record everything right?" she asked him happily. "Yup don't worry!" he assured her.
She covered her face unable to control her smile. "Paakhi! Tomorrow it is!" she exclaimed hugging her best friend. Paakhi patted Kalpana's back. "I am proud to have a friend like you" she murmured.

A few days later:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, now it is time for the play to begin. All the actors have put in all their effort and time into this working extremely hard."

Kalpana came onto the stage looking extremely beautiful. She had a huge smile on her face and she also looked excited.

Anyone who was observing her carefully could tell that her eyes were searching for someone hopefully. She looked at Sammy who showed her the camera he had brought.

Raghav pressed the pause button on his remote control. He wanted to take in Kalpana's beauty. She was looking stunning and breathtaking.

He cursed himself for not being there himself.

Raghav went up to the T.V. screen and ran his hand over the hard surface of it. Kalpana. That is all he had ever wished for.

He sighed as his sister Tanya came over from the kitchen with two cups of coffee. "Bro come on let's watch Kalpana's performance" she said eagerly.

Raghav nodded at his sister and went back to sit on the couch by her.

Tanya looked at the screen and saw that Raghav had paused the video on Kalpana's face. She felt bad for her brother that he had been rejected by the person he loved.

She picked up the remote control and pressed play.

As the video went on Raghav was quite impressed by the way Kalpana carried out her dialogues and scenes. It was all wonderful.

"Isn't she good?" Tanya asked her brother. Raghav nodded not able to take his eyes off the screen.

After the video had ended Raghav's phone started ringing. "How was it?" Kalpana asked him eagerly through the phone. Raghav grinned. She must've been counting the minutes for him to finish watching the video. 😳

"I am speechless" Raghav said proudly. "Sach?" Kalpana exclaimed. "Mera thoda boht asar toh hona hi tha tum par" Raghav joked. "Raghav you are just too much!" Kalpana said with a pout.
"Okay now serious Kalpi, I can't believe you hadn't a serial yet. Because by now you would've gotten a movie offer."
"Stop joking" Kalpana said.
"No I'm serious" Raghav said honestly. "I'm an actor so I can understand another actor very well. You would make a great actress I swear!"

On the other end Kalpana's eyes filled with tears. "But what's the use of this talent anyways..in the end I will be called a business woman only."

"Who said that?" Raghav asked. "You are young right now and you shall get started on your acting career immediately!"

Kalpana shook her head aware that Raghav couldn't see. "I am not allowed to" she whispered loudly.

"Kalpi-" "Ok Raghav bye" Kalpana said quickly hanging up.

Raghav looked down at the phone silently. "What's wrong bro?" Tanya asked.

"Tanya she will never get to fulfill her dreams like this" Raghav said frustratedly. "She needs to step out of Bhopal and take a good look at the world around her. She'll see people fulfilling their dreams."

"Bro it seems like she is under pressure by her family" Tanya said thoughtfully.

"I don't care!" Raghav snapped. "All I know is that she'll have to come here!"

Kalpana sat down on her bed thinking about her dreams. She could go to Mumbai and fulfill her dreams however her family would never accept her back. The society she lived in didn't allow for girls to become actresses.

But then why should she care what society thinks? Isn't this life hers? Doesn't she get to make a few decisions of her life by herself?
Just because the society had made some illogical rule that they thought all had to obey?! She had her own opinions on matters and just because it differs doesn't mean that she is wrong!
How would it be..if she showed them all that one can make their dreams come true by fighting for oneself? Kalpana smiled to herself. Raghav had just turned on a light bulb inside her head.

"You what!" Kamla asked in shock. "I will make my dreams come true mom!" Kalpana said. "This is the first time you have raised your voice up against me" Kamla said in disbelief. "I should've done this a long time ago mom!" Kalpana yelled.

Pakhya and Vitthal looked at each other. The time had come. When Kalpi could bear Kamla's torture no longer.

Vitthal and Pakhya smiled proudly at Kalpana.

"Bewakoof ladki!" "Meri naak kaat kar rahegi tu!" Kamla cried out.

Kalpana shook her head. Kamla still worried more about society than her.

Kalpana walked up to her father and grabbed his hand. "Baba do you think I am taking the wrong decision?" Vitthal placed a hand on her head and shook his head. "No I think you are right by taking this step."

"You just shut up!" Kamla hollered at Vitthal. She grabbed Kalpana by the arm. "You look girl! I am not letting you out of this house! Business karna kar nahi toh bas!"

Kalpana looked away angrily.

Kamla got her signal. "Fine! If that's what you say..then I must!"

Kamla dragged Kalpi to her room and pushed her in. "Teen vakt ka khaana milega taaki tum marr na jaao!" Kamla said loudly.

"Kam-" Vitthal started to protest. "You don't have a say in this matter Vitthal! You and Pakhya stay out of it!"

Vitthal looked helplessly at his daughter.

PRECAP: The heroine for Raghav's new film has suddenly fallen ill.
He suggests Kalpi to the director who shakes his head saying "I understand your emotions Raghav but we can't accept a newbie."
