Part 10
Prem comes home drunk and swears to insult Kalpi. What does that 2 penny worth of girl think of herself and relates everything to Neetu. Neetu decides to mess with Kalpi's result and pays examiner to take out her 3 supplements.
Neetu POV: This is what you get Kamla for stealing Pookie, I will ruin Kalpi's future and avenge my chocopie's insult. Haha I'm so clever, two hits with a single arrow.
Rahul and Kalpi are arguing since Rahul is leaving to Delhi for 2 weeks.
K: Oh, so you are running away from results and me! Can't see me kicking your backside in studies AGAIN?
R: You and dad seriously! No there are important filmmakers coming to this seminar in Delhi and I want to attend to get good recommendation letters. Happy, or you want more elaboration, Meri Ma?
K: Fine, I will miss your ears to drag to mandir too.
Rahul glares at Kalpi and she glares right back for a minute; then both start laughing and stating they will miss each other.
1 week has gone and it is exam day. Kalpi feels confident yet had a strange feeling of bad omen as did Ma and Kamla.
At college
Kalpi just found out she failed and goes numb. Dean of college is shocked too and has her paper rechecked but with missing supplements, he doesn't realize the injustice of the situation. Kalpi feels she is in alternate world, Pakhi came first, and she failed; it felt like someone was playing a sick joke. She doesn't have guts to face her family, phone her Ma or call Rahul. She sits on the bench looking like a clueless child.
Raghav keeping an eye out for the Kapoors and Yadhavs feel bad for Kalpi. He sought to relieve his brain out of her thoughts by taking a night bike ride but destiny. He sees her and his heart goes out for her, all the spark, confidence and glow she radiated on the interview day was gone. He decided to push her to be her pillar, her motivation.
R: What happened? Over confidence drowned you...you failed and sitting her like a loser...
K: (shocked) You ... here at this time?
R: Why only you can be here at this time of night? I thought you had more guts. Besides, our deal is still on but now it will be twice as tough for you since you can't be called literate now.
K(angry): What do you think of yourself? I know I did good and I can't fail...not the way I did.
R(pushing her further): Then why you here, go make coffee because you can't get married (since you start work with me) or commit suicide since that is against your upbringing.
Kalpi turns around when he is bashing her and is about to give her a piece of her mind but he leaves before she can. Kalpi then calls Ma and relates the situation who took bash her for not going home and facing her failure with dignity and striking back. Ma decides to book a ticket to Mumbai.
K POV: God seems like Ma and zka are related ughh...I will prove zka wrong and fight like Ma taught me. They should have cctv footage and I will get my papers rechecked.
Kalpi then calls Rahul, who screams at her for not calling before.
R: I'm coming there right now. We will go to college tomorrow together and sort this matter. There is no way in hell you failed. I know you and your capabilities. I trust you, so does Ma and apparently that zka of yours so why did you doubt yourself, pagal?
K: Gets teary with a smile thanking God for such a friend and Ma. He is not mine idiot! I just...you know aii's expectation... baba's trust...
Rahul understands her unspoken words and gives her courage.
Kalpi then gets ready to face her family and makes then understand something is at miss. Vitthal, Kamla and Pakya support her and shower her with support and love.
Next morning
Neetu arrives at chawl with Paakhi putting salt on Kalpi's wound and Kamla showering praises at Paakhi. Kamla is about to tell Neetu about Kalpi's fight back plan but Rahul intervenes and suggest Neetu and Pakhi to celebrate with a party. Both leave happy.
Rahul first lures examiner to see if he accepts bribe all the while secretly recording the conversation. Examiner knowing Rahul is rich agrees when Rahul threatens to expose him until he tells what happened with Kalpana's papers. Examiner relates that Neetu Kapoor gave him money to do so and this is brought to dean's attention. Kalpi is granted her rightful position as first and Pakhi as third. Kalpi thanks Rahul with so much gratitude in her eyes. Rahul tells her, it is his gift back for helping him pass college. Both share a laugh, Ma calls Kalpi and tells her she is in Mumbai at certain mandir. Kalpi tells her to wait there unknown to the fact that Kamla is at same mandir for Kalpi.
Kamla gets a pebble stuck on her foot, Juhi sees that and helps her bandage it.
K: Thank you Taii.
J: It is okay, just pray for my daughter. She is fending a huge fight today.
K:I'm sure she will succeed.
Kamla starts paying ofr Taii's daughter and Kalpi meanwhile a happy Kalpi comes and hugs Juhi from behind and starts twirling her. I passed first. I did it! I'm FIRST MA.
Kamla turns to see Kalpi beaming with joy and a degree in her hand.
Kamla: Kalpi, you here?
Kalpi: aai, I made it I came first. Kamla moves forward to hug Kalpi but Kalpi bends to touch her feet.
Kamla: I knew it beta. You will fulfill our dreams.
Kalpi: Aii, this is Ma, my Juhi Ma. Kalpi is grinning like a kid with its favorite toy while hugging Ma from behind and Juhi caressing Kalpi's arms. Kamla feels happy seeing Kalpi like this but wishes it was her Kalpi was hugging.
Juhi: How did this all happen?
Kalpi then relates the whole story and all are shocked to hear Neetu behind this. Kamla gets upset and decides to confront Neetu but is held back by Kalpi. Aii, it is sorted! It doesn't matter. I still have a job and my self-confidence is back, I'm sure she will back for her deeds in due time. You only taught me to forgive people and see the good in people, even when they least deserve it.
Both moms feel proud of Kalpi.
Rahul enters mandir and is introduced to Ma, who recognizes him in a jiffy. Rahul says thanks to your dramatic life, I got an internship in Dubai but I got to leave tonight. Our result fiasco made media coverage and everyone is insulting the Kapoors since media is displaying cctv footage of Neetu Kapoor bribing.
Here are the keys for the apartment, you asked for and I expect payments on time (winks Rahul).
Kamla and Juhi are confused by this interchange. Kalpi explains that Rahul was leaving Mumbai regardless of this internship and she decided to rent his studio apartment for Ma till he doesn't come back.
Kalpi's phone rings, it is warden from women's shelter. She tells Kalpi to take care of her Ma and she is extremely proud of her. Kalpi asks why what is wrong with Ma? Warden is about to tell her but Kalpi's battery gets out of charge.
K POV: The phone had to die right now; I will have to wait till I get home.
At Raghav's home
S: Kalpi passed, she came first. How did you know there was foul play?
R: I spent some time with Kapoors but didn't think they would stoop so low. Prem blamed Kalpi for stealing when I was living there. I thought I related that affair to you.
S: You did, bet she was grateful then and now. You like her hero then and now. Her superman, batman nah she seems more of ironman fan.
R: Uff Sammy! I'm no one's superhero and those are fictional characters.
S: okay fine, check these pictures. The dean of college sent them to see which one you approve for the media.
R: None!
S: Come on dude, I promised one just look through them.
Raghav looks at the pictures and suddenly sees one where in the background his dancing angel's face isn't masked. He picks that picture and looks more carefully.
R POV: mine...she isn't mine...I don't even know her name let alone how she looks. OMG, it is ...it is Kalpi. Raghav eyes go big as saucers.
R: It is Kalpi! How could I not know? When did she learn to dance so gracefully? (He goes in Flashback.)
Sammy (confused): What are you talking about. I will get you a drink, looks like you could use one.
R POV: Stop it Raghav. She is your employee, you got your goals and she got hers. This stupid school boy infactuation will lead you both astray. That is it , I will push her away! How dare she try to break my wall.s Who does she think she is...she can't win against Raghav Singhania.
