Part 8
"Pakhi" whispered Kalpana.
"Kalpi!" cried Pakhi "Where are you?I have
been looking for you everywhere.It's almost
been a full week since you've gone missing.I
called the police..the detectives but no one can
find you!Where are you?"
"P-Pakhi..I don't know where I am...I only know
I have been kidnapped"
"Kidnapped..but who kidnapped you and more
importantly why?"
"Pakhi..R-Raghav kidnapped me"
"Raghav!That bas***d!"
"Pakhi remember Panther...the criminal you told
me at the party...it turned out that Raghav was
Panther" Pakhi gasped.Kalpana explained how
Raghav kidnapped her and forcefully kept her with
him.She told Pakhi everything not leaving out a
detail.
"Kalpi,where are you..just tell me and I'll help
you escape"
"I-I don't know Pakhi" said Kalpana on the verge
of crying from frustration of getting caught every
time she tried to escape.
"Don't worry Kalpi..this call is being traced by
a detective"
"What...really"
"Yes..soon I'll come and save you Kalpi"
"Please come soon Pakhi"
"I will..now take care"
"Bye"
Kalpana cut the call a happy that there was a
chance she would be free.Suddenly she heard
the door knob moving.Somebody was trying to
open the door and was succeeding too.'Raghav'
thought Kalpana.She quickly hid the phone under
her pillow and stood up.Raghav opened the door
and came in.
"How did you come in?The door was locked"
asked Kalpana.
"I have keys to every room in this mansion"
answered Raghav.
"Of course" mumbled Kalpana.Raghav stared at
Kalpana and looked around the room.She began
fidgeting wondering why he was looking
around.'Did he find out I took his mobile and
called Pakhi' thought Kalpana.She decided to ask
him "Um..what's wrong Raghav...are you looking
for something?"
"Yes" answered Raghav.Kalpana turned pale. "I am
looking for the reason you kept your door
locked"
Kalpana gulped and then smiled "I am a woman"
Raghav raised an eyebrow "I need my privacy with
or without reasons"
"I see...well okay..I will leave you with your
privacy" said Raghav not fully convinced.He left
and Kalpana gave a sigh of relief.She hoped Pakhi
would come soon.
A man came into her room "Maam,there's a
parcel for you downstairs"
"For me?" she confirmed.The man nodded and
left.
Kalpana went downstairs.There was another man
with a parcel impatiently waiting.He was covered
fully with a hat which seemed larger than his
head.He wore black gloves and had black
sunglasses on.Kalpana walked up to him and he
shoved the parcel into her hands with a separate
letter.He said in a muffled voice "The letter is for
Panther and the parcel for you" He left.
Kalpana took the parcel to her room.She looked at
the letter wondering if she should open it or
not.She decided not to and went to Raghav's
room.He was shuffling through his cupboard.She
wondered if he found out about his missing
mobile.She decided not to ask and patted his
shoulder.Raghav turned around quickly
surprised. "This is a letter for you"
"Oh" was the only thing he said.He took the
letter from her and looked at it curiously.He
looked back at her "Thanks"
Kalpana nodded and went back to her room.The
parcel was lying on the bed.Kalpana walked to the
box and opened it wondering what it was.She
grinned.It was a box of jalebies...her favourite
sweets.Kalpana ate one and relished it.'So good'
she thought to herself.She moaned eating it.She
took another and another.She did not notice the
movement happening below the jalebies.Raghav
suddenly burst through the door breathing
heavily with a letter scrunched in his hand.He
raced to her and threw the box of jalebies on the
ground far away from her.Kalpana stood up in
anger and shock "Why did you throw away my
jalebies?" she demanded.
Raghav turned to her,his expressions showing
nothing but anger.He held her elbow and
dragged her towards the pile of jalebies on the
box. "Do you see that movement" he asked
pointing to the moving pile.Kalpana scrunched her
eyebrows wondering what was it.The object
moved further and finally revealed itself.It was a
scorpion.Kalpana widened her eyes and covered
her mouth with her hands.Raghav turned towards
her "If you pay the slightest attention Kalpana,it
would be a great pleasure...did you once
wonder who sent you that parcel and why..no
you didn't..who knows instead of thescorpionit
could've been poison in the jalebies"
Kalpana pushed Raghav away in anger "Well how
was I suppose to know a harmless jalebi can be
so harmful to me...you know what..I have
noticed..ever since you kidnapped me I have
been in nothing but danger all thanks to
you...before you ever entered my life do you
have the slightest idea how happy I was..NO
YOU DON'T..because for you I was time pass
right?Anyways coming to the present,it's either
another kidnap,held at gun point,poison in my
food,and even a scorpion living in my surprise
parcels" Kalpana screamed "WHY DON'T YOU
JUST LET ME OUT OF THIS DANGER WORLD
AND LET ME LIVE IN MY SAFE WORLD?"
Raghav grabbed Kalpana and screamed back "I
CAN'T..THE WORLD YOU ARE THINKING IS
SAFE IS EVEN MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE
WORLD YOU ARE LIVING IN RIGHT NOW..DO
YOU EVEN HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA OF
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO HUNT
YOU DOWN..THOUSANDS..MILLIONS...DO YOU
HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION
THEY WANT FROM YOU?THE INFORMATION
THAT YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE OR KNOW...AND
THEN YOU KNOW WHAT THEY'LL DO..THEY'LL
KILL YOU-"
"What kind of information" asked Kalpana
confused.Raghav stopped realizing he was
revealing many things to her.He let go of her and
stepped back.He looked away and closed his
eyes.Raghav took a deep breath and yelled
"SERVANTS" The servants rushed in.Raghav
stared at them "Clear up this mess and kill the
scorpion and also throw it away" The servants
nodded and began cleaning.Raghav left the room
without a glance back at Kalpana.
Kalpana sat on the bed frustrated and closed her
eyes.She held her head.He had managed to
escape the conversation again.What was he
hiding?Why were people trying to hunt her
down?What information did they want?Kalpana
suddenly opened her eyes.How did he find out
so quickly there was a scorpian in the parcel.He
didn't even know she had got one.Then she
realized he had a letter with him.'What was in
that letter' she wondered.Was the letter and the
parcel combined together.She decided to find
out.Raghav was not in his room and had gone for
some meeting.She decided to check it out.She
sneaked in his room and checked his cupboard
first.There was nothing.She looked into the
nightstand's drawers.Also nothing.She looked at
the table next to the cupboard.She opened the
first drawer.There was the letter.Kalpana took the
letter and sat on Raghav's bed knowing he
wouldn't be back for a few hours.She unfolded
the letter and began reading it.
Dear Panther,
I took up your advice and did
as you told.I did my own work instead of getting
some fool to do it.I had come to your doorstep
with a parcel for your dear Kalpana.It's very
special,I must say.I did my research and it told
me she loved jalebies so I thought why not give it
as a gift of being welcomed to a new
family.Obviously your family since she is your
girlfriend.I also found out she was an ex-
girlfriend of yours too.I wonder why you got back
together.Huh maybe it will be revealed some
day.Anyways speaking of revealing,I have sent a
parcel to your dear girlfriend Kalpana of sweet
jalebies.She must be opening it or maybe even
eating it now.There's also a very special gift
underneath it.I guess you can say a small
pet.Hope she likes poisonous scorpions.Enjoy!
Yadav
Kalpana gasped.Who was this Yadav?Wasn't he
the one who had sent poisonous syrup with her
food the previous day.Why was he after her life?
'Great' thought Khushi 'First it was that Suryesh
and now it's some Yadav'.She really didn't
understand how the world she thought was safe
could be dangerous from what Raghav said.She
wondered if he was lying.She folded the letter as
it was and put it back in the drawer.She went
back to her room and everything was
cleaned.The jalebies and scorpian..everything
was gone.Kalpana sat down on her bed and
closed her eyes trying to get some peace when
she heard Raghav shout for his servants.His voice
was quite loud and powerful.Kalpana decided to
check it out.
Every servant was standing in Raghav's
room. "Who took my mobile?I kept it in my
cupboard and now it's missing" Kalpana paled.He
had found out.Every servant looked to each other
and shook their heads at Raghav "WHERE'S MY
DAMN MOBILE?YOU SERVANTS ARE
RESPONSIBLE TO KEEP EVERY ROOM CLEAN
SO ONE MUST HAVE TOOK MY MOBILE"
Kalpana flinched hoping a miracle would happen
and he would forget he even had a mobile.She
didn't think this would be his reaction to his
missing mobile.Sam had seemed to hear it and
came to his room."What's wrong Panther?"
"My mobile isn't in my cupboard" said Raghav
gritting his teeth "I suspect one of these
servants took it but nobody is admitting it"
"No problem Panther..just buy another one"
"I can't damn it...that phone has many special
contacts" Kalpana raised her eyebrows in
wonder.She raced off to her room and took the
mobile from underneath her pillow.She decided
to look at his contacts list but had to stop when
she heard his threat "If nobody tells me where
my god damn phone is,I will kill everyone"
Kalpana didn't have to see to know he had taken
out his gun.She did not want the poor servants to
die because of one mistake of hers.She didn't
have time to look at the contacts.She
immediately raced to Raghav's room and sneaked
up behind Sam.She slipped the phone into his
pocket making sure he didn't notice "Um..how
about we check everybody's pockets" suggest
Kalpana.Everybody turned towards her.Raghav
nodded making the servants show their pockets
were empty."What's in your pocket Sam" said
Kalpana as she bravely took the phone from his
pocket.
Sam widened his eyes and whispered "What the
hell" Kalpana gave Raghav the phone.Raghav
dismissed the servants and turned to Sam.Sam
put up his arms and hands "I didn't do anything
Panther..I don't even know how that got in my
pocket" Raghav nodded and dismissed him.
He turned to Kalpana "Nice trick Kalpi"
