Hello people.

We've seen Kamla re-iterating the importance of education for a zillion times now. And we all know how important it is.

But the line that got me thinking is Kamla saying that education is a right.

Well yes, it is a right. Everyone who wants to study should be given the access to education. But then what about people who don't want to study or people like Kalpi whose parents' are so fixated with their children studying that they forget to teach them to enjoy life. What about such people's individual right to choose what they want?

There is definitely a difference between making something compulsory & making it a "right".

So, is education really a right? Or is it a choice? Or is it a privilege?

What do you guys think?

P.S. I actually liked Kamla's speech to that woman over the phone. It was inspiring in a way. I see why so many Indian politicians are uneducated or from the rural areas - its their ability to connect.
Anyone sees Kamla becoming a politician in the near future?

Cheers,
Samridhi

Well to be honest...
I had watched this show for the sake.. it talked about ek mutthi aasman.. and focus on this right..

When it comes to Kalpi.. Vitthal as well surprised me yesterday... Did he really want her daughter to be workoholic in office??

Now coming to the point.. You cannot remove fear of water, unless you force a person to take bath..!! Who likes studying?? Probably 10% people.. But that doesn't mean.. you will not study..!!
Education should be forced on people.. like laws.. But Purpose of it isn't necessary to make you think that you will be big memsaab someday.. but purpose is to broaden your views... To remove evils from society... All crap rituals.. which had formed out of no where... or some stupid incident... or even with some beautiful reason.. But.. Today the way, people views it is like... Dogmatic methods.. to restrict life.. All this can be eliminated only when person is educated.. and LEARNS to question.. Find reasons and bcome logical!!

Great topic! This forum needs more of such topics. Sadly, most of the topics discuss the lead pair only.
I personally see education as a choice. It really does boil down to whether we want to study or not. Yes, I can understand the need to make it compulsory at least till a junior level but beyond that, it should be a choice. You rightly pointed out that making something compulsory & making it a right are 2 different things.

I don't see it as a right mainly because I see rights as absolute (even though most rights are qualifying rights). And education is definitely not an absolute right. Most things in life are about hoices. Only absolute rights are real rights technically if you get what I mean.

I believe that education makes one literate, but it doesn't necessarily make us smart or broaden our horizons.

Great post! I wanted to discuss this. Kamla is also one if the principle charactera and what was shown today was in keeping witn the main theme of the show thats more about progress of underldivileged people
I feel education is a necessity. It is not a choice. I did not like going to school when I was little but that changed and education has shaped my personality.
Kamla's fault was not asking Kalpi what she wanted and pressurizing her but education is a great gift shs gave Kalpi.
I wonder if people do takd the positive message the show is trying to give.

Ohh wow such an important n beautiful topic indeed 👏👏👏...
We need to discuss on such a social issuez too...it will be different n refreshning 😃

I think Education should be 4th necessity of human being like food,shulter,cloth...education gives u a confidence, mental strength n boldness to tackle wid all kind of problems.. When one man learns only he himself learns but when one woman learns her whole family learns... & also education is a right of each n every women... & women should to recognize & use this right for her own & her family's secure future... 😃
Loved kamala's lecture on education n glad that cv's r still sticking to main concept of this show..👏👏👏

Education is a mandatory right .Given a choice most of the mango people would avoid school to do all the stupid things to kill boredom 😆 Being educated doesn't necessarily make one a better person, smarter or intelligent, it sure gives you lot of choice and broadens your mind to lot of possibilities. Take for ex kamalamma being uneducated wants her daughter to study well & become an independent strong women. On the other hand padi likhi Neetu wants her daughter to snare aamir admi as husband 🥱

Kamala has all the possibilities of becoming a politician which writers might explore when they have exhausted other tracks. I have no gripe about Kamala's speech, the scene was forced on us out of blue & felt disconnected. jest becaj its women's day tomorrow they wrote kamala's speech today. 🥱

yes education is a right and in india its primary education that is a right .After that a child cannnot be forced to study if he does not want to.He can choose what he desires to.and i feel its very important and it should be compulsory that everybody gets the primary education at least

coz a democracy can prevail only in a country where people r educated enough else even if u have Democratic structure it never works well coz of illiteracy due to which people r not empowered enough to choose right thing.

we need people like kamla maa who can inspire people. Why Kamla maa ,her blood kalpi is the same.she too has her zeal and enthusiasm.

Kalpi always wanted to study and had a knack for better things and kamla just encouraged it .

yes at times kamla maa seemed like forcing but parents tend to be like that and should be forgiven coz they do so much for us that they tend to dream sometimes ,but not all parents r like that

Look at Pakya did kamla force him to study no coz he was never interested

plus accept it or not when u r born in a poor family and u want to prove urself and make ur space among the privileged once then u need to work harder , then only u can break the cycle ,else it takes several generations to bring the change

Personally I believe that children should have mandatory schooling to a certain level. They need to learn how to speak the language of the country they are living in fluently and to be able to write proficiently. They also need to be able to learn maths to the level of knowing how to do percentages and comparatives. From then i believe education should be vocational, at the end of the day education is not for everyone, there are some kids who learn better by 'hand on learning' rather then reading from a board and books.

There are also some kids who do not wish to study further than what is essential and its a waste of time and effort and a deprivation on their lives if they are made to do something they do not wish to do.

These days companies do not look at what grades you got only, they give importance to extra curricular and vocational experience as well.

from what little i'v seen of this serial, the maid wants her daughter to get an education , so that she get a fair chance at becoming a memsahib someday. and young Kalpi and the views want Kalpi to hook up with richman Ragav. so that Kalpi get to fulfill her mom's dream to become a memsahib.
moral of the story is get an education, get a job in a big company, find a way into you bosses heart and marry him.

talk about what sort of message this serial is sending out. what happened to women empoverment. and using that education for the right purpose.
