One thing is sure... He is flirting with Maya intentionally in front of Kalpi and Pakhi. May be to push Kalpi away from him and as Veera said to stop Pakhi from drooling over him. One more thing just came to mind is... May be he wants Pakhi to fall for him... to make her realize that she can't get everything she wants.
