PART 29-

AFTER ONE YEAR..

The sun was shining bright and it was a new day in Mumbai. People were very busy... In the Kapoor Mansion, Neetu was busy adding final touches to the breakfast dishes. She wore an apron and a chef's hat. Sahil walked down to find his wife in a chef's outfit. He closed his eyes and thought,"Why did I ever allow this woman to join cooking classes ?" He turned and was about to run to his room when Neetu called out,"Sahil !!! Breakfast is ready.. Come down.." Sahil sighed and thought,"What an amazing start.." He turned towards Neetu and smiled at her. Neetu smiled a goofy smile back at him. He sat at the breakfast table and waited for the disaster that his wife had prepared in the name of food. Neetu set his plate up with some white looking goo and toast. Sahil asked,"Err.. Neetu.. What is this goo ??" Neetu said,"Sahil, that is not goo.. That's custard. Its good for health." Sahil gave a bewildered look wondering when did custard turn into goo. Just then, Pakhi came down in a hurry looking at her watch..

Pakhi : Mom and Dad.. Am going.. Bye..

Neetu : But Muffin.. You haven't had breakfast yet..

Pakhi : Mom. I have a whole load of work at office. I cnt afford to miss a thing.

Sahil (to himself) : Great escape, Pakhi..

Neetu : What did you say, Sahil ????

Sahil : Not.. Nothing Neetu.. I was just telling myself that the custard is yummy.. I wish I could keep tasting it all day..

Neetu : Really ??? Then wait.. I'll go and get some more..

Neetu went inside the kitchen to get some of the goo she called custard leaving Sahil to sulk. Pakhi started laughing and went to him. She hugged her father. He hugged her back weakly..

Pakhi : Good Luck with tasting mom's cooking, Dad..

Sahil : Thank your stars that you dnt get to taste this stuff..

There was the sound of a horn and Pakhi blushed. Sahil noticed this and smiled..

Sahil : Now run along before Lover Boy comes up and before your mom can make him taste her AMAZING food..

Pakhi laughed at her father's words and went away..

Down, Sammy was waiting for Pakhi. During the past one year, Sammy and Pakhi had grown very close to each other. And on Valentine's Day he had proposed to her and she had accepted it. Initially t was difficult for Sammy to talk to her parents since she was their only daughter but then found courage to talk with them. They had been sceptical at first but later, they realized that he was a very good human being and gave their consent..

Sammy : What took you so long ??

Pakhi : I was merely offering my condolenses to my Dad and wishing him Good Luck in tasting mom's food.

Both stared at each othe for a while and burst out laughing. Both knew how horrible Neetu's cooking was.

AT THE OFFICE-

Sammy and Pakhi reached the office and went to their respective places. Pakhi starts her work for the day.. Maya, her friend and colleague asked her,"Hey Pakhi.. When is Kalpi coming back ?" Pakhi said,"Tomorrow.. She's coming back tomorrow.. Am very happy to have her back here.. I missed her so very much." Tha day went on smoothly with the exceptional short meet sessions between Sammy and Pakhi.. Sammy and Pakhi were having one of their small cute sessions when Aarav came barging in like a madman without knocking.. Both let go of each other's hands.

Aarav (blushing) : Umm.. Sorry.. I could always come back later.

Sammy : No its ok Aarav.. Why did you barge in like a maniac ??

Aarav (red in the face) : That !!! Well.. Ummm. Ummm..

Pakhi : Come on Aarav.. Tell us...

Aarav : Well, the thing is, I am getting married..

Sammy and Pakhi : What !!!!!

Aarav : Yes.. I am getting married..

Sammy went and hugged him tightly.. Aarav hugged him back with a big goofy smile on his face. Sammy was very happy. Sure Aarav wasn't related by blood to him but he had always seen Aarav as his brother. Pakhi was laughing watching the two hug each other. She was indeed happy that Aarav was getting married. He had always been a very very very good friend and she was really happy that he had found a partner for himself.

Sammy : What's her name, Aarav ?

Aarav : Her name is Naina..

Pakhi : Such a sweet name.. Can I see her ?

Aarav took out his mobile phone and scrolled through the album to show Naina's pic. Both Sammy and Pakhi saw it. She was beautiful and had a gracious charm to her face. She had almond shaped eyes and a pretty smile.

Pakhi : Wow Aarav, she looks so beautiful..

Aarav : Thanx Pakhi.. Atlast she accepted and our parents are getting us married..

Sammy : Wait What !!!! She accepted ATLAST ??? What are you not telling us Aarav ?

Aarav (Eyes widening) : Its nothing..

Pakhi : Come on Aarav.. Have we ever kept secrets from each other ?? Tell us na..

Aarav : Ok.. The thing is I know Naina from college. We used to be college sweethearts. I always liked her and I was scared to tell. But then I asked her for a dance and she accepted. From then on, we became very good friends.. I don't know when I fell in love with her. We kept in touch after college. I proposed to her two months ago and she accepted it. She told me that she had always liked me. I didn't know when she fell in love with me.

Aarav stared into empty space with dreamy eyes. Sammy and Pakhi smiled at each other and shook him out of his dreamland.

Sammy : Woops.. Wake up Dolly DayDream.

Aarav : So Kalpi is coming tomorrow right ?

Pakhi : Yes. And we have to make tomorrow special for her.

Aarav : But how ?

Pakhi : I dnt know.. I can ask Kamla aunty to prepare her favourite dishes and we could all go to the airport and pick her up.

Sammy : That's fanstastic idea. She'll be elated.

Aarav : She has to. She deserves all the happiness in the world. BTW Sammy, did Raghav call or ask anything ??

Sammy (sadly) : No yaar. He called yesterday but he did not even ask a word about Kalpi. He is healing right now.

Aarav : You're right Sammy. I don't know how he manages to handle his pain.

Sammy : Me neither but then that's Raghav for you.. But as of now, don't ypu think we should make arrangements for Kalpi's comeback ??

All three of them went about with the arrangements for Kalpi's return..

The next day, early in the morning all three of them drove to the airport. Sammy, Pakhi and Aarav were very happy that Kalpi as going to be back. Sammy was happy that Kalpi was back. Now he was sure that Destiny had something in store for both Raghav and Kalpi and he was very sure that both were meant for each other. Pakhi was happy because she was having her best friend back. She missed her so very much in that one year and she decided that she would eat her ears off with everything that happened in that one year. Aarav was happy that he was having Kalpi back. He always wanted a little sister and Kalpi just seemed that type. He had always treated Kalpi as a little sister and he loved her like that.. They reached the airport with bonquets and chocolate in hand. The announcement came that the flight from Delhi had landed. All three went to the Receiver's Ed and waited there. They saw a lady come out of the checking and to them.

Pakhi : Kalpi !!! Over here.. Over here..

She waved her hand frantically at Kalpi. Kalpi noticed this and came forward to her with a wide smile.. She hugged Pakhi...

Kalpi : Pakhi.. I missed you so very much...

Pakhi : Oh, I missed you too loads.. How have you been ? You must have forgotten me na ?

Kalpi : I've been good. And no no.. I never forget you. You're always on my mind..

Pakhi : That's so very sweet of you.

Sammy : How have you been Kalpi ?

Kalpi : I am fine Sammy.. How have you been ?

Sammy : Am way too fine. How was work ?? Too much, too light or nothing ??

Kalpi : Work was tedius but it did help getting over the pain a bit.

All of a sudden, the atmosphere became dull. Kalpi was in a heart-break when Raghav left for Australia. She wouldn't smile and wouldn't concentrate on her work. Sammy observed her for a few days and found out that being in Mumbai only increased her pain. So he decided to send her off to Delhi for a year to work there. The moment he proposed the offer to Kalpi, she grabbed it and said that she would go. She left for Delhi the next day.

Aarav (lightening the atmosphere) : Hey Kalpi.. Missed me ??

Kalpi (Smiling widely at Aarav) : My brother from another mother !! How could I forget you ?? You were always on my mind. But you on the other hand forgot me na ??

Aarav : Are no no Kalpi.. I would never forget you..

Kalpi (teasind mode) : BTW, I heard my darling brother is getting married.. Is this true ?

Aarav (Blushing) : Yes.. It is true..

Kalpi (hugging him) : I am so very happy for you, Aarav.. BTW, I also heard that yours was a love marriage.

Aarav (Blushing) : Yes..

Kalpi smiled and hugged him again. She was so very happy for Aarav. She had always wanted a brother and Aarav was always there for her like a brother. She was smiling and laughing and hugging Aarav until Sammy was whining that a certain someone named KALPANA JADHAV had forgoteen to give him a hug. This statement was met with laughter from all four of them until Kalpi gave in to Sammy's whines and gave him a teddy bear hug. Sammy was happy that Kalpi was smiling a true smile. Now it was time for Raghav whom he so fondly calls as his MORONIC THICK-HEADED BROTHER to come..

That day, Kalpi went home straight and was greeted warmly by her parents and the delicious lunch. She went to her room to unpack. As she was unpacking, she took out a photo-frame. It was a pic of Raghav. Tears sprang into her eyes as she looked st him. She ran a hand through the frame..

Kalpi : Raghav, I miss you very much. It was my fault that you are away in Australia now. Had I been a bit more matured and not asked you such a stupid question, you wouln't have been so far away from me. From the moment you left, there hasn't been a day without me crying. I miss you everyday. That's why I left for Delhi. I couldn't handle being here.

At the same time, Sammy was talking over the phone to someone telling that someone that he would pick him up tomorrow..

Phew !!! Part 29 over.. Update this FF after a very long time.. I missed this FF since this was the first one I started 😳 And yeah.. I was missing Kalpi loads so I had mostly her in this chapter. And I do hope you guys like the brother-sister thing I put in this chapter. I lov brother-sister bondings 😳 And Aarav seems like the kind of person that would be a brother to Kalpi. Ad I did really miss Sahil-Neetu funny convos loads 😆 So do LIKE and COMMENT 😊
