"It was a really long drive but it was all worth it" said I admiring the beauty of the "special" place Raghav
brought me to see.
"This is my special place." He said with sparkling eyes.
"It is special indeed." I said looking around.
The meadow was beautiful indeed. It was a quiet place; all you could hear was the chirping of the birds and
the sound of the flowing wind. The view was spectacular with all the greenery. Last night Raghav told me he
wanted to show me something and said he would pick me up at 7 in the morning. I made excuses as I was
not willing to go with him after the scene he created at the mall.
"I knew you would love it. Believe it or not we do have something in common. You love to be close to
nature and so do I. That's why I've been coming here since I was a kid. It's really peaceful."
He showed me abound and we sat on the grass.
"Thanks a lot." I said.
"For what?"
"For making me a part of this. For showing me your special place."
He smiled and said, "kalpi you won't believe it. I was here 2 days ago. I was lying on the grass and I fall
asleep and you know what? I dreamt about you. I saw you sitting under that tree and reading. I know it's
weird but since then I've had this urge to show you this place."
"This is the perfect place to read." I giggled.
"Absolutely, I can spend hours here just lazing around." He said looking at the grass.
"I wish I had a special place like this back home." I said disappointedly.
"You can make this your special place too." We both smiled.
We sat there for few minutes in silence, admiring the beauty of that place.
"I know what others have told you about Me." He said breaking the silence.
"What?" I was astonished.
"I know I am not a good guy, I know I have a sort of reputation here. But I can be a good friend you know.
I...umm...I just want to be your friend." He said looking into my eyes.
I looked at him surprisingly.
"I promise I'll behave myself and you'll never regret being with me."
I was speechless.
"Can we be friends?" he asked. I nodded without taking a second to think.
"Thanks." he smiled.
He showed me around. It was a beautiful place. There was a tree with yellow flowers.
"Lovely flowers." I exclaimed.
He climbed the tree and shook the branches. Flowers came falling on me. It was an amazing feeling. He
jumped down.
"You liked it?"
"I loved it."
He picked up a flower from the ground and placed it on my ear.
"Beautiful" said he looking at me.
I was embarrassed but I felt good. He was really sweet to me and his emotions were genuine, his
apprehensions regarding our friendship were evident since I've always given him hints to bugger off.
We were sitting beside the stream and talking when I asked Raghav a question that made him slightly
uncomfortable, "You've asking so many questions to me now tell me something about you...your family."
"What do you want to know?" he said throwing the stone in the stream.
"Anything, ummm...tell me about your mom and dad."
"There's nothing much to say" he looked uncomfortable.
"Friends should know everything about each other." I said raising my eyebrow.
He sighed and said, "My dad is dead; my mom lives in Nottingham and you've already met my ex at the
party. Anything else you want to know?"
"I am sorry to hear about your dad." I could sense the annoyance in his voice.
"Why? You didn't kill him."
"What?" I was stunned.
He didn't say a word and turned his head on me. I got up and said, "I need to go now. Aunt must be
waiting."
"Let's sit here for a while." He said nervously.
"No."
"But..." he tried to insist.
"No."
On the ride back to home I didn't say a word. He kept talking and tried to initiate a conversation but I
preferred staying quiet.
It had only been few hours and I started feeling bad about being friends with him. We reached home.
"pia"
"Yeah"
"Thanks for being my friend."
I smiled but I knew somewhere in my heart that I might regret it someday.
