VirMan OS: "Letting Go"
"Mannat?!?!?!", Manvi screamed at seeing her 15 year old daughters room, which right now looked like a jungle, clothes, shoes, bags, books, all pilled around disorderly like some type of thrift shop.
On hearing the scream in the middle of their movie, Virat and Mannat, the father-daughter duo came running upstairs to check what was wrong.
"Manvi? What happened love??", Virat asked her, stepping inside the room, as Mannat followed him behind hesitating slightly.
"What happened? Virat can't you see your daughters room? i mean just look at it? it looks more like a jungle then a bedroom!", Manvi yelled facing her husband and looking for her daughter to step out of hiding from behind him.
"Mannat! stop hiding, you know that won't do any good for you right now..", Manvi told her sternly, placing her hands on her hips.
Slowly Mannat tip-toed out from behind her Daddy, and faced her Mummy's glaring eyes.
"Is this anyway to keep your room, young lady?!?", Manvi scolded her.
"Manvii, leave it Love, she's a girl, it happens!", Virat said, trying to calm down Manvi, as he went to stand by her and hug her from the side.
"Mr. Vadhera don't you dare say a word! Your the one who has spoiled her past limits!", Manvi said glaring at her husband.
"But Mummyy, its to help pack for camp..", Mannat replied her voice getting small towards the end at her Mummy's glare.
"By turning your room into a jungle??'!?", Manvi asked her, raising her eyebrows accusingly then continued "Ughh I didn't want to let you go to this stupid camp anyways!".
"Manvi listen!", Virat said taking a hold of her right hand in both of his.
"No Virat, I'm not listening to anything, I'm going to go to my room, you both can stay and clean this jungle up, if that is even possible, After all you where the one eager to send her off to camp!", Manvi said, pulling her hand out of her husbands and walking out the door, ignoring Mannat's calls of "Mummy" behind her.
Seeing her Mummy walk out mad and not listening to her calls, Mannat got stressed, and upset. Her Mummy meant the world to her, her Dad did to but her Mummy and her had another special bond, more like of best friends, while her Dad was her partner in crime. Now upset at her Mummy being mad at her, Mannat stomped over to her bed and sat down, arms folded across her chest and the biggest frown adoring her face.
"Mannat? Darling? Whats wrong?", Daddy now asked her, sitting down next to her, in a concerned tone.
"Daddy, you please don't say anything its all your fault, if you hadn't convinced Mummy for camp i wouldn't have gone crazy like this trying to pack and Mummy would never have gotten mad at me..", Mannat said to her Daddy sweetly yet annoyed.
"Huh? But you where the one who begged me to convince your Mummy for you Beta Ji..", Virat said to her, confused and caught between the two Ma-Beti.
"Haaan, but now whatt? Mummy is mad at meee", she whined.
"And? all you have to do is quickly clean up, go to your Mummy give her a hug and a kissy, and she'll be melting like ice cream in the sun!", Daddy now told her.
Mannat giggled because she knew it would be exactly that easy to get her Mummy convinced. Getting up Mannat quickly fixed her room in double speed with the help of Daddy, and then rushed across the hall towards her parents room with her Dad right behind her.
Opening the door, they sneaked in, as the lights had been turned off, and Mannat could make out the outline of her Mummy pretending to sleep facing the wall away from them tucked in her blanket for the night. Telling each other to hush, by placing their finger on their lips, they snuck towards the bed. Then Mannat quickly got on the bed, and rolling over to her Mummy, hugged her from behind, as she kissed her Mummy on the cheek, and then put her cheek against her.
"Mummy, forgive me na? I was just excited and forgot to clean, pleasee?", Mannat asked her Mummy, not hearing a response from her, she continued giving excuses "Its not my fault, Daddy's the one who told you to let me go..", she tried, getting a glare from her Daddy, whom she showed her tongue teasingly, and a chuckle from her Mummy, telling her she'd been forgiven.
Turning, Manvi enveloped her daughter in her arms, squeezing her tight.
"Sorryy Jaanu, i kinda over reacted na?", Manvi asked her Beti now.
"Kinda??!!", Both Virat and Mannat said at the same time, both rolling their eyes as well, it was like seeing a clone with the same expression, yet not.
"Bohooot over react kiya appne!", Mannat continued, as Manvi now glared at her annoyed.
Virat seeing that the Ma-Beti duo had forgotten him, quickly made his presence known by jumping onto the bed and making his place in the middle.
"Chalo lets sleep now", he said, wrapping his left arm around Mannat and cuddling her into his side, while doing the same with his other arm and Manvi.
"Papaa, i want to be in the middle?!" Mannat complained.
"No, I'm in the middle this time, last time it was you, and the time before your Mummy, so this time its my turn!", Virat complained. They had these random nights when their Mannat would join them in bed, and they each took turns being in the middle.
Sighing in defeat, Mannat cuddled into her Daddy, and slept a peaceful sleep.
The next morning she was awoken by her Mummy, who served her favorite breakfast in bed, surprisingly, omelets and toast with orange juice.
The special occasion it being the day they where to take Mannat to her camp site and drop her off for the week.
It was almost Noon when Virat pulled up into the parking lot that led to Camp Pheonix, near the Forbidden Forest Lake. Manvi kept her heart strong as she watched her doll jump out of the car excitedly and grab her things before they all headed inside to get her situated. Hour an hour later, everything was done, the registration, then helping her settle into her room and now Manvi and Virat where heading back towards the car, along with Mannat, who was going to see them off.
When they stopped by the car, Manvi and Virat both started giving the normal parental lecture of Do's and Dont's, specially since this was the first time Mannat would be apart from them for a whole week. Manvi watched as Virat gently kissed their angle on her forehead and pulled her into a tight hug. Once he stepped away, Manvi embraced her, in the highest hug possible. Before she could loose the little control she did have on herself, Manvi then kissed her Baby on the forhead and pulled away. Waving goodbye, Virat and Manvi stood arm in arm, watching her skip off with her new roommate for the week.
Sighing they both got into their car, and Virat pulled off back towards home. They both where quiet through out the whole drive, they had just held hands quietly trying to comfort each other that it was just one week.
A while later, as they entered the house, and Virat shut the door behind himself, Manvi couldn't take the pain, the hurt anymore, and unable to control herself, she fell into her husbands arms and cried like a baby. Keeping his own emotions in check, Virat hugged her close, comforting and consoling Manvi.
"Manvi, lovee, come on its just a week, we can do this!?", Virat said, wiping her tears away as he sat on the couch, with cuddled in his lap.
For a long time, Manvi said nothing, just sat there being grumpy while she let it try to sink it. It was almost a half an hour when she decided to speak about it.
"You know Virat, its not the fact that she is grown, its the fact that i have to let go of her, again..its just so hard, no matter what you do or say or even what i say to myself won't make it easier'and you know what else Virat?..A Mom, doesn't let go of her daughter just once when she marries her off, no..she has to let go of her three different times..imagine what it would be like to feel the same hurt and pain, over and over and over again?..", she said to him.
"Three times?", he asked her, cuddling her closer into himself.
"Yes, three times'Once, when she is married off, that is the last time time, the final separation, the second time is when a mother has to let go of her daughter and realize that she isn't a Baby anymore, and that her angle can make her own decisions and can live without her now..and the third time..have you ever wondered why giving birth is so painful, and emotional moving..? Yes it is hurtful because of the Baby pushing through..but at the same time, its the 1st time the mother is separated from her Baby, the part of her that was there inside her like a piece of her is being split from her. Although there is the joy of having a bundle in your arms, there is also this emptiness of not having that bond from within now'.ughhh i know I'm not really making any sense, but the point is..I don't want to let gooo yet!", she whined, digging her head into the crook of her husbands neck.
"Haan Haan, we Dads after all have no contribution to the kids na..?", Virat teased her with a chuckle as she frowned at him, and then continued.."Its okay, its hard but you know what? We will help each stay strong and get through this, and if we get too lonely or depressed, we can always work on giving Mannat a sister, or a brother ;)", he teased, earning a punch on his arm.
Somehow, with a miracle, they got through the week. It had taken them both lots of effort not to drive down to the camp and check on her. But at the end both had managed not to do so and thus they where pretty proud of themselves.
A week had passed since Mannat's return from camp, Manvi was in the kitchen and Mannat was watching her as she set the brownies into the oven.
"Mummy, OMGOD, guess what we saww?!?", Mannat said to Manvi excitedly.
"Kya?", Manvi asked, unsure of the answer.
"Guys!! Woh Bhi Shirtless, what a scene Mom! Hayeee, just imagine, their abbs where perfect tooo," she said, sighing with adoration.
"Virattt!!!!?!?!?", Manvi called out for her husband, freaking out at her daughters excitement for half-naked guys.
Once he had joined them from the backyard, Manvi told him what their daughter had just told her. They where then pondering over this new dilemma, when Mannat started headed upstairs, knowing she had called the lion on herself this time. She chuckled to herself, as she left her parents bewildered once again.
"Mannat?!", she heard her parents call, just as she almost touched the stairs.
"There where no guys there, neither around the camp in another 50 mile radius, then how did you?!", Mummy asked her coming near.
Virat and Manvi caught the devils expression on their dolls face as she smirked, and they knew instantly they had been tricked. They then made a dash for her, catching her they tickled her, and she tickled them until they all 3 where in fits of laughter, lying in the family room, laughing and annoying their times together, as one small yet Happy Family, Manvi and Virat acknowledging and accepting that they had just started the "Letting Go" and had lots more of it to do.
