PART 7
She sleekly slipped out of the basket embarrassed out of limits. The people assembled there as if in an assembly line and couples musing at them made her more nervous. He pulled out of his fly-spirited time and dodged out of the basket carefully not being too close to her. In the same attempt to maintain a fair distance between them he unknowingly slipped onto her causing her waist coat torn due to the hard steel handles of the basket.
She groaned in frustration at him. Couldn't he just be careful for once? There's always something or the other to happen when he's around. If it had been any other person then she could have toured the whole of Goa and returned back to the same place she is now. She wondered how would her Cousin react to her habit of coming late even to her marriage.
"Do you have cash"? She asked taking away the coat and folding it. He looked surprised at her. "Yeah...But why"? He questioned to clear his doubt away.
"Nothing, I was just wondering that if I could make paper boats out of them and leave them in the nearby sea", she sarcastically replied with annoyance. He scanned her from top to bottom to check if she could have gone nuts because of the ride.
"Costly practice huh", he grinned taking in her sarcastic replies.
She ignored his useless remarks and barged her way immediately into the nearby cloth shop with few suits displayed on the railings beside the shop. She ignored the goofy looks of the passersby at her half opened top with a pair of denim jeans. She immediately wanted to get off these clothes and that added one more reason to her frisky attitude taking in the fact that her coat is torn into one huge piece making it unfit to wear.
The shop was not an A class but well it had something called clothes though they were not really what Manvi fantasies as clothes to wear. She is more off as a modern girl than the "yes-papa" girl of traditional values nodding her head to every shit which doesn't makes sense. Perhaps that is the reason for her being so adamant on her decision to put up a stop flag to the wedding proposals in her family. She observed it more as of her life and her decisions not waving a happy flag to her parent's decision. Virat looked bored out of his wits and yawned sitting on the nearby chair.
~~~
The shopkeeper looked tiredly at her taking the pile of clothes aside. His expressions changed to a merry happy smile when she separated out few clothes from the remaining ones in the process to buy them.
"How's this"? She asked showing a baby pink suit with intricate work to Virat. He looked bushed beyond limits. The time when she stepped into the shop had been almost four hours and she still wasn't contempt with her selection of clothes and instead she is preferring him to choose her clothes; that too of a girl.
"This is ridiculous Manvi, do you expect me to give my advice over a woman's clothes. Do I look like a salesman to you", he snapped out getting cheesed off. She gave an uninspiring look to him asking the shopkeeper to pack the few clothes she had separated out whilst the shopkeeper pulled up a satisfactory smile after the long effort of helping her choose clothes.
She went into the trail area of the small shop quickly to get changed into the same baby pink suit that she showed to Virat. As she was about to come out of the room she noticed the back of the dress was open which needed the dori to be tied to look complete as a dress.
She struggled getting on finally with it and came out somewhat displeased with her avatar. Virat yawned stretching his limbs to get off the drowsy feeling and laid his back to the chair. As she entered into the shop he shot a surprising look to her.
"What are you so surprised at"? She asked taking the packed bags from the shopkeeper whilst Virat paid him.
"You know it's astonishing to see you in a traditional dress, chalo achha hai men wouldn't be gawking at you now", he said making his way out of the shop.
"Huh what", she continued further stepping out of the shop and adjusting her duppata. "I said that it wouldn't make any more "Sam's" coming after you", he blurted out and cursing himself inwardly to have raised the topic. He stuck his tongue out and regretted his words.
"What did you just say", she questioned demanding answers. He tried to act dumb making her believe that he didn't say anything and it was just the crowd that rung in her ears but she wasn't a senseless lady to believe his look. He gave up as he found no use to act all Mr. Innocent when she is Miss. intelligent.
"Actually I was all way following you and Sam from a distance as I felt guilt creeping on me as I let you go with him. I was about to help you out at the moment when he dragged you to the door but you were quick enough to escape from him", he ended his rattle lowering his gaze at her. She stood silent and breathed a huge gasp.
"Thanks", she replied back earnestly her eyes speaking sincerity. He smiled back genuinely before following her back to set on the journey to Mission.Goa.
~~~
"Do you expect me to travel in this", she asked seriously surprised out of her wits.
"Miss Queen Elizabeth, this is a small village so this is the only mode of transport to reach Goa", he mocked at her putting his bag along with her shopping bags into a small van. She huffed before finally settling into the van which was loaded with five other passengers. She sat to the left corner of the van whilst Virat managed to sit to the right corner of the van without being too close to her. She sat slackened in the seat when an intruder squeezed between both of them. Manvi grew startled at the way the man sat so close to her. She grew uncomfortable as he moved closer.
She looked to the extreme right side at Virat sitting chilled out in his seat. She tried to call him but she resulted futile in her attempts. She tried to put a straight face and sit right but she happened to be grown furious of the idiotic person beside her.
She quickly called Virat not wasting any more time and shifted in his seat pushing Virat in the middle between the idiotic guy and her. After all "a known devil is always better than an unknown devil".
