Chapter 12

Virat woke up a few hours later to find Maanvi in his arms and their clothes all over the room. Maanvi was asleep, not moving the slightest bit. Virat leaned over for his shirt on the other side of the bed but accidentally woke Maanvi in the process. She opened her eyes but he couldn't see them because he hair was all over her face. He pushed a few strands back. After he did it he realized that he shouldn't have because now he knew that both of them felt really, really, really, really awkward looking into each other's eyes.

Then something snapped into Maavni and she suddenly realized where she was. She immediately jumped out of bed in her nightgown, picked up her salwaar and headed to the bathroom to get changed! After she was changed she headed back to the bed where her dupatta was. She picked it up with force but it was tangled onto the bed cover so she fell over right on top Virat. They looked at each other for a while. They both were silent. Maanvi started getting up again when Virat stopped her.

Virat: Maanvi, I'm sorry.

Tears whirled in Maanvi's eyes.

Virat: I'm sorry Maanvi.

Virat held her around the waist so she wouldn't go.

Maanvi: Virat, let me go.

Virat: I won't let you go Maanvi.

Maanvi: What do you want Virat?

Virat: I don't want anything. I just want to say that I promis it will never happen again. I'll never come close to you again. Never. You and me is over Maanvi, over forever.

Maanvi got off the bed with tears in her eyes and slowly stepped backwards away from Virat. The distance between them was growing but the depth of their relationship was decreasing. VirMan were breaking into two separate words, Virat and Maanvi.

Maanvi returned to her room and sat quietly. It was quite early in the morning, no one would we awake now. She knew that what Virat had said today about them two being over would never come true unless she did something. Virat was Priya's, Maanvi had accepted that but Virat needed to accept that she was and is no longer his either. Then the thought struck her. Prem, he said he loved her. Maanvi thought of him nothing above a best friend but to settle things down she would have to say she loved him, she had no other option. She needed to run away from her past, and Prem was the only way she could do that.

The first thing Maanvi did when Prem woke up in the morning was run into his room and hug him. Prem was overwhelmed at her action, more than overwhelmed he was shocked. Then Maanvi let the words escape her lips.

Maanvi: Prem, I love you.

As soon as Maanvi said this VirIka were walking past the room. They were shocked hearing what Maanvi had said. Prem looked at them in a confused manner as if he were asking them for advice about what to do from here. Viren nodded his head.

A second late Virat was walking past and both VirIKa nodded their heads harder this time to get Prem to say it back to her. As soon as Virat started walking past the door Prem hugged Maanvi back and said'

Prem: I love you too Maanvi.

Virat stopped in his path and turned around to see Maanvi and Prem hugging. His heart felt like it had sunk. It felt like the world had been sucked from underneath his feet. He didn't know why this hurt him so much, it just did. Virat had only ever known Maanvi as his, but seeing her with someone else killed him. Virat now felt what Maanvi had gone through when she had found out about Virat and Priya being together. History had repeated itself and so had pain.

*Three Weeks Later*

Three weeks passed by and today was the day when the divorce papers were being signed. Viren, Jeevika, Virat and Maanvi were the only ones going to court to complete the formalities. VirMan couldn't help but be nervous about this. They knew they didn't belong to each other but it still hurt them being separated.

Once VirMan and VirIka had arrived in court, they got taken into a room to sign the papers. The lawyer passed them a pen but nor Virat nor Maanvi extended their hand to take it. They looked at each for a millisecond, then looked down at the papers but still didn't take the pen.

Viren: One of you has to sign it first anyway, so just take the pen.

Jeevika: Mannu? Aren't you going to sign it?

Maanvi started to feel slightly dizzy. She tried to ignore her sickness; it was probably just the nervousness making her feel nauseous. Her shivering hands took the pen from the lawyer's hand. Virat could see that she was getting unwell. Her face was turning a red and her eyes were looking as if they couldn't stay open any longer. Her quivering hands took the pen down to the paper but she was feeling more unwell by the second.

Virat took her hand in which she was holding the pain. He took the pen out of her clenched fist and put it down on the table again. As soon as he did so, Maanvi fainted and he caught her just in time.

Jeevika: Mannu? Mannu kya hua? (What happened Maanvi)?

Viren: Maanvi?

Virat didn't say anything. He just lifted Maanvi in his arms and began to leave the room. Before he left he said a few words.

Virat: I'm sorry Mr Mehra (the lawyer), we're not getting divorced.

Mr Mehra: Good, because you shouldn't. You look good together.

Virat didn't mean it in a way that him and Maanvi would never get divorced but he didn't have time to explain that. Maanvi was unwell and he had to get her back home. Virat rushed out of the room with Maanvi in his arms. VirIka followed in a hurried manner.

When they arrived home everyone was shocked to see Maanvi's unconscious. Virat to her to his room and laid her on the bed. They called the doctor immediately and she said she was on her way.

During the time when everyone was waiting for the Dr to arrive Priya had was really curious about something and she had to ask.

Priya: Virat? Divorce hogaya? (Did you get the divorce papers signed)?

Virat took a deep breath.

Virat: Nahi. (No).

Priya: WHY?

Virat: Maanvi fainted before she could sign them.

Priya: I bet nothing has happened to her, I bet she's doing it all on purpose. She's trying to use you Virat.

Jeevika: Stop it Priya. Enough of you are you're pointless statements. How long do you know Maanvi for? A week? Two weeks? A month? I've known her for all my life and I know what kind of girl she is. Maanvi wants to be separated from her marriage with Virat as much he does, there's no doubt. She fell ill, she can't control. And how about you keep mouth shut and stop saying false things about my sister?

Priya: You'how dare you? Who are you to insult me like this? Huh?

Virat: Enough Priya. She's like your older sister and you will not speak to her like that. Aplogise.

Priya: Virat but-

Virat: Apologise NOW.

Priya scrunched up her face and said sorry to Jeevika in the rudest manner.

Priya: Sorry.

Then another thought came to Priya's mind.

Priya: But I wasn't saying anything to Jeevika in the first place. I was saying that Maanvi is acting it all out. She's being an attention seeker-

Virat: I'm pretty sure I know Maanvi much better than you Priya. She would never do something like that.

Priya: How do you know Virat?

Virat: Because she's my wife and I've been married to her for 2 years!

Virat looked up at Prem who was sitting on the other side of Maanvi on the bed. He didn't look offended at all but Virat gathered that he still owed him an apology.

Virat: Sorry Prem.

Prem: It's fine, it's true anyways.

Prem saying this made Virat feel funny. It made him feel as if Prem was trying to imply that Virat still had right over Maanvi because she was his wife.

The doctor arrived a few minutes later. She examined Maanvi and asked Virat to bring in a glass of water. She sprinkled some water on Maanvi's face and Maanvi suddenly woke up. Maanvi sat up instantly.

Maanvi: Di? Geeju? Hum yaha kya karrey hai? Hum lawyer ke paas gaye thhey naa? (What are we doing here? Didn't we go to the lawyer)?

Maanvi was trying to get off the bed when the doctor stopped her.

Doctor: Asthir seyy. (Take it easy).

Maanvi: Kyun? (Why)?

Doctor: Mubaarakh ho. (Congratulations)

Maanvi gave a slight laugh because she was utterly confused what this doctor was saying.

Maanvi: Why?

The doctor paused for a minute and then she opened her mouth to speak again.

Doctor: Aap maa baney vaali hai. (You're pregnant).

The whole world froze. Everyone was shocked and surprised. The most unexpected thing had just emerged in Maanvi's life and it brought the most beautiful smile to her face.

Maanvi: Di!

Maanvi turned around and burst herself into Jeevika's arms. Jeevika smiled but at the same time she understood that this news was going to really test VirMan's relationship.

Doctor: Who's the lucky guy?

As soon as the doctor said this, the smile from Maanvi's face disappeared completely. She broke off from hugging Jeevika. Nobody answered the question so the doctor asked again.

Doctor: Bache ka pitha kaun hai? (Whose the father of the child)?

There was a long, piercing pause which killed Maanvi. She couldn't say his name. She just couldn't.

Then he said what she had never expected.

Virat: Main. (Me)

I warned you that drama was awaiting! 😆
