"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Jeevika, Happy Birthday to you!" sang Maanvi and Dabbu.

Everyone applauded as Chachi handed me the knife. I cut the cake and fed it to Maanvi, my sweet sister. She was my whole world. Maanvi would be ready to do anything for me, and I would be ready to do anything for her.

I strolled towards a lady sitting in the corner of the hallway. She was still crying.

"Maa..." I called and put the cake near her mouth.

I expected her not to eat it but this time she did. I was so happy. But then I noticed that every 5 minutes she looked at Beeji. I wonder what was wrong.

Everyone started giving me presents. There were millions. I didn't know which one to open first.

Suddenly, Beeji came up to me.

"Jeevika, I need to talk to you." She said quietly.

"Beeji, Di will come later." Maanvi replied.

"Maanvi, chup! I'm talking to Jeevika not you." Beeji said sternly.

Maanvi sulked. I put my hand on hers and smiled.

Beeji was taking me to her room. I followed her. From the hallway to the room was a quiet journey. None of us spoke. She firmly shut the door and turned towards me.

"I and your mother have wanted to tell you something for so many years but we didn't have the courage to. So I decided that we will tell you on your 18^th Birthday." Beeji explained.

I was getting tensed. What did they want to tell me? I hope it's nothing serious.

"Jeevika..." she said and took a long pause. "You're adopted."
