But he in fact helped the victim to escape. Then how does he become a co-conspirator?

Someone who doesn't commit the crime but is involved in it is a co-conspirator agreed!
And Rishi didn't try to stop the crime.
I'm not saying he's innocent because he's not! And deserves punishment too.

But he's not a conspirator either coz he's the one who saved the victim from further torture.

May be his punishment can be reduced provided he now stands up against his friends in the court and becomes a prosecution witness.

Helping victim escape after everybody else raped her is no big deal.
Where was he and his helpful concern when Payal was tortured at mental hospital daily?

What Rishi did is abetment only. And he deserves punishment for it.

there's no compulsion to help anyone. Its completely a person's prerogative whether to help someone or not help someone.
So Rishi helping Payal when she was in mental hospital is completely his choice. No one can force anyone to help others.

What's is in our hands is whether we live up to our morals or not which Rishi didn't and so he should be punished. But that doesn't make him a criminal or a conspirator.

That way then even Divya didn't try to save Payal inspite of being present at the scene. She could have made some noise and called security or people from surroundings which she didn't.
So is she a criminal/conspirator too??

Being an eye-witness is not the same as committing the crime.
Many times eye witnesses fear for their own life and so they can't stop the crime.
Does it make them a conspirator? Certainly not!

Even Divya didn't give witness in court. So is she a criminal?
But both Rishi and Divya have been helping Payal.

Rishi's fault is that he had the power to stop this crime from happening but didn't.

So he should obviously go to jail but the quantum of punishment cannot be the same as that given to the actual rapists.
These 3 rapists should be hanged/ get life imprisonment.

Obviously we can't have such harsh punishment for someone who is not a criminal.

Rishi was a bystander, which is just as worse

Rishi
Just as there is no compulsion to help similarly there is nothing great if he didn't rape.

Rishi deserves punishment as abettor for misleading court and for evidence withholding.

Quantum of punishment might be less but total whitewashing or forgiveness is a complete no no.

Legally Rishi is also a criminal though he committed a comparatively lesser crime.

Forgiven?
Of course not. He can't be forgiven.
He deserves punishment of course he does!
That's what I said. He should be punished for being a passive participant in all those criminal acts like bets and of course not stopping the heinous crime of raping Payal.
He further went on to give false testimony in court which is illegal as well.

But one of the posts someone called him a conspirator and a criminal which I disagree to.
A conspirator is someone who conspires in a crime and a person who helped the victim escape can't be a conspirator.

So quantum of punishment should be different. thats all my POV is.

Whitewashing him is a stupid saas bahu twist. even more ridiculous would be to pair the jerk with Payal.
Payal deserves someone better.
I'm not supporting any of this nonsense.

But i disagree to him being called a criminal when he didn't commit any crime.
