Thanks for elaborating my point Shrutiravi.
Unless Dev experiences dead ends the way Nitya did, he will not understand why Nitya became Durga and why she did what she did. He would not be able to support her actions or digest her truth.

It would be very easy for anyone from Goenka clan to sway him and allege that Durga was telling lies or using him against them.

Let him discover truth himself - especially about his family so that no one can sway him claiming others misled him.

Currently I am sorry to say I don't even find him a solid son. A son needs to be assertive and protective after growing up. He has even more responsibility if father is dead. But Dev gets bullied easily. That is not an advisable quality in a householder.

He has been living in bubble of old memories. He needs taste of reality and has a lot of mental growing up to do.

What this show has shown is that there are some truths of life that are learnt only after wide and often bitter experience.

Dev knows Nitya disappeared. But never focused on how and what of it. Never focused on those who compelled her to disappear.

He knows his father is dead. Has he ever asked or wondered how he died? What circumstances were there?

He knows he is often sent to US. His mother also wants him to shift. Why never wonder why is he kept away from his own home?

A lot of pertinent questions are there that Dev just never bothers about.

He must open his brain and eyes fully.
