However I am curious about Dayal's relationship with real wife and daughter. I strongly feel it is guilt that is contributing to his niceness towards Nitya and Payal. He seems pretty much adorable in flashbacks with real Durga though.

Good point on books trina. Scenes in Dayal mansion are mostly around the huge library or the Durga mata mandir. Or that small kitchen where this family eats or cooks together. Whereas scenes of Goenkas are always around that bar, booze or fancy lounge or bedroom. Never seen them bond together, eat or cook together or care for each other. Only Dev and Suchitra look like normal family. The Goenka trio almost always fights or talks in 'signs'. Dysfunctional bunch of animals! 🤢

I agree with you Dayal may indeed bear some guilt towards his daughter, especially knowing the kind of big-hearted man that he is. He wouldn't find someone else to blame. But at the same time, I feel a lot of what he shares with Nitya and Payal is very real and helps to keep him together in a way that the supposedly "real" Goenkas will never do. He looks like a dad any girl would be proud to have.

Thank you. Yes, the scenes are mostly around the library, mandir or kitchen. That is what I call middle class values. They all enjoy the company of books in the Thakur household, when was the last time you even saw any of the Goenkas doing it apart from Suchitra? They also affirm their ties to religion in private, not in front of others to impress friends. And the food also, it is another special experience they share together. It was in fact so special that Durga knew they wouldn't make it to the meal portion of the puja and therefore had to plan ahead! Better off than eating with those phonies. Yeah, the Goenka trio always fights and when one of them stands up for the other it's just a show because they are so dysfunctional they can't honor their principles anymore. Hard to even know whether they were a real family when the junior Goenkas were little. Their scenes around the bar are extremely appropriate where Rajnath always has a drink in his hand. As the threesome are always intoxicated with their money, power, and women.

Durga (bless her soul) ate them all for dinner in their own house, and everyone knew it. =)

I agree with you. Dayal is a nice human being himself. No matter how much you make money, how higher education you get if you're not nice at heart you'll be like Rajnath Goenka. That's what I think personally. Dayal is highly educated and yet rich but is a very nice man at heart.
Now a days we see highly educated people are like the Goenka trio. They cheat, commit crimes uses their power to hide their deeds.
I really like Dayal and respect the character.

This serial has an intriguing and complex set of characters, some that people love and love to hate. Dayal is such a humble, good-natured fellow, he is striking in contrast to the other parents in the show who have bizzare relationships, but his is a character that sits on the normal. I sort of wish the narration could delve into his back story a bit more, as we only know him in relation to Durga but then his role is of the supporting role only.
In my Game of Thrones mentality, Sakshi seems like the sly morally-twisted queen Cersei, while her evil-inclined son who is spoilt like a king would be unsurprisingly Cersei's son Joffrey, and Dayal the noble-minded Ned Stark who is caught within something he has to do for his duty towards Durga, who would be Arya Ned's daughter, the spirited fighter uninterested in the notion of queen-like royalty but desirous of valor and battles to survive
Certainly aspects of their characters draw some glaring parallels to Game of thrones for any who knows what im on about?
