I absolutely adore the relationship Dayal Thakur has with Durga vis a vis the one Raj and his wife have with their kids. Even though Dayal is not related to this Durga by blood, it doesn't show and it doesn't matter. The man always cares about her feelings and life and balances his family with his career. Furthermore, he doesn't seem to hide anything from her and vice versa.

But what do we see with the Goenkas? Raj cheating on his wife with the so-called best friend and when Shaurya gets to know about it he hides the truth from his mother. The woman who raised him. Not because he wants to protect her but because he is reaping the benefits of his father's secret. Raj and Sakshi are not on the same page where their son is concerned at all. Raj is willing to even blackmail his own son to teach him a lesson whereas Sakshi probably would not have gone so far. They both are hiding things from him and he from them. And they can't strike the balance between work and family life because if they could their marriage wouldn't be the joke that it is, as well as their family. Even with Suchitra they need to lie to gain her sympathy.

Note that both families are of considerable wealth and standing in society. But one seems real and the other is all show no substance. All they do is eat together.

Agreed.😊
Dayal is highly educated, well travelled, well connected and rich. Yet he has a heart and class that Goenkas totally lack. None of his achievements have made him an egomaniac.

Maybe deaths of Tara and Durga were also responsible in making him more sensitive.

He has values.

How caring he is towards girls he barely knows! He had a conscience which is why he helped Nitya and Payal to this extent. He is the one who served as moral check for revenge hungry Nitya too. He never reveled in observing scandals of others. I liked it when he wanted to leave watching CCTV footage from Raima's bedroom with Rajnath and her.

There is Rajnath who has a roving eye. That Ganguly who exploited poor student. Dayal too could have exploited this poor young girl but he did not!

Dayal and Nitya, Payal are not real family. Yet they share such warmth. Rajnath is unaware of daughter's whereabouts whereas this man stays up waiting for daughter, feeds her when she is sick, cries with her, revels in joy with her, protects her, tends to her injuries.
That is what it means to be a parent! 😊

Dayal is also funding Durga but for right motive. Whereas Rajnath is funding Shaurya recklessly for worst purposes.😲

Dayal is a great example of a rich man who is cultured. He proved one does not become parent just by biologically giving birth! A mentor, guide, sounding board, confidante is what a parent is all about.❤️

I am glad this show kept balance and did not stereotype all rich. Dayal and now Dev are good, positive role models of rich and accomplished people.👍🏼

I doubt if Goenkas even eat together or simply fume. I guess they just attend parties together!

Yes, because he is a product of middle class values and norms. His lifestyle is wealthy and elegant, but it's not over the top. He doesn't give lavish parties to prove who he is and what he's worth, too classy for that. He owns more books than all the Goenkas put together, not an accident. I like to think his occupation as a doctor makes him care for people more in general and not just his own patients. He is a man of compassion and mercy. And yes, none of his achievements made him an egomaniac because he realizes the power of the Almighty in giving him what he has. He feels it gives him the power to do good and he does it.

Maybe deaths of Tara and Durga were also responsible in making him more sensitive. Absolutely. But a lesser man would have become bitter and wishing to make others pay for their happiness. The reactions of a man reveal his true nature. Look at the death of Arnab, it made absolutely no difference to Sakshi and Raj. Just made them aware that his only son holds fifty percent of stock in their company. That's what I call cutthroat.

He has values. Yes, and he tries to pass them onto his adopted family.

He knows what it means to lose loved ones. And what I love about him is that even though his whole life revolves around these adopted children of a lower class family not known to him, he still misses his daughter and remembers her. I feel a part of him is guilty for their disagreement before she left for the US. It remains a door yet to be opened by the cvs. The heart knows no bounds. Just as it can love a pair of total strangers, it can also have room to mourn the death of another who wasnt.

There is Rajnath who has a roving eye. That Ganguly who exploited poor student. Dayal too could have exploited this poor young girl but he did not! Dayal is cut from a different cloth than the other two. I have to say, at least Rajnath went after someone his own age and social strata as opposed to Ganguly who is the world class pervert. Not to mention he didn't have to force Raima into anything she didn't want. Rajnath isn't ugly on the outside that he would need to go after a girl half his age. Not to say he is an angel either.

😊 Yeah but they sure do a convincing job in front of the Goenkas dont they? Because they may not be real, but they do love one another. Even Payal who is not herself, can feel that when she is around Dr. Thakur. The warmth is not feigned like the Goenkas who are soo concerned about their reputation and their son's. I like to say, the wealthy have real diamonds and pearls but no real heart. Did you see the look that Thakur gave Durga at the end like she should end her tirade and they should leave, she's hit her mark. That is the ideal communication of a real family. They should get Star Parivaar award for best father-daughter team.

Dayal is also funding Durga but for right motive. Whereas Rajnath is funding Shaurya recklessly for worst purposes.😲 He is funding her as a father would. Rajnath is funding him to reflect his own position in society like the other social icons they are friends with.

Dayal is a great example of a rich man who is cultured. He proved one does not become parent just by biologically giving birth! A mentor, guide, sounding board, confidante is what a parent is all about.❤️ Textbook example.

I am glad this show kept balance and did not stereotype all rich. Dayal and now Dev are good, positive role models of rich and accomplished people.👍🏼 This show has done the right thing in bringing justice to human nature. There is good and bad on all levels of society, but in lower classes it's been more emphasized because of prejudice. Dayal is more the exception to the rule just as Dev is, he doesn't hide from the flaws he sees in others.

I doubt if Goenkas even eat together or simply fume. I guess they just attend parties together! Parties are just like in Victorian times, they celebrate the ego of the rich who don't need to struggle and their temporary flights of fancy. Plus you get to see who is hiding their affairs from whom.

Well written post. =)

The dissimilarity of these two very rich families is so irrefutable that it makes one wonder as why having same advantages they are still going in opposite directions.

Dayal and Durga were brought together by accident and chose to bond together to teach a very dangerous family that they cannot get away by taking a woman's family and destroy them for the sake of their so called love for a Rapist son.

And when strangers have a good cause to join hands then inevitably there is genuine
closeness that is stronger than blood. And we can see that in Dayal and Durga and Payal.

While the Goenka's are so full of themselves and their self importance that even living under the same roof there seems to be no real love between any of them.

Use each other , get what you can from each other and show the world through parties that ...see we do a lot of things together. While each in their own way are there for show and making financial contacts to further their selfish interest.

It is blatantly shown in this show how some Rich People think from their Wallet and some Rich People think from their Heart.

Culture is inborn not bought by Money .

Having same advantages will not guarantee they will go in the same direction. Because a noble man's nature is different from an ignoble one's. The environment has a lot to do with it, but ultimately their character stems from their inner nature.

One thinks power is to do good, the other thinks it's for flashing the strength of one's status. It reflects back on the nature of the doer, not on the outer so-called advantages.

Shaurya has so much that he doesn't need to work for a living and therefore can have the free time to make other people's lives miserable, including his parents. How does it seem an advantage?

Durga reaps the benefits of her father's wealth in that she can visit NGO's and do some actual work. She doesn't even think of getting her father in trouble.

A lion will always be a lion, and a snake will always be a snake. Advantages aside.

I agree and beautifully written. That's the main reason I really enjoy watching dayal. It dosent matter to him whether somebody is related to him by blood or not; if they are right he will always be on their side and support them. I will really want to see that on the day when shauryas truth is out in front of everyone dayal raises his voice and not in the perspective of a father or businessman but purely a rightful man

Hmm Thakur vs Goenkas
1. Both are rich and influential familes but Dayal has made it with his immense hard work and not by taking shortcuts. We can't say the same thing for the Goenkas, can we ?

2. Dayal lost his daughter and therefore the girl he found on the streets was nothing less than a boon. For Nitya, having lost everything and all important people she loved, Dayal to her was nothing less than god himself . This bond is beyond Father- daughter bond we see everyday. Goenkas on the other hand has learnt the art if treachery and deceit. They have also snatched what should legally belong to another person. They have not lost anything as of now. They have two spoilt brats whom they have spoilt with everything. They think they are good parents when they are Shaurya's worst enemy.

3. Rajnath appreciates Shaurya's bet on Durga. Dayal on the other hand ask Durga to blossom like a flower like lotus. He wants his daughter to have clean hands after she has cleaned those filthy heads of Goenka clan.

4. Dayal is allowed to re- marry but he didn't. Rajnath we already know what kind of man he iss

5. Dayal has colleagues like Dr; Kayne who respects the privacy of his friend and colleague but look who Sakshi has a friend.

6. Lets not comment about their children as we don't know how real Durga died and even if she was a spoilt brat like Shaurya.

Dayal is also nice to Suchitra who he barely knows and who belongs to the slimy Goenka clan. Whereas Sakshi, and to some extent Shaurya, they just brush aside Suchitra like one swats a housefly!
However I am curious about Dayal's relationship with real wife and daughter. I strongly feel it is guilt that is contributing to his niceness towards Nitya and Payal. He seems pretty much adorable in flashbacks with real Durga though.

Good point on books trina. Scenes in Dayal mansion are mostly around the huge library or the Durga mata mandir. Or that small kitchen where this family eats or cooks together. Whereas scenes of Goenkas are always around that bar, booze or fancy lounge or bedroom. Never seen them bond together, eat or cook together or care for each other. Only Dev and Suchitra look like normal family. The Goenka trio almost always fights or talks in 'signs'. Dysfunctional bunch of animals! 🤢
