See I am playing Devil's advocate here. I am a woman and also a professional. I am putting this post because in yesterday epi Sagarika says there is no mistake of Nandini and her mom kind of shuts up Sagarika asking her to think about Nandini's reputation.
So I want to ask does Nandini's reputation really matter. Whether she was poor or under coercion what she did with Ganguly was consensual. We see many times that because woman like Nandini give away to such pressure , the genuine poor ladies who refuse such things are harassed. If a rape is reported in the corridors of corporate offices mostly it is told that till promotions were coming the lady had no problem, now since sexual favours are not yielding promotions she is accusing rape.
The reason these accusations fly is because woman like Nandini exist. It is because they succumb to pressure and then play victim card genuine victims are deprived of justice. They are also bracketed Nandini's.
So what do you say. Should Nandini escape with the victim card or she should also bear the brunt of punishment for the wrong she is indirectly doing to the society

Actually this is one of the hanging questions in reality.. But what i believe is that if women like Nandini would not give away their self esteem for the sake of their 'MAJBOORI' then people like Ganguly's dare will not get boosted. Mens therefore will not think of sexually exploiting women under such circumstances. Its high time that womens should stand for themselves since its said "GOD HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES" and there's no such problem which has no solution.

Payal didn't yield to his demands and what happened? I think its easy to say that women like Nandini shouldn't succumb to the pressure but if in that situation I think majority of women would behave like what Nandini did or commit suicide. The problem is with the outlook of our society.

Sorry. Nandini is educated.

She was no illiterate ignorant village belle who could have given in to pressure or else committed suicide.

If she was in tough financial conditions then she should have taken tuitions or some part time job than give sexual favours to a man.

If that man was harassing her she should have changed her college or left it to finish studies by correspondence.

I can't accept an educated girl sleeping for grades.

I know it happens.

But one cannot excuse it in every case.

That said I understand why Mrs. Ganguly talked about her reputation. In such a situation anyone would call the girl loose character than point fingers at the man. It's a tricky situation.

That is the saddest part of our society. Always worry about what people will say and blame the woman and force her to stay quiet.

I do not have sympathy for Nandini. She took the easy way out when being educated she had lots of other ways to pay her debt.

She never once thought if Ganguly is doing this to me how many other women in the college is he doing that to.

Sagrika's mother is more worried about their reputations than Nandini's.

Nandini was not literally forced to do it. She did it more out of choice than any pressure.First of all let us understand the difference between blackmail and a deal. blackmail is something when person is made to do something forciblr, like say at a gun . On the other hand a deal is doing something either immoral or illegal out of choice to get something which one cannot have without a helping hand.

Nandini didn't really look out at other options, did she ? Her approach to get a job was immoral in first place even when a sexual favour was not asked for. Isn't that called nepotism where you use influence to get your job done ?

I sympathise with that girl but cannot justify her standpoint. This way even the worst criminals will have a sob story to justify themselves. She didn't try at all. Payal at least tried although Payal's position was by all means weaker to that of Nandini's

But Nandini is escaping with Victim card. Dr Dayal is giving her job with all facilities. It would have been nice if they show her repenting.

I hope so. Being bechari is going as a style statement as far as HIndi tele- shows are concerned. This thing needs to change.

That was a great point put forward by TM!!!
I agree that it is because of such women, that even promotions given to genuinely hard-working women are seen with suspicion that she must have used her femininity to get her way.
I would even state that this is no exploitation, but simply a give and take thingy.
Ganguly didn't promise her marriage, nor did he fool her with anything, he gave her out-of-turn things and expected her to return what he wants.
Those of you who have seen the film Rajneeti will know that there was a similar plot in it where Shruti's character gives sexual favours to Arjun Rampal's character in the film and seeing that her political career is going nowhere because of this, she joins the rival party and puts forward the blame on Arjun's character of raping her.
