A New Understanding
Throwing Shravan one last scowl, Suman turned on her heels and walked away from him, determined not to talk to him until he apologized to her. Her patience had reached its limit and she was determined not to let him know exactly how mad she was with him, all the while hoping that he would come after her. It was when she got to her car that her head dropped down in dejection; he was not going to follow.
She was so lost in her disappointment that she failed to notice that he was right behind her, following her home. She couldn't feel his gaze on her when she got out of her car and dragged herself to her room on heavy feet.
It was a cold winter night and to beat the chill Suman had pulled the heater close to her bed and had a thick comforter on top of it to keep her toasty. Dressed in warm pajamas, a full sleeve t-shirt and socks she picked the comforter, lied down on the bed and covered herself with it. As a chill went down her spine as her body came in contact with the warm blanket her thoughts drifted to what had happened an hour earlier.

Suman was having a hectic day and on top of that one of her clients was troubling her by not paying her on time, so armed in her Sumo Wrestler mode she went to his office after making an appointment. She was in his office demanding he pay her when things went south. Suddenly, she was brushing off his unwanted advances when out of nowhere Shravan came in and slapped him and pulled Suman by her hand and out of the office.
"Shravan, mera haath chodo! She twisted her hand, trying to free herself from his grip.
"Shravan! she shouted again.
He pulled her and brought her in front of him. "Kya tha voh Sumo?!
"Mein handle kar rahi thi na, tumhe beech mein aane ki kya zaroorat thi?!
"Tum handle kar rahi thi?! Voh to dikh raha tha ki tum kitni aachi tarah se handle kar rahi. Agar mein nahi ata ro pata nahi kya hota! He continued shouting.
Suman had reached her the limit of her patience, her ire knowing no bounds when words left her mouth that pinched Shravan.
"Tum pichle 10 saal se yahan nahi the Shravan! Her words brought him to stand still.
"Pichle 10 saalo se mein aapna khyal khud rakh rahi hu. Aur yeh, pehla client nahi hai jisne aisi harkat karne ki koshish ki hai. By now Shravan's stomach had dropped, thinking about the other client who had behaved with his Sumo in such a manner.
"Pehle bhi handle karat ha, ab bhi handle kar leti. Dusro se help lene ki aadat ab nahi rahi, aapna kaam khud karna seekh gayi hun. 10 saal se kar rahi hun! Sumo went on but Shravan was still stuck on her confession.
"What do you mean, he isn't the first person? He interrupted her tirade.
"What? She asked in confusion.
"What do you mean, he isn't the first one to behave like that?! He asked again with barely restrained anger. Even the mere thought of somebody touching his Sumo, his woman the wrong way made his blood boil.
"It really doesn't matter! She replied, throwing her hands in the air in exasperation. "It was a long time ago and I handled it just like I was capable of handling it today! She screamed in frustration. Her day had been tiresome and with all the added drama her head had started to throb. Throwing one last scowl in his direction, Suman turned on her heels and walked away from him.

Suman must have dozed off because she suddenly woke up to a tapping on her window. She quickly got out of the bed and to the window and opened it only to find him on the other side. Shravan.
"Kya kar rahe rho?!
"Tumhara dimaag toh theek hai? Thand dekho kitni ho rahi hai aur bhaisaab yahan macho man banne chale hai. Aandar aao jaldi. She kept on going, frantic with his presence so late at night and him not being dressed properly.
He quickly jumped inside and closed the window, walked towards her bed and sat on it, only to bring his hands closer to the heater to defrost them. "Tumhe mere thand mein rehne se itni fikar hai, par aaj jo hua tumhare saath? Mujhe bhi fikar thi. He grumbled. "Mujhe laga
"I don't give a damn! She rants, her anger rising once again. "These are two unrelated things and as to what happened earlier, I could've handled it! I was handling it! It is absolute bullshit if you think you can just barge in and take over. I was not going to let an idiot client get the better of me!
Falling silent, Suman ran her finger through her hair agitatedly, because she would never admit to Shravan that at that moment she was afraid of the exact same thing he was. Not that she wasn't grateful for his interference; she was. But still!
"Next time you
Stepping forward in the middle of her new rant, Shravan cupped her face in his strong tanned hands and kissed her deeply. "I love you, Sumo. He murmured when he pulled away, his voice strong with conviction, his eyes unwavering, pouring out all his love.
She didn't know if it was the way he said it, with so much conviction, like nothing else mattered to him or because it was the perfect thing to say to make her forget the last few hours. Either way, she was tired of shouting at him and just wanted to feel his arms around her.
Knowing exactly what she wanted, he pulled her into his arms and held her tight enough to let her know that she will always her safe with him. "I love you and I don't want to see any harm come to you because I would not be able to live with myself. He said softly.
With this new understanding, she hugged him back tightly, her head against his chest, his lips pressed to her neck, their hearts beating as one, they both let out a sigh, content with being wrapped in each other arms. Because for them, being with each other was heaven and they would never let their fights or egos rob them of this peace.
What else mattered; after-all?
When she walks away from you mad . . .
Follow her.
When she pushes or hits you . . .
Grab her and don't let go.
When she starts cussing at you . . .
Kiss her and tell her you love her.
