The night was dark and stormy , sky was tar-black and large clouds began to gather in the sky. The harsh and cold wind was blowing and thunder along with lightning cascaded in the sky giving away a clear sign of heavy downpour. Where everybody rushed towards their home, she was sitting in a complete silence alone deep in thoughts... looking into nothingness.

"Toh wahan sabko preshaan kar ke madam yaha baithi hain... Ghar chaliye Miss Tiwari, everybody is worried there." Said Shravan mockingly. He knew where Sumo could be when nobody had any inkling of where she was at this hour. So he came for her or for himself, he didn't know.

It started raining heavily now and he couldn't leave her alone even if he wanted to.

"Nanu is worried sick for you. So please leave this attitude of yours and get up." Said Shravan rather aggravated but met with her silence again.

"Leave me alone," Replied Sumo in a cold voice, still looking ahead, unaffected by the cold water droplets.

"Oh to ab mujhse baat karna bhi gawara nahi tumhe. Fair enough! I'll leave but I want my answers first!" Nanu had asked Sumo to marry Aditya. Already this thought was unbearable and Sumo's silence was killing him.

His guilty father confessed everything two days ago. It broke him to no extent. But Sumo? He thought she will at least give him an explanation of her decision but no. She hasn't spoken to him since then. But now he had had enough. He wanted his answers and he'll get them no matter what.

"Ask!!" Sumo faced him slowly. Knowing very well that he won't leave. It's now or never!

"Really easy for you na just like how it was to leave me?...Why Sumo?...Was it that easy to give up on me?" The hurt and anger were evident in his voice.

"I didn't give up! It was for the time being because I had no other option." Sumo knew he won't believe but she had to clear her side of the story.

"Oh, Chuck it! Option hamesha hota hai basharte aap chaho toh. You could have come to me. Mujhe bataati. Itna to Bharosa kar hi sakti thi." It came out as a whisper at the end.

"I came Shravan. To tell you about the PCT issue thinking that there must be a misunderstanding, that you cant do that, But remember what you said?" Sumo asked him mockingly.

"But I really had no idea ab..."

"Mere bataane ke baad bhi kya farak pada Shravan? You out of all people know what PCT means to me and you could see how badly your words hurt me but still, you kept mum...You know what jab bhi baat tumhaare Papa ki hoti hai na Shravan, mera bharosa bikhar jaata hai.Tab bhi tumne apne papa pe trust kiya or is baar bhi karte...Ya phir shayad ek wajah ye bhi hai ke tum ab tak bacchpan ki Sumo ka diya dard nahi nikaal paaye ho apne dil se. You may have forgiven me but forgetting is what you didn't and that's why you don't trust me either."

"Maybe you are right but papa was always the only one who didn't hurt me...until now at least. But you...you broke me at every given opportunity dammit. Didn't you?Tum jaanti thi ke main kya bataana chahta tha tumhe us din cafe mein, tumhe pata tha ke mera dil ek baar fir tootega agar tum nahi aayi toh, tumhe dikhayi de raha tha ke main toot raha hu tumhaari ignorance ki wajah se par tumne kya kiya. Sirf tamasha dekhti rahi. Har baar mujhe chodkar khud ko chuna tumne. Asal mein main to tumhaare liye last mein aata hu ya shayad exist hi nahi karta." Her ignorance had hurt him the most.

"Aisa nahi hai Shra..." Sumo wanted to explain but Shravan didn't let her.

"Aisa hi hai. Nahi to kyu maani papa ki shart. Pushkar ya Preeti se baat karti is baare mein. Bacche nahi hai dono. Agar pyaar karte hain ek dusre se to uske liye ladte. Par nahi... tumhe to mahaan banna tha, balidaan ki murat banna tha. Sacchai to yeh hai Miss Tiwari ke ye tumhaari majboori nahi selfishness thi. Yes!!... you were selfish, you are and you'll always be, especially when it comes to me." Huffed Shravan.

"Enough Shravan!! I know ke maine bohot badi galti ki thi par uska matlab ye nahi hai ke tum uski saza mujhe zindagi bhar doge. Insaan hu main bhi, ho gayi thi galti par uski saza 10 salon tak paayi hai maine or ab bhi bhugat rahi hu. Kya lagta hai tumhe mujhe kuch feel nahi hota? Main jataati nahi iska matlab ye nahi hai ke mujhe dard nahi hota, takleef nahi hoti. As for me being selfish Mr. Malhotra, well not your fault... Suman was born with a selfish tag... Born to be blamed. Woh Sumo jisne sirf apni khushi ka socha or tumhaara dil toda, wo selfish thi. Suman jo khud ke alawa sabka sochti hai or aaj bhi tumhaara hi dil tod rahi hai, wo bhi selfish hai. Or agar aaj ye Suman apne pyaar ko bhi chunti, tab bhi selfish hi hoti. Main kuch bhi kar lu, galat hi rahungi... kisi na kisi ko to hurt karungi hi. But nobody cares what I go through. Everybody has their expectations and am killing myself everyday to fulfil them but fir bhi kami reh hi jaati hai. Main toot kar bikharti hu, sambhalti hu par haarti nahi. Hurt is what I felt for as long as I remember. Bas jataana mujhe aata nahi or samjhta koi hai nahi. I know very well how to live like a liability Shravan. I have faced the accusations of Maamiji, whenever she had to compromise with her happiness cause of me all these years. I couldn't let that happen now when it was her biggest happiness. I accept ke Main pehle bhi selfish thi or main aaj bhi selfish hoon. I did it all for my family. But tum bhi to apni family ke liye India chodkar jaa rahe the apne papa ki request ke baad bhi. Apni family ko tootne se bachane ke liye right? Toh Bhaag kyu rahe the? Pushkar samajhdaar hai usse baat karte. Uncle se baat karte or nikaalte koi raasta. Par nahi tumhe to mahaan banna tha...Kyu? What we both did was for our families but tum karo to tumhaara responsibilities or main karu to selfishness! Bas yahi farak hai." Sumo let it all out at once and Shravan found himself just staring at her, absorbing it all.

"Everyone decides for me and I am the one left heartbroken and guilty. But not anymore. My life, my choices and my decisions from now on... I will not marry Aditya or anyone for that matter." Saying so Sumo turned to walk off but Shravan held her hand instantly stopping her.

Both stood there for a long time letting the rain wash off the hurt, anger and any complain they ever had. There is a lot to say but for now its all they ever needed. To let out..the anger n complaints.

The Face Of Love

In the beginning there was rain. And the rain was colder than death.

Shravan stood beneath that pouring rain, gripping the railing with blue gone knuckles. His mind was a stark contrast to the weather outside, within him anger blazed till the seventh heaven making everything a little more of hell.

He heard the wet thunks of Suman's footsteps as she stepped outside at the balcony, but that was it, she just stood there in the distance, close yet too far.

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

Forcefully, he let out a long breath, exhaling all the bitterness with it. It was so that she could approach him, he wished to be that one person she would never feel the need to guard herself from. "You can come closer, Sumo. I won't push my own wife off the balcony, you know."

A moment of pause later, he heard movement behind him.

Her glass-bangles clanked against the metal railing as she, too, copying him put her hands on it. "You're mad at me?"

Hating how it sounded more of a statement from her mouth rather than a simple question, he nearly got a whiplash from moving his face to her direction so fast.

"Why the hell would I be mad at you?" he almost yelled in frustration but controlled his tone at the last moment.

She shrugged her stiff shoulders. "I shouldn't have left from the party like that..."

Astounded, he cut in, "The only regret I've is that you didn't wait a few more minutes or you'd have watched with your own two eyes how I blasted chachi and her so called friends' heads off."

The slumping of her shoulder was discreet but, like always, it could not get past his eyes. "However much I appreciate that you did what you did, Shravan, but they're, after all, not completely wrong." Her eyes met his, and he was certain that the impossible woman didn't know that even her tears were not hidden from him, rainwater was powerless.

A flash of thunder tore the sky in two.

He gripped her arm and hissed out, "They're freaking wrong!"

Something seemed to have snapped inside her, he could pinpoint the moment it did.

"Look at me, Shravan, look at my face," Her voice raised an octave and at the same time quivered with pain. "I'm a woman forever ruined, I'm a woman well scorned. Aditya made a joke out of my face with the acid that he had held in his hand that day. On me, marks of his hatred will always stay." She broke down in sobs finally, sliding down to the floor, knees bent in defeat for the hundredth time and each time before Shravan.

It was far easier for Shravan to have the rascal Aditya face justice in court. But harder to forfeit was the more complex monsters littering outside the courthouse.

During the past months all his Suman had heard were the gasps when she walked down the streets, seen people stare at her without blinking... like she was a clown. Suman had just been getting used to all of it. But then one day, a mother had once scurried off with her children when Shravan took her out on a date at a restaurant. Suman had joked that maybe the woman thought she had a contagious disease, that it might be the plague. Shravan was not fooled though, hurt had come out of her in waves.

Their own relatives would sometimes decide to take it up a notch, blaming Suman for what had happened to her. That she was independent was rebuked. That she broke off her engagement with Aditya, and her stubbornness, bravery and pride had been described as felonies.

Sometimes, Shravan couldn't help but think if human beings were better off alone... without society, if all it mostly did was chastising what it regarded as anomaly.

People recorded it all when Aditya had attacked her at the sidewalk. Posted pictures of her from many angles on social media acquired huge pity, a thousand amens and even more likes. Shravan had broken his laptop in infinite pieces after discovering the sickness, that not a single phone owner had thought to step in and help.

Letting his own tears dive beyond with the rain, he bent to the knee, then slowly sat down with Suman on the granite floor.

He had let her quieten down after the outburst, and now she sat slumped and spent.

"Here, I look at you," finally he told her, cupping the side of her face which had taken the most brunt. He trailed his fingertips on the uneven, reddish skin there. "And this what I look at is the face of love. You're a woman forever loved, you're a woman self-sufficient." He blinked against the blur of rainwater, or were they tears! "That b*stard's hatred be damned, can't you see how I everyday erase it with my love?" He paused to take her in his arms when she leaned in, exhausted.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

"I'm half of what I used to be," she still argued. However, the determination in her voice was lost.

"Would I be less than what I'm if I ever lose a limb, Suman?"

"Of course not..."

Without letting her finish, he cut in, "Could you ever acknowledge a handicap husband?"

She was beginning to chastise, "Shravan!..."

A knowing raised brow had her halt. "When it's the soul that should always be cherished, and perceived in order to love, because everything else's just fleeting anyway and fighting against the rest of the bloody world is worthwhile, then why do you torment yourself so?" He let his lips linger near her ear, in a breathing distance from the blistered skin.

He smiled when she closed eyes, releasing the softest of sighs.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

And in the end there was warmth, despite the rain, still colder than death.

Over again was ascertained that one would always hoist up the other, in this realm and the next, none of the souls would ever surrender.

Warmth of love

"Never regret a day in your life: good days give happiness, bad days give experience, worst day gives lessons, and best days gives memories.

~Anonymous.

"I DON'T WANT HER! I have my own family now. Husband, new responsibilities, I won't be able to look after her amidst these Papa! Please understand! Either you keep her or I'll enroll her in boarding school because I have nothing to do with her!"...finalized Piya oblivious of presence of her tiny version getting confronted to how unwanted she is.

*Thunderclaps* *Lightning*

"Haaah!!"...Suman woke up with a start, bedazzled hearing the horrific sounds of lightning. She cleared sweat buds from her temple, composed herself. This was surprising for her as it's been a long time since she had nightmares. This is because of the news she got this morning, her anxiety and nightmare.

"The day I dread coming is now before my eyes!"...she exhaled palming her face in helplessness. Aren't you being ungrateful! Her subconscious probed ..." I know I should be happy being blessed with such a wonderful gift but what if I became the same person!"...she feared.

Sighing she stepped out of bed and walked towards the balcony. Sliding the door she stood there gazing at the wondrous beauty of nature. A cloud gliding into one another creating thunderous roars leading sparks of lightning. Wind doing all better to maintain an amazing atmosphere and every possible thing devouring the heavenly tease of dribble Kids enjoying the rain fully. A smile dared to appear on her face witnessing such a beautiful scenario reminiscing her time when she was surrounded by coldness of loneliness until came her liberator...

*Flashback*

"I know you don't believe in love or relationships, fancy being in your own cold nutshell. But I want you to come out of it and see the colors of life and feel warmth of love. I have fallen for you so badly that I can't be selfish enough to let you be! I promise to redeem every broken nerve of yours to love you till my last breath to never ever let you return in that shell ever again. Just give me a chance...for the sake of us! I know you feel the same for me. Just one chance and I'll never let you down. Please....." Suman hugged him tightly even before he could finish, both crying in each other's embrace.

"You are so stuck with this crazy woman Shravan!"

"I'm crazy for my woman and hell I ever let you go now!"...he jested tightening their hug sealing a promise.

*Flashback ends*

Smiling she lifted her palm, savored feeling of dribble against her bare skin. It felt amazingly cool. She let herself free clouding her gloomy thoughts she was having before.Savoring to the fullest she stepped in the middle of balcony. Dribble teased almost every part of her body by its tingling sensations. She lifted hands sideways closing eyes simultaneously feeling the rain, she felt six again, carefree innocent.

Slightly harsh clap of thunder burst her bubble and her eyes shutter open to the most beautiful scene ahead, Mrs.Ahad playing with her daughter. Suman's smile soon vanished as she remembered how lonely her days were back then. How much she craved for mother's love and warmth. How she longed for someone to pamper her to make her feel special, to scold her whenever she made a mistake, to make her differentiate between wrong and right, to make decisions for her, to help her with her every problem, to help her sleep when she got nightmares, to pacify her when she needed it the most...In short she never received parental love. Her father died and her mother abandoned her. She had no one to look after Nanu's death. By now she was crying not even realizing it.

Suddenly whole atmosphere felt cold and unpleasant to her. Every roar felt like even nature is sorrowing along with her. Protectively she encircled her arms around her stomach and soon she was laying knees bend on floor crying bitterly. "There's no way I'm going to repeat history and let my past taint my future..." Suman cried. That's the moment when Shravan entered. Seeing his life like this he stumbled but managed to get her safe in his embrace.

"Sumo??...Sumo?..."..He kept shaking her but she drifted into darkness.

____________________

"..Stress isn't good for her health in such condition. You have to be more careful. Take care!..and... Congratulations Mr.Malhotra..." Dr.Ahad patted him and left.

Shravan was well shaken. He kissed her temple and was about to leave when a tug on his hand stopped him.

"Aren't you happy knowing a part of your warmth is bubbling inside me?"...Sumo jested knowing how much he longed for this day.

"God have mercy!...saying so he hugged her and rolling tears didn't went unnoticed by her.

"I'm so..."

"Sshhh...." He placed his hand over her stomach and tried to feel their little soul feeling overwhelmed concurrently. After some time he looked up and asked searching her eyes "Are you sure?"

"Have never been so sure my entire life. I want to be a mother I always wanted for myself"...She placed her hands over his laying on her stomach and continued... "Shravan I want him to see how much love I have stored for him. I realized I have to let go my past to seek my future happiness. It's your warmth which compelled me to come out of my nutshell now I want to make my child the happiest soul alive." This earned her a tender kiss from him.

"I can't bear the thought of losing you and now I have two beautiful reasons to live...I'll have to share you now."

"Hahaa...All yours fault. After all you wanted to give me your warmth. Now that I finally have it I want to cherish it completely. Don't know whether it's a prince or princess yet."

"I want twines!"

"SHRAVANN!!!"

"What! I don't really want you to get through this whole creepy delivery process four times.

"FOUR. TIMES! ...She blushed profusely.

"Yesss!" ...And she hid her scarlet face in his chest making him chuckle.

"I love you Sumo!" He sighed in content.

"I love you much more!"

We met again...

Night roared announcing the arrival of sudden rainfall .

Shravan accelerated his Mercedes through highway which would take him to his father after ten years...

TEN Years ...this ten years had taken more from him than it had given , but today none of it mattered to him he wanted to meet that one person who stood by him through thick and thin , RAMAKANT MALHOTRA ... If not for him all those women whom he loved dearly would have shattered him into tiny pieces.

His car betrayed him too as memories of his mother and her... was about to knock on his locked heart. Shravan was stuck in deserted area where both the sides looked as vacant as his heart and soul .

He was about to open his car bonnet when thunder striked and drenched him completely. He ran to the nearby small and little bit shaggy tea stall which also gave a little way to the rain drops in its shelter .

A small guy who was sleeping beside his master / father wake up from the sudden disturbance and saw the unwanted guests in his tea stall.

Shrvan's hand made its way to his pocket to buy a little time in this stall but the little one had other plans he took shrvan's hand in his little hand and handed him over his plastic cover which he might be using as his raincoat while sleeping .

" Tafli bandh hain sahaib, ap jab tak yaha ho ye odh lo." He went back before shravan can protest and went to sleep beside his father/master bare bodied .

Within no time that kid slipped into deep slumber ignoring the disturbing raindrops on his feet . Shravan went to him and covered him with his plastic self acclaimed raincoat as money looked too cheap infront the kids kindness. shravan decided to gift him an actual raincoat and equally safe future .

He sat on the only wodden bench of that small tea stall facing the main road . He tried to call pushkar for help phone rang and pushkar took it on first ring .

Pushkars reaction went from joyfully surprised to worried. He assured to reach there within half an hour.

Shravan took a moment to look at the midnight beauty of the highway, when his vision glued at the girl walking slowly from the distance, struggling under the umbrella to call someone.
Shravan cursed his eyes which needed no help to recognize her even after 10 years
...

" Yeah phone Q nahi lag raha" she patted her phone's back as her leg walked slowly towards her destiny and stood exactly opposite to a rigid figure giving a clearer view .

Even though his clenched teeth denied to do so his lips whispered her name subconsciously "Suman..."

As though she had heard even the soft whisper from his lips she looked up from her phone .
nor the dark night and neither blurred vision due to heavy rain stopped her heart to recognize him.

As though everything went still even the rain . As soon as her eyes met with his guilt consumed her more than the rain Even the happy tears in her eyes didn't gave her enough strength to cross the road.
( Imagine in edvk song style )

" teri who yadein...jo chaltein tere sang hain ...
Ab bhi yeh ankhein...dondhti who rang hain ...
Wohooo
Badha bhi de ab woh kadam there jo kitne sal se ...
Keh bhi de hum hain bane
Ek tujhe ke vaste..."

" Jao na ...Bat karo mujse" She jumped from the sudden voice from her side when she took a look at the owner of the voice it was not the heartbroken shoban who was standing across the road in fact he was that 16 year old best friend she had missed for 10 years.

" woh bat karega" asked suman with a edge of hope in her voice ...

" Mujhe bulao toh sahi ... Phir jee bhar ke jhagda kar lena ..." She said to shravan in her bossy attitude

" lagta hain 10 salon mein apni safai tayar nahin ki usne sumo ana hoga toh a jayegi .." said shravan a small smile playing on his lips apart from the edge of anger in his voice he didn't knew why he can never stay angry with this 16 year allaad suman.
...

" han nahin karunga ..par mujhe pata hain tu mana legi height ke sath gussa badha hain tujhse behes karne ki capacity nahin" said teenage shravan holding her hand and dragged her towards her biggest fear...

" Safai dene ke liye shikaayat bhi toh karni zaroori hain ...tu side hat teri sumo tere pas aye bagar reh hi nahin sakti" she pushed the grown up shravan to the side and made the space for grown up sumo to fill.

Shravan was shocked to see that suman was actually walking towards him more like being dragged by um...no one ..Weird...

She awkwardly sat beside him
They both stood awkwardly not knowing what to say they keep avoiding each others eye contact and sat at the wooden bench .

"London mein ..Kaisa rahan matlab ...uncle keh rahe thi ki ..." suman tried to start the conversation getting a reassuring smile from teenage shravan but before she can finish shravan practically splitted the vemon.

" I am one of the best lawyer there ..,tum ..kaisi ho?? I mean I hope tumhara who chota sa tiffin service se thik thak guzara hota hoga"

"han wahin se a rahi hoon " her self respect didn't gave her permission to answer his question so she preferred to stay quit

Phuhkar came as saving grace and was happily surprised to see suman too and offered the much needed help.

This night ended but new story had started and the two teenagers who stayed behind knew this very well.
