Chapter 22
(part 1)
She forgave me! She forgave me! I couldn't contain my happiness, yes she forgave me, for everything, for marring her forcefully, for ruining her relation with her nanu! Now that she willingly came to ask me for a dance, and then admitting she couldn't dance! I stifled a laugh! My Sumo had never failed to amuse me!
"Mujhe kisi aur ke sath dance nahin karna" it sounded like a song to me! I felt the same, I didn't want to leave her from my embrace but still "can't break the pattern no! " She smiled at me, sadness in her smile was so visible that my heart did a back flip, she wanted me! But to my dismay lights went off suddenly but for couple of minutes! I stood there, expecting her to return in my arms, but where was she!
"Sumo..." I turned around, took out my phone and dialled her number, my jacket's pocket vibrated! "Oh shit, usne to dance ke pehele mujhe rakhne ke liye di thi! She must be in washroom." I thought! I went to the ladies washroom and shouted from outside of the closed door, "Sumo tum andar ho... Sumo... " . An aged woman opened the door and said "Andar koi nahin hai..." looking at me weirdly she locked the door!
"Kahan ho tum Sumo!" I went again into the banquet hall, hoping to see her, but no! I called papa this time, " papa sumo wahan 2nd floor pe ayi hai kya! " All the elder people were there at the second floor, and we were at the 1st. "Nahin to.. Woh yahan kyun ayegi! " he paused "hua kya hai Shravan, kahan hai Suman? "
"Pata nahin papa,, maine sab jahga dhoonda, par woh kahin nahin mili!"
"Nahin mili matlab? " papa sounded angry "Tum ruko wohin main aur Nirmala aa rahe hain! "
It had been four hours, till Sumo's missing! "See, commissioner, it's my daughter in law I am talking about, Ramnath Malhotra's Daughter in law, I don't care about what your law says! I can't wait for 24 hours, do whatever you want, but want my daughter in law! " Papa snapped.
"Papa, Bhaiya,... " Pushkar hastened through the door! "Maa ka phone mila, sabse pehele jo bhi flight mili, aa gaya! Par yeh Sumo..." he paused looking at me " don't worry bhaiya woh mil jayegi! Please stay calm! "
"Pata nahin kis haal mein hogi woh! " my whole world was falling apart, "And these bloody hotel persons, what is it with them Papa, ek footage laane mein itni time! " Yes I demanded the CCTV footage of the party, I just wanted to see on my own eyes!
"Sir... " a person arrived with kamal there and gawked at me "Footage aa gaya sir! " Pushkar sprang from my side and put the CD in the CD player. There was nothing much to see, except for Alisha talking to Suman, "Yeh ladki Suman k sath kya kar rahi hai! " Maa pointed!
So this was the reason of Sumo's sudden change in her behavior, only God knew what she told to Sumo! There were glimpses of me and Sumo dancing, but then the screen went dark! "Yeh kya hua! " Papa shouted to that man,
"Sorry sir, technical problems ki wajah se current off ho gaya tha, aur kuch record nahin kar paye, pura system corrupt ho gaya hai sir! "
This was my limit, "Main nikal raha hoon! " I grabbed my car keys "Main aise yahan pe baith nahin sakta, pata nahin Sumo kahan hogi! Police ke bharose raha to.. Pata nahin... "
"Haan bhaiya., thik socha aapne, chaliye main bhi chalta hoon aapke sath! " Pushkar followed me outside to our garage!
"Bhaiya, aap chodiye main drive karta hoon! " he nodded at me, I barked a laugh, true, I couldn't even stand straight right now, as if earth beneath me shaking horribly just to engulf me into itself!
"Bhaiya baitho.. "
"Hmm"
We were about to exit through our gate, suddenly Pushkar halted "Bhaiya... "
"Sumo... " I gasp!
"Sumo.. Kahan thi tu... Hum itne pareshaan ho rahe the! Raat ke 3 baj rahe hai! Aur tu... " but Sumo didn't budge! I knelt down in front of her, caressing her face, "Sumo... Please kuch to bolo.. Kahan thi tum? Please.. Sumooo.. "
There something must had happened, if not, why would I feel uncanny! Suddenly Sumo jolted, as if she was sleeping, she looked at me, those eyes, the emotions in those eyes, I couldn't fathom, but it twisted my gut...
"Tum jante the? " she whispered!
"About what Sumo? " Somehow I managed to utter, but this was bad something terribly bad!
"Tum jante the? " this time she asked more louder "Aap sab jante the? "
"Kya jante the beta bolo beta? " Maa asked her.
" Unka accident.. " she mumbled!
"Accident? Kiska? "
"Mere Maa Papa ka! You all knew it right, from the very beginning right? That was why Maa offered me job.. " she howled!
"No beta main tab nahin janti thi! Ram ne baad mein tumhare bare mein pata lagaya to pata chala beta... " Maa tried to reason!
But I knew, the damage had been done, nothing left, not anymore, I had lost her!
"Suman beta, there was a reason beta, you need to calm down to understand, you don't know the whole story! " Papa pleaded to her but I could feel his eyes were on me!
"Story, whole story, I care a damn about that! I was living with bunch of cheaters!" she sobbed "I was in love with a lier! "
"Was.. " I looked at her, "Already a past Sumo? "
"Yes, past shravan, you just... Just... " she ran towards our room.
