Thank you for taking the time to humor me and answering my never-ending questions! It helps move quite a few of the puzzle pieces in place for sure.Shravan would have been a completely different man - for better or worse - had Sumo stood by him all those years ago when his mother had left him. At that impressionable age, he had few worthwhile women/girls in his life who he could really use to question the misogynistic views his father was filling his head with. Instead, with her brash, uncaring, selfish behavior, Sumo had actually seemed hold up the image of the women his father had been telling him about.Yet, he hasn't been able to shrug her off. His life really starts falling apart every time Sumo gives him a jolt. But even then, is Sumo the only constant in his life? Doesn't his life revolve around both Ramnath AND Sumo? The thought of losing one pushed him to the brink of insanity, and the thought of losing the other turned him into a bitter, cold-hearted beast. No one affects him the way these two do.I think you made a very valid point when you said that the knowledge that Sumo was pushed into accepting Aditya's proposal by Naanu would probably open his eyes and make him examine every single choice she has made in a different light. He would hopefully try to consider the context of the decision and not just the decision itself. We have been seeing him side with Ramnath, not only because of his troubled history with Sumo and his blind love and faith in his dad, but also because he really doesn't know/hasn't been made privy to any of Sumo's compulsions. Knowledge is the only thing that can set him free. As we have been discussing over the past few days, he needs to know some of the murky details that have led to the current situation. Unless he has that knowledge, status quo is what we'd see.
Ramnath is very important to Shravan not only because he is his father but, unlike the other important people in his life ...his father stayed with him through thick and thin. For Shravan, this is fundamental to how he has interpreted all relationships. His father stands supreme because he had the courage and the conviction to follow his heart...even when he could have left him as well. He never abandoned him ...he valued this vulnerable guy for what he was...Yet, ironically Shravan has still looked up to Sumo to find the meaning of his life...Sumo did leave him at a crucial juncture when other pieces of his life were all collapsing...But, he returned from London to meet that same girl, one who was selfish and self-centered...Why?Sumo left, abandoned him ...but, this guy never disassociated his connection with her...either though the virtual world or through his memories of her...he kept an image of Sumo alive in his heart..Kaun Sumo? Can also be answered as the girl who was loved by a man who never let go of that image, of that memory, of that dream which they had built together...Yes, knowledge is important but so is one's realization that one requires that awareness..You cannot force down any man's throat that this is what you need to grow...Shravan needs to arrive at that particular stage when he feels that his interpretation of Sumo or Nirmala or Ramnath is lacking...And then will he feel the need to quench his thirst for knowledge...Anu, Rosh and Nith...wonderful discussions👏
