Part 2

Shravan decided it was now or never. I can't wait anymore. I have to tell her. I have to tell her the real reason as to why I feel like this. As to why I said all those. I have to...

Shraavan slowly kneeled down beside the bed and took her hands in his own hands...

...

"Sumo di?" called out Preeti as she walked into the room...seeing Shravan kneeling like that with his hands in Sumo's hand Preeti knew she had interrupted them...

"uh, woh sorry" she said looking down at the ground.

"Woh Ramnath uncle aye huye hai, Shravan woh aapse baath karna chahathe hai" Preeti said with clear disgust on her face.

Shravan looked into Sumos eye, speaking through his eyes he told her he will soon tell her what he wants to say ...

Sumo without saying something just nodded slowly indicating she had understood him..

Shravan got up and walked out into the main lounge.

Ramnath looks up at Shravan and says "Tiwari ji ne muhje sab kuch bata diya...I hope tum ye decision soch samaj ke loge. Humari purani conversation yaad karna Shravan. Ye tumhari zindai ka sawal hai. Chalo hum ab ghar par ja ke au bate kharenge..."

Shravan just nodded...

They were about to head out of Tiwari Killa when Ramnath said "Shravan tum jao mein bas Tiwari ji se kuch baath kar ke aatha hoon"

Shravan silently nodded and started heading towards his car...Suddenly he stopped in his tracks. "I need to go see Sumo before I go, papa ke aane ke karan mein kuch bol nahi paya tha use, mein ja kar usse atleast ache se bye kardu"

Saying that he started heading back towards the house, he again stopped in his tracks and looked to his right, the side entrance, which would lead directly to Sumos room window.

"This way will be quicker" he thought to himself.

He quickly made his way towards Sumo room, he reached there and saw Sumo still sitting on her bed..

She was sitting there starring off into space, her eyes fixed at one spot..Shravans heart clanged as he saw what state he had put her in.

He was just about to climb through the window when he saw Ramnath walking into Sumos room and closing the door behind him...

Ramnaths actions had confused Shravan, he stopped and took a step back, hiding himself from their views...

"Suman" Ramnath called out to her as she was still zoned off..

Sumo got out of her trance and looked at Ramnath, she got tensed and quickly stood up. Shravan noticed her change in behaviour, she looked really anxious.

"Suman, mein ye sab kya sun raha hoon. I hope tumhe apne wada yaad hai." Ramnath said with attitude

"Wada, papa ye kaunsi wada ke bareme baath kar rahe hai" Shravan thinks as he curiously listens.

"Mein Tiwari ji ko na nahi bol paunga but tum na bol sakti ho. Mein tumse kal yahi umeed karoga. Aur Shravan fir tumse iss bare mein baath karne ke khoshish kare tho tum unhe fir na bolna"

"Papa ye sab kya bol rahe hai, muhje kuch nahi samaj mein aa raha hai" Shravan says confusedly.

"Ramnath uncle, aap ko muhje apna promise dilane ki zaroorat nahi hai. Ab Preeti aur Pushkar ke shaadi ache se hogayi hai par fir mein aapke aur Shravan ke beech mein aane ki koshish kabhi nahi karungi." Sumo said with fierce look in her eyes.

"Kaunsa bloody promise? Pushkar aur Preeti ki shaadi? Ye ho kya raha hai" Sravan has started feeling angry just listening to them two and not knwing what they were on about.

"Aaap abhi bhi muhjme Nirmala aunty ki tharha independency aur self respect ke vajaye se apkoo mein pasand nahi hoo...aur apko nahi lagta hai ki main Shravan ke liye right hoon." Sumos tone clearly changing as she speaks.

Shravan got lost in his thought for a second...He remembers his dad saying those words about Sumo to him before...He snaps out of his thoughts and asays to himself "Par dad ne tho mhje apne dil ki baatein bolne ke liye kahi thi...aur ye kaunsa promise hai jo ye dono baar baar bolte hai".

"Haan tum right nahi ho Shravan ke liye. Tumhare koi compatibility nahi hai" Ramnath said with confidence.

"Uncle muhje nahi lagta hai ki aap apne bete ko khud samaj paye ho" Sumo said with confidence in herself.

Shravan is getting shocked to see and hear his dad and Sumo speaking to eachother like this. He can see that there is definitely something has happened between the two.

"Bas" Ramnath said loudly.

"Mein jo bhi kar raha hoon apne bete ke bhalai ke liye kar raha hoon" Ramnath retorted to what Sumo said.

"Bhalai? Ek dost ko apne dost se door karna...ye aap bhalai samajthe ho? Sumo chocked back on her nearly formed tears in her eyes.

Shravans curiosity is now killing him, he doesn't know what to think...what is he hearing...What are they saying. What is happening, his mind has started going into overdrive now. Is this why she was ignoring him during the shaadi? Was it because of his dad...That would make so much more sense now..eyerytime he tried to talk she would come up with a stupid excuse...

"Hahah" Ramnath laughed hysterically.

"Suman, mein jantha hoon ki tumhari feelings towards Shravan kya hai"

"Feelings? Towards me? Kya hai?!" Shravan started thinking.

"Par tumhe yeh samajna hoga ki Shravan ko aisa koi feelings tumhare bare mein nahi hai". Ramnath said smirking.

"Kaunse feelings ke bare mein aap bol rahe hai" Shravan thought to himself whilst looking at them two

"Tum Shravan ko pasand karthi ho, par wo tumhein bilkul pasand nahi kartha. Wo tumhein nafrat karta hai. Jetne jaldi tum ye baath samjthi ho, usme hum sab ki bhalai hogi" Ramnath said bitterly.

"What?! Sumo muhje PASAND karti hai? Holy shit Sumo muhje pasand karti hai" a small smirk formed on Shravans face but it quickly faded as he thought again and realised "par ye baath papa ne muhje kyu nahi batai? Woh tho jante the ki mein Sumo ko pasand kartha hoon...Papa ye aap...Ye apne thik nahi kiya"

Shravan is fuming now, how could his dad keep this from him? He told his dad everything and yet he kept the biggest most important thing from him? His dad knew how much pain he was in, how much he was hurting regarding Sumo but he never told him anything about how she felt towards him. How could he do that?!

"Haan humlog ke beech jagde hohe hai, but hum ek doosre ke barein mein bahut care karte hai. Aur haan mein Shravan ko pasand karti hoon. Bahut din se karti hoon. Aur aage fir karugi. Chahe humlog ke beech mein kya ho, mein usse humesha pyaar karthi rahugi. Aur aap chahe ya na chahe, par mein aur Shravan Ek Duje Ke Vaaste hi bane hai. Ek na ek din, usko aapke sach samaj ayega aur wo akar khud muhje apne feeelings ke liye batayega" Sumo let it all out in one go, she can't stand the man infront of her

"WO MUHJE PYAAR KARTHI HAI" Shravans heart screamed in joy and happiness.

"Par papa ye sab..."Shravan can't seem to be able to think straight anymore...It seems as if some bomb has been dropped and has shattered everything in his life. The one person who has been there with him since birth has cheated him in the most cruel way possible. How could he?! Shravan couldn't comprehend how his dad has kept something so big away from him. His dad knew how much he loved Sumo, heck he even knew about Sumo loving him but he never told Shravan. WHY? Why dad...why..Shravan had visible tears in his eyes. His dad had just broken his heart. All the trust, all the love, all the respect he had for his dad had vanished. Shravan Malhotra couldn't bare to stand there and listen to anymore lies of his dad, but he had to ..he had to know the whole story.

"Apne had mein raho. Tumne muhjse promise kiya tha ki agar mein Pushkar aur Preeti ki shaadi achi se hone doon thab tum Shravan se door rahogi. Maine apna side nibhaya ab tume apne. Aur Suman ek aur baath, tumne us din fir se muhje yakeen dilaya tha ki tum Shravan ke liye thik nahi hon jis din tumne who cheque inkaar kar di...le leti tho kya ho jatha? Shaadi etni aur ache se hothe..." Ramnath spewed more venom

"Papa ne Preeti aur Pushkar ke shaadi ki ek sauda ki..ek deal, ek promise...papa aap etne gire huye hai muhje pata nahi tha" Shravan thought with distress.

"Muhje apni own kamai pe chalna acha lagta hai" Sumo simply replied.

"Muhje yahan tumse ladai nahi karni hai..sirf aur sirf ye batana tha ki Shravans se door raho, aur meri ghar ke bahu bane ki sapne math dekho. Mein ye kabhi pura nahi hone dooga koi bhi halath mein" Ramnath said with anger and walked out of her rom.

Shravan stood there still, scared to move because he could feel his knee going weak. His whole body was going weak, he felt like there was no more that he could handle. "How and when did this all happen. Why did Sumo never tell him. She has been hurting so much because of this, because of his papa. How could his papa do such a thing. Does he not want my happiness, does he not see where my happiness lies" Shravans thought process was running 100km per second.

He couldn't deal with life right now...He looked up and saw Sumo.

Sumo was clenching onto their childhood photo frame and crying...he could see her crying her heart out but yet he still couldn't do anything about it. He couldn't go in and console her...If he did she would straight out deny everything that happened between her and his father. Sumo will never want to interfere or ruin his relationship with his father, even if it meant sacrificing her own with him.

Shravan thought the best thing to do right now would be to go home and think of his next move. He needs to do something and that too fast...he needs to take action asap.

"I love you Sumo, mein sab kuch thik kardunga, ye mera wada hai tumse" he whispered as he looked at her one last time and walked away.
