Shravan Malhotra
The one who lacks love from those who he loves consciously and unconsciously.

It started off as a crush. Little Shravan was crushing on our little jhalli Sumo. Innocent crush. Who knew it could turn out to be one the biggest blessing yet pain in his life.

Everyday during their teenage years spent together, he would do everything for Sumo. Whether it was doing her homework, assignments or teasing her just to see her smile.

Shravan was a happy go lucky guy at that age, in his eyes things were going well...Besides the fact that Sumo would treat him like shit at school, as if he is some nerdy weirdo...just to maintain her 'Sumo' status. However, at home..they were best friends! They would do everything together, she would cook for him and he would do her school work for her. It was the kind of understanding and communication they had ... none the less, they also fought like Tom and Jerry. It was their thing, they would fight and makeup and everything would go back to being normal.

As you can imagine, this is young and naive Shravan...who fell hard day by day for Sumo. His feelings grew whilst they spent more and more time together being the best of friends. He realised his feelings for her early on, and manning up at such a young age, he planned on telling her exactly how he felt. Being a teenager in love is a whole new feeling, the butterflies, the random smiling. Shravan was in love. He was on cloud 9. He was young, but he was really mature for his age regarding love. He knew what he was doing was the right thing to do. However, much to his dismay Sumo didn't take him seriously at school when he had told her he wanted to tell her something very important.

During this time period, Shravan's life took the turn for the worst. He lost someone who he loved so dearly. He lost someone who no one should ever experience losing, specially not in their teen life. He lost someone who he looked upto to. He lost someone who meant the world to him. He lost his Ma.

His Ma. His Ma had left him. She left him and his dad. She left him and went away. She didn't die. She just left. Without saying goodbye. Without giving him a hug. Without explaining why. Without him.

His world fell apart. Lost for words, lost for love, lost without his Ma. Hurt? No. Hurt wouldn't do justice explaining as to how Shravan had felt. To make matters worse, when he went to the person who he thought could comfort him the most...he was left disappointed. Unlike Shravan, Sumo hadn't matured enough, she was still in being the 'cool' phase at school. She had insulted Shravan about his mum and dad without even thinking as to what she was saying. She broke him further. Not only Shravan had just lost his Ma, he felt like after Sumo's outburst...he had lost the will to even live. He couldn't bear it anymore.

Broken. Torn apart.

He was broken, in every single way. Being left. Being abandoned by his own mother without a reason or even a goodbye...how..,how can a person live feeling so shit about life.

Sumo had added to the wound, she tore him further apart when she pretended to not give a shit about him when he needed her the most. He had never asked Sumo for anything in his life except food she cooked but nothing else besides that. So this one time, one time when he speaks to her about his most personal problem, he gets nothing but a slap on his face in disguise of words being barked down at him. On the day he needed her the most..she wasn't there for him. He couldn't comprehend the fact that he loved her so much and she didn't recognise how hurt or in pain he was. He needed the comfort. Yet she couldn't provide that. He had been with her when she went through the loss of losing her parents. He had always comforted her in her times of need. He had always been there for her. He was mature. She wasn't. So much for 'friendship' and 'love'.

That was it. He couldn't handle it anymore. Being reminded of his Mother and Suman everyday...he couldn't deal with it. He was done. He had made the decision to move to London. To stay away from the so called women in his life that 'he loved'.

From that point onwards, he had developed a very low and shallow opinion regarding women. However that wasn't his fault. Due to the unfortunate circumstances, it led for him to grow this hatred about women in him. It wasn't completely all his opinion either, he was made to believe that women are shallow. That women are low. That women love their self-respect more than anything. That women will do anything if it benefits them. That women are not capable of loving.

10 Years later when he had retuned, when he saw his sumo after so long, emotions were at its peak. After so long of not communicating with someone who he 'loved' the emotions were drowning. He pretended to not give a shit about Suman. He pretended to not know who Suman Tiwari was. he pretended that he had forgotten all about their friendship. He pretended to not recognise her. He pretended to make it known that she was no one in his life. Heck he didn't even acknowledge her presence. But. Every time he pretended, he died a little on the inside. He was dying to just speak to her. He was dying to tell her about his life. He was dying to know what she has been doing for the past 10 years. He was dying to touch her. He was dying to call her Sumo. He was dying.

But. He was then reminded of how shallow and low Sumo was. He remembered how much hurt, pain, broken, disappointed he was when she wasn't there for him when he needed her the most.
