Interesting query, Amulya.
Nothing has been put across beyond friendship...True.
But if I had faith in that friendship, I'd stay a true friend...despite knowing my feelings may not be reciprocated..I'd still talk with the friend first about the proposal first- lay it out in the open and ask what he wants...In Suman's case, Shravan and Nanu complicated it.

But Shravan's harsh words and actions..she knows him inside out...and knows he says that for a reason...so if I were in her place, I'd wonder what turned my friend so much against me and try to rectify that...and Suman does know part of the problem here...what I appreciate is the fact that she still wanted to break it to him in her time..Adi complicated that.

Nanu - Nothing much she can do about the old man demanding a dying wish so he can live...

This is a show, so Suman's trust in Shravan's friendship has broken...but she can think back (he can as well...but since the Q is addressed to a girl's POV) and know him for who he is..why he acts this way...in what way she can help him...make some SACRIFICES...with no compromise on self respect...In a real life situation it can definitely be handled better than this.

Shravan's "Mujhe pta hai" and Sumo's "Jis din usey mere pyaar ka andaja hoga tab aap usey rok nhi paoge" proves so. But there is always a 'If' in a relation until the person expresses his feelings leaving no doubt in the other person's mind. Mind and heart are always at war and circumstances play a great role on who wins it. Many find sumo contradicting herself and I find myself contradicting myself so many times. Sumo sometimes become realistic and sometimes overwhelmed by her feelings and emotions.

I think this is really it... until it has been vocalized there will always be a war of mind and heart. Just because you believe something doesn't mean you will always stay sure of it. And it may not even be a question of love.. it may be a question of suitability or trust.

And I agree about the consistency thing.. its not really fair to expect someone to react the same in every circumstance.

Amulya once again you put it beautifully...Kudos girl!
To be honest even I was pretty dissatisfied with Sumo for readily accepting the marriage proposal without much fight back or atleast trying to find a work around to rescue both, her relation with Shravan as well as nanu's health. She could have talked it out with Nirmala and Aditya. But along with that I also do agree that for her everything happened too quickly.

I dont know how many people will agree but I feel her decision, how much wrong it may be, was majorly over-powered by her fear to be left all by herself. Remember when Sharvan came to see nanu and she was crying, she mentioned about being afraid to live without nanu and he didnt say that he will be by her side. That thing DID bother her a lot. Because as of now the girl is literally feared to be left alone. Had Shravan not said so many nasty things to her she might have been a bit more hopeful. But with Shravan against her, totally unable to see beyond her superficial rudeness, she seems to have lost even the little hope of him making the first move. And she cant make the first move, thanks to Ramnath. So that li'l hope of him realizing her love w/o her intervention was lost too.

Amidst all this the only hope she had to save that one person who could prevent her from being lonely all over again( ie nanu) was saying yes for marriage which she did. And definitely having Nirmala as a MIL did come across as an additional security factor to her solace.

So I feel as much as Shravan's condition need to be pitied upon so does her as well. We don't blame him when he misunderstand her and term her as selfish because we know that is natural for him with Ramnath always poisoning his mind. Similarly we should not blame Sumo if she chose nanu over Shravan because that was her need of the hour. It was kinda do or die for her. She could have told to nanu that she didn't love Aditya but again that would have left him more distressed and she might have lost nanu. I am sure if Ramnath was on death bed and his last wish was Shravan marrying to some other girl, even he might have done it.

Amulya,
I feel somewhere it's a creator's loss when a love story divides the audience into opposite camps. I am not saying that there will not be greater empathy for one over another and that's fairly natural becos we always look at a story through the prism of our sensibilities...So, a position taken by one character may ring more true than another. However a classic love story succeeds only when both characters manage to touch our hearts...A love story wins when both characters seem EKDV 😉 Luckily this serial is named that so be rest assured that they will make that happen...
Also the story must be seen as the dynamics at play are not only of a 28 year Shravan and a 26 (?) old Sumo...The dynamics at play are those of the teenagers and the impressions they have formed of each other in the period they were thick as thieves . ..No doubt they have matured and their relationship would reflect the understanding and reactions of today's events but at the core lies their relationship of the old...that is the base...their expectations from each other are of that period. Their disappointments, if any, are also of that period (Shravan's for sure is) To me the fact that this story begins at that stage is the most interesting aspect of this story.

You may well have noticed...this din of whose position is right has got stronger now when actions are getting more difficult to interpret, which means that the creators must make more attempts for the buy in of the actions of the leads...(for u it may be Shravan for someone it may be Sumo)

Even in the past, we have had posts which used to criticise actions of characters in tracks...How can Sumo do this, how can Shravan do this? However, most of these would appear to be simple discussions based on personal points of view. I used to make posts then to say...that let's not forget we are seeing the creator's version here...not our own...So how Sumo or Shravan will behave should be judged by their individual character brief...So if there are true to their character its fair and square. Within that though we may have our differences of opinion on how the track was handled.

However, the posts have increased and the din has perhaps gotten stronger...Personally, I have found Shravan behaving as per his characterisation throughout. By I do not mean to say that his actions are per my sensibility...all I mean to say is from the narrative presented by the maker, his actions look "in character" .

As far as Sumo is concerned, I have had a little more difficulty in analysing her actions but they have made sense to me though sometimes in hindsight (until the PCT_Aditya matter). This is so because her character traits have been presented to us in a more subtle way that of Shravan but it is Sumo who forms the POV of the story and so she is the person you get to see being in the privileged position of taking decisions(even if they are forced on her 😉) and having a bird's eye view of all that is before her. So the way I understand Sumo is that of a person who has high level of expectations from Shravan...(quite clearly in the same way Shravan in this track has had becos he has grown bolder in articulation of desire for Sumo...after the Sumo terrace incident and the subsequent cafe incident, just as Sumo's set of expectations can be seen in her challenges to Ram after the cafe incident). At the same time, she is also quite clearly a person who behaves differently with Shravan (as compared to the rest) Its like Shravan is her safety net or blanket.. She is insecure at the core. which is amply demonstrated in the Sumo double scene. However what has not made complete sense is her inability to make the PCT_Aditya connection to the issue of Shravan's anger with her...considering she is privy to all aspects of the information. She knows he was the owner of the land, he was jealous of Aditya. The dots are not that diffi to join...(though I know the answer to that...If she did, the MU also comes to an end and the timing is not yet ripe for it😆😆)

Your question contains your answer...And Roshni has explained it well😳

However, I shall try to answer it as best as I can (I am afraid not better than Roshni)...
Your first post was on SS...you relate to Sumo more and less with Shravan. Because he has never articulated his love so for him to demand anything more from Sumo is wrong or illogical. My answer to you was then why Sumo was perturbed with the announcement itself...She knew he was upset. How could she have known when he had blasted her the other day at PCT?
Love often requires words...maybe it does...it gives you a sense of security and makes you feel confident. But, then Aditya did verbalize his love in front of Nanu and Sumo and yet he was not secure...though Sumo had agreed to the proposal. He kept on asking her to verbalize it...when she refused he announced his marriage. He wanted her to be bound to the promise she gave to Nanu, so went for a public announcement that Sumo cannot retract her statement. His words were spoken and articulated... and yet, it never was felt by a certain Suman Tiwari.
Because you will say she is in love with Shravan.
But, then this same Shravan had behaved quite rudely with her at the PCT...and she herself mouthed that I shall no longer wait for him. And yet, when she hears that he is nowhere to be seen she is concerned. Why and how does she feel for Shravan? When Sumo challenged Ramnath...why do you think she did that...Because she was Sumo and she loved challenges...No, because she was confident in his love...love for her. She told Ramnath clearly he will come for me. It was a case of faith and trust in love, a love which was instilled by a certain Shravan Malhotra...that he will not fail her.
Why was Shravan so upset at hearing the news of PCT? Because of jealousy...no
Because he heard something from Aditya which shook up his core belief in love...a love which had been created by her trust in him. Aditya said you are no longer the special one...I am. Notice the words you have been toppled from her heart...I hold her affections now...and PCT acted as the proof of it...
Shravan's faith in love and trust was shaken and yet, notice even during the wedding announcement (which transpired the day after) ...he was shaken up...why? After what had transpired as yourself say at the PCT...he should have remained unaffected. Maybe he is mad or deranged or plain jealous you might say...

But the answer is different...
Because a tiny section of his heart still throbbed with the idea that Sumo cannot desert him. She was his special friend. ...It was this idea also which died out the other day...
Yet, love if pure shall endure and will renew, rejuvenate itself and dispel chaos and darkness...
Sumo and Shravan are confident about their love and as Shravan saw her in the rearview mirror (during accident scene) looking backwards...towards her and for her...Love might have to face many hurdles born out of our inner demons or by external circumstances, yet if it is Love in the truest sense it shall not alter...it shall be pa part of our life in psite of the change in clime or space. Shravan's shayari of sardi ki dhoop was one such instance.
For me love itself is a language and a idiom which binds other language...it being spoken can only be understood if two hearts beat for each other...otherwise mere words shall fail...
Coming to your next query...how long will one wait in an uncertain relationship? You asked a question which is general and related not to the fictional world. Your question pertains to the external world which we inhabit, not the world of the text. And that for me is a cardinal mistake. Why equate reel and real? Even if this show has been termed realistic...are we supposed to read the actions of the characters as against our own? I suggest no...the characters have a say only within the world created by the writers of this show...We have to see whether the characters are consistent enough with the idea with which they were created.
We are not Sumo or Shravan..and even if we empathize with them at several times within the story...it is because the world of the show makes sense to us. Not because Sumo or a Shravan is waiting to confess...Realistic show means that all of a sudden Sumo doesnt transform into a fly or Shravan transmogrifies into a werewolf...the changes, the transformations, the rise and fall of the characters ought to make sense within this show we call EDKV...
I hope I made some sense...😆

👏👏 Indrani...take a bow...your explanation is concise precise lucid expressive and just perfect. You do have a way with words

Suman I think is sure that he loves her. But at the same time she also knows that he doesn't trust her, thinks of her as selfish, thinks she will ditch him at any moment and he also believes that she loves to play with his emotions...
that's why when she didn't turn up at cafe, he should have gone to her house and talked to her then only... but ...
otherwise why would a guy won't react when a girl fanatically searches for him at 2 in the night that too alone?😕

Given Nanaji's condition and Ramu's blackmailing, now she doesn't have enough time to clear his ever occurring doubts about her character...

😆😆
