Suman said to the man standing in front of her. Her sarcastic tone said it all. She smiled sardonically
"You defeated me. I lost him. He hates me. You won."
"Suman..."
The man attempted to speak in his usual grouchy voice but she cut him in the middle
"Don't! You snatched everything from me. Meri zindagi, meri khushiyan, mera pyaar sab kuch chin liya apne uncle. Mujhse meri duniya, mera Shravan apne chin liya. Main na kisi aur ko kabhi uski jagah de paungi na kabhi kisi aur ke saath khush reh paungi. Par ha shayad ye nafrat uske liye accha hai. Aapki waje se jo zakhm maine use diye hai uske liye yeh ek dava hai. Kam se kam woh toh khush rahega. Uski khushi mein hi meri khushi hai. Afros, yeh baat aap samajh nehi paye. Aaj maine apna sab kuch kho diya. Sirf aapke waje se."
Ramnath nodded adversely. He pitied the girl who was all drenched in rain with her eyes glistening but she needed to understand that she was blaming him for no reason
"Dekho Suman, maine tumhe pehle hi kaha tha ki tun aur Shravan ek duje ke liye nehi bane ho. Maine tumhe apni bete ki zindagi se dur jaane ke liye kaha toh isme meri galati kaha hai. I am his father. I have every right to make him take the right decision in life. Akhir yeh uski zindagi ka sawal hai. Trust me Suman, maine sirf uski valai chahi hai. Aur tumhari bhi. Tum apni self respect, apni ambitions ke liye mere bete ko kabhi bhi chorke ja sakti ho..."
"Main Shravan ke liye puri duniya chor sakti hu!"
Suman yelled. She had reached her limit. She was not going to back off. Not anymore. This man had taken her love for granted. He had made fun of her love, her feelings. And now that she had lost everything, she was going to let him know how deeply she loved his son. Though it wouldn't make any difference; she had realized it by then. Ramnath Malhotra wasn't going to be convinced at any cost because he didn't want to be. But she felt the urge to spit it out on his face
"Shravan chahe toh main uske liye apni jaan bhi de du. Sapne toh bohot choti kimat hai uske pyaar ke samne. Par woh kabhi aisa karega hi nehi. Kyuki jitna woh mujhse pyaar karta hai utna hi woh meri aur mere sapno ki izzat bhi karta hai. Woh aapka beta hai par aapke jaisa nehi hai."
Suman paused to breathe while Ramnath was at loss of words. Suman waited for a few seconds to calm herself and then carried on
"Hum ek duje ke liye hi bane hai uncle. Ha apne mujhe haraya toh hai, mujhe laga tha chahe kaise bhi ho Shravan ko ek din mere pyaar ka ehsas ho jayega. Par ab woh kabhi nehi hoga. Thanks to you. But I loved him, I still love him and I always will. And you can never change that! Ekdin aapne aise hi Nirmala Aunty ko bhi haraya tha aur aaj main bhi usi jagah khari hu. Congratulations uncle!"
Suman turned around and left and Ramnath still couldn't offend as he stood there flabbergasted. The girl was wrong. He still didn't switch his opinion
"I couldn't make her stop loving my son. She defeated me. It is me who failed not her."
Ramnath concluded. Little did he know that his cat's paw had witnessed the whole drama and he was not going to get fooled by his father's cupboard love. Not anymore.
