Indrani, sometimes Sumo's love for Shravan, even though real and deep, comes across as one of convenience. She does not love as deeply and completely as he does. But that could be the direction.

Awesome👏
Shravan's love for Sumo is one which has not only transcended time and covered huge distances...it has also translated in the realization of love being articulated in different hearts. Case in point, his letter read by three significant characters of the show...Ramnath, Chachi and Sumo...and all immediately know and experience his love. No words spoken, no words explained...yet, all knew that his love for Sumo was not a mere infatuation, was not a mere whim, had not grown old or had altered. His spoken words that he had 'moved on' failed to make an impact on Sumo and she knows he remains her chashmish superman. Ramnath approached Sumo to back off because he knew his son's love for Sumo was deep...he knew he had to approach the other half. Its another matter that the other half also reposes the same belief and trust that his son has towards his love...This love of Shravan has made him what he is...both as a person who is willing to give his all and yet also a person who is insecure...because of the same very past...
When Aditya mentioned you are no longer the special one...I am...it was again a recurrence of the old Shravan who had felt abandoned by young Sumo. A Sumo who had buckled under peer pressure and her loneliness...
Shravan felt alone...his confidence that his Sumo will not fail him...was crashed...What remained were broken pieces...His whole identity had revolved around Sumo...He had unconsciously drawn an S on a notebook...he had cancelled it...thinking 'S' meant Sumo, forgetting the fact that 'S' also referred to Shravan...His whole life is entwined with Sumo...his subjectivity draws sustenance from her...Yesterday,it was that lay shattered...
Sumo...the girl who waited, who knew he would come back, who knew that their bonds of friendship cannot be broken by just one mistake..She knew her Shravan will forgive because love does not change with time or clime...If it is love...it shall endure till the end of time
Sumo the girl whose only fault has been that she misread the situation ...If last time it was her loneliness, her fear that she would remain alone...Now, the continued pressure of family and rising debt allowed her to be swayed by Aditya's smooth words...She heard self-respect, and acknowledgement of her skills...investors promoting her...
And hence she forgot the key issue of why only this piece of land...why not any other? And she lost...
Question is not who is wrong or right...but, how to deal with a situation in which their deepest fears, insecurities and their desires are leading them into darkness..But more importantly, how to feel and experience their love for each other that they have carried within their hearts both as a whisper and as a scream, both as a drop of tear and as a smile amidst this chaos...

loved your take...
I am hoping cvs to show something new which would surprise all of us...

Beagle, that might be also because the writer's brief is not being understood by both the director and the actor...there is sloppy direction involved in the case of Sumo...they should avoid giving so many monologues to her...it takes away from comprehending her pain looking at her facial expressions...
Also, the extended pp wedding have led to a sort of chaos...

Indrani and beagle wonderful piece what I love about EDKV is that it's been always about Shravan ka Sumo and sumo ki Shravan though there have been lapses here and there unlike certain people who think this is a Shravan vs sumo war it's always been about these two against the world or rather against the famous villain TIME 😳
A third wheel in the form of Ramnath Nirmala or A chomu Aditya plays no role in their love story these third wheels are all just there to spice up an Indian drama that's got to be stretched 😉
Like I always tell my friend this love story is one of the simplest love stories ever seen so far with minimal conflicts and just the right moment is what's missing 😃

I fell for Shravan from the beginning but for me he's always been stuck in the past that teenage Shravan his love is still pure still deep but he's not evolved as a man but the mirror breaking has finally begun that journey of the teenage lover who's been unsure still about his emotions which led to him penning down the question Is this love ? Which ironically without a doubt the three people who came across his letter had no doubts whatsoever regarding his feelings.

Shravan the teenage lover was what he had been uptill now who was the chasmish who was ruthlessly used by a selfish image conscious Suman Tiwari the mirror broke not just the teenage jilted lover but it woke up the Shravan Malhotra who's sure about His feelings his love. He's no longer the one questioning if this is love but he's become a man who's out to lay claim on what rightfully belongs to him alone!!!

Dreamer- I do think that the metamorphosis that we will see. I am convinced that he will fall deeper in love. And it will be a more mature love. Also, isn't there a difference between Sumo and Suman. I think he will now begin to see Suman, not Sumo, and fall in love with her all over again. And there in lies the difference. Passionate as it was, earlier it was sumo and Shravan and now it will be Suman and Shravan. Not sure I'm making sense. They are essentially the same people but perceived differently and there will be a shift in perception. Of course there is also the point that as viewers we tend to over analyze and the solution to all this will be significantly more simple

@dreamer @beagle, your take on the mirror breaking gives a lot of insights. Have always wondered if Shravan loved Sumo or Suman... He is f going to hopefully start to loving Suman soon. How... is what we can't perceive right now.

I have a different take to it..
Shravan was the only one who during his childhood managed to see a Sumo struggling to cut through a Suman...the fighter, the girl who was willing to defend her friend from the barbs of a rash and cutthroat world...
Not her Nanu, not her school friends, not her extended family and not her friend Pushkar...
In fact, Shravan was always the one who realized her potential...that Suman is also a Sumo
And in fact, in the outside world she prefers to be called Sumo...the girl who is willing to meet the challenges of life...head on
The problem with Shravan right now is that this Sumo does not fight for others (read: Shravan), is not the righteous girl he believed in ...but, a girl who loves to take up a fight for the heck of it...she only fights for herself...for her own image, for her ego, and as it feels convenient to her

@indrani- I may have misunderstood- are you saying young Shravan saw sumo in Suman and wanted to bring her out? See, sumo was already sumo when he met her- it was the Sumoness in her that attracted him. That night of the much hyped date, when Sumo became Suman for an instant and helped that family get a table to celebrate their daughters first pay, he was pleasantly taken aback. The young girl who had bullied juniors and wore a carefree attitude also had a heart. It pleased him and warmed him to her. So, after his return from Lindon he saw glimpses of that girl every now and then but never really the whole picture. What she did right now reinforces his opinion that sumo is self centered, but that's because he does not know of the sacrifice Suman made for her cousin. I do think that they took the self respect thing too far. I don't see that as a negative at all. He thinks she is egoistic- but that's a thought planted in his head by his father. This is another instance when Pushkat would need to talk to him, because honestly, I think Pushkar can see the Suman hidden in Sumo. It is this juxtaposition that is essential for Shravan to see for him to proceed.

No beagle...you have not misunderstood me...the Sumo that you are speaking of...was apparent to her school friends. But, i am speaking of a Sumo who knew how to fight...and fight for what was right...
It was he who gave the name Sumo ...
Suman he has also seen when she used to cook for him and when she shared the comic magazine after fighting with him. The SUmo that he has seen is hardly experienced by any of them...
And he came to know more about her during the memory lane trip to her paternal house...
Yesterday, he relieved the Suman who was brash not the Sumo who was a friend...
He was attracted to her brashness initially ...but, please note he actually acknowledged to himself about his love for Sumo...after a year...
He had studied her enough to know that beyond the brash behaviour of Sumo...lies also a Suman and Suman who can be his Sumo

I saw the person who fought for what's right in Sumo and not Suman. I thought Suman was more subdued. But I'm now confused because he breaks up with Suman, but Then does Sumo exist? Because he has always loved Sumo.

So perhaps the answer is that Sumo and Suman are incomplete, one without the other. And it is the juxtaposition of the two contrasting characters that completes Shravan's Sumo. And in her behavior with Aditya and her recent treatment of Shravan, one over powered the other and that is what shone through and lead through Shravan's breaking point.

Now, tell me if the writers would have analyzed this topic THIS much?!
