I must say I am forced to write this because I could't find SleepyPsycho's analysis, so if you find that this analysis is not good, you know whom to blame 😉
Getting to the point, EKDV has always been about parallels. Almost everything that happens in the present is related to the past, as in real life. The sheer innocence of the yonger leads has made us fall in love with Shraman even as adults. But what do we know about them in the 10 years they were away from each other ? Nothing, nada . Today's episode has given us the real plot, the plot which lay buried in the small tracks which were shown so far. They say that there is no good fiction without conflict. So what is the conflict here ?
Nirmala leaves Shravan, Sumo doesn't stand by him in time of need. He is deeply hurt and being a teenager, he lacks the emotional maturity to handle the situation and choses to move away trusting the only person who has stood by him, his father.
Teenage is a very impressionable time and what happens then molds us for the rest of our lives, it affects how we judge and whom we trust. Case in point : Shravan Malhotra . What an exceptional charachterization of a person who has very little trust in others ! Think about it, there are 3 people whom you love dearly, and two of them betray you, you will trust and hold on the only person who stood by you and you will stand by them come what may. But does it mean you will stop loving the other two ? May be we will, but not Shravan. There is a mask of indifference and anger he wears simply to hide his affection for both of them and prove his loyalty to the only person he trusts, but that mask will come off once he knows the truth, although he may never leave his father's side even after that.
Sumo has earned his trust again, he has forgiven her and wants to be with her always, he knows she is not perfect, and she never will be, but thats where Shravan stands tall, he loves her for what she is, not what he wants her to be, but does he trust himself enough ? No. Shravan according to me trusts Sumo more than ne trusts himself and thats what he needs - a leap of faith, a faith strong enough to say, that yes his judgement is right and more importantly a trust in the affection he has for Sumo, that a love so pure, which began in his innocence and which has not dwindled even a bit in ten years can never be wrong.
When they were done with parallels from the past, they decide to bring in a charachter who is the very opposite of what Shravan is. Someone who can make everyone laugh, someone who can't stop talking and someone who wins over everyone's heart in a minute. Shravan left her alone on the dance floor, and he stood by her. Shravan indirectly was reponsible for tearing down the PCT building, he found a place for it. But is this enough for Sumo ? A Sumo whose very name, the very identity "Sumo" is Shravan's creation. What would you do if you were Sumo ? Do we know what happened to Sumo in the ten years ? How many times she would have been taunted for mistakes that were her parents ? How many sleepless nights she would have spent missing the only true friend she had ? A friend so close to her that she took him for granted. Sumo was flawed from the beginning, I accept that. How broken she must have been ? But as she herself says, she fell down but she would get up and run again.
Her self respect is again a mask, the real thing is independance. She doesnt want to depend on anyone line she did on Shravan, she doesn't want to break again and she doesn't want to give others in her family a chance to taunt her again. She loves them but whom does she trust ? Did she trust her family to understand her ? No. There is just one person whom she trusts, beyond everything. Did she sacrifice Shravan for her family ? No way ! Her love is not for sacrifice. Just as she knew he will come to the court for Khosla case, just as she knew that he will never let her fall, she knows that Shravan loves her so much that she is willing to bet on it, that he will come back to her. She will have to let go of her mask though. She has to chose her happiness fully believing that she deserves it and not give in to a feeling of indebtness towards anyone.
"Sometimes we love with nothing more than hope. Sometimes we cry with everything except tears." - Shantaram
Shravan realized what she meant to him when they were together, but Sumo realized it when they were apart. That is the only difference. Shravan will feel highly insecure, specially when he knows that it was Nirmala who raised Adithya, alteast for the last few years.
The conflict will still have to be resolved.
Shravan will stand by his father even after the truth (just my opinion) and because of their differences, Nirmala will leave Shravan again choosing Adithya, but what will Sumo do ? Will she betray him yet again ? Will she choose Adithya too ? I doubt it, despite the promise she made she will not leave Shravan. Staying away from him and betraying him are two different things, thats not what she signed up for. Just as we have seen Shravan stand by Sumo after the accident we will see a Sumo who will stand by him till he is emotionally strong to handle things on his own. The day he is ok, she will leave (yet another parallel) but Shravan will not let her go.
We can debate for hours and pages dicussing who is right and who is wrong but fact remains that Sumo's worst enemy is Sumo herself and Shravan's worst enemy is Shravan himself. But they are each other's strengths. They only have to overcome themselves to prove that they are Ek Duje ke vaaste !
