Because his father has supported him throughout his life. He grew up taking his father's permission in everything. Whatever Ramnath might be, he is not a bad father at all. Today Shravan's upbringing is reflecting Ramnath's parenthood. Definitely, as a son, he did the correct thing. He didn't hide anything from his father. It's always better to tell parents before, this avoids troubles later on. And what Shravan did today, will force Ramnath to say yes.

Because for him his father is important, any ways for marrying he the needs his father's permission, he must have thought why drama then and unnecessaryly sumo will also get mentally tortured for this yes and no and if no...so take permission before, if yes, propose and marry, if no, don't tell her and continue this dosti dosti game forever, she will get married by nannu someday and she will also feel bad but accept it thinking shravan does not love her and it is just one side love...

Coz he values his father a lot. He is the only person he has relied upon all his life. His heart wouldnt have allowed him to begin a new relationship on the basis of lying to his father. Considering he knows the problems between his father and sumo.

And i am SO glad he confessed to his father first. This makes Shravan different and the amazing character he is. Who prioritizes relatonships with a rational mind and heart.
