They shud hv made it a bit clear. That why was she thinking that Shravan wud be waiting fr her / he might also be in love with her... when they did part on a bitter note. N did not maintain any contact whatsoever...
Lol. I think that show's name ",Ek duje ke vaste" is really apt ... lol cz its desitiny which has got these two so good looking and so talented ppl reserved fr each other only n not getting them committed elsewhere
First of all I want to congratulate you on bringing up such an important question! 😊 I have been thinking about asking this here but am not a regular so did not get around to doing it...however, I have been pondering on this since their dinner date...Brace yourself guys, its gonna be a long post...
My observation was that although Shravan was away for 10 years and Sumo had other friends but her special bond with Shravan was always intact...she had that attraction (not physical just yet) towards Shravan which I'm sure Shravan too felt towards her on the lines of "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"...they kept tabs on each other through Friendsbook...they knew what the other looked like, what they were doing, who they were friends with (Sumo had asked Shravan if some girl in one of his pics was his girlfriend, lol! When he said "no" she got all happy! 😆)...
Think about the night she saw him for the first time in 10 yrs. She was in the washroom, smiling to herself and gazing at him while he changed into a new shirt...those looks were not of a friend who has been missing you, she was actually blushing. Just like when she soaked him in water when he was repairing her car...he took off his shirt ( ) and she blushed while being amused by that act...
I think she always 'waited' (as Pushkar found out after talking to Sumo's friend in the reunion party) for Shravan to return to her and be friends with her, but over time as they grew into fine looking adults, she could not resist being attracted to him knowing that they had a special bond all those years ago and probably, somehow she would still be 'entitled' to share a closeness with Shravan, on the lines of intimacy (love! ☺️)...(notice the jealousy/hurt in the Urvashi case where that girl came out of nowhere to stake claim on her 'friend' Shravan)
However, the moment she heard from Shravan's mouth that he did not remember Sumo, everything went downhill in her fantasy world of friendship...had she not heard him say it to Pushkar she would have still behaved in her usual bubbly and outspoken way but since that night she was surrounded by self doubts, doubt about relationships that Shravan might have in London cz of which he doesnt remember her or his hatred towards her for what happened 10 long yrs ago, etc. It was realistic, to be honest. They were not in touch all these years and times had changed but in her life her only constant were Shravan's memories.
So, since the first epi, the audience actually experienced what Sumo was going through in real time😊...her monologues, her memories of adolescence and childhood, her collection of Shravan related stuff and flashbacks, it all hinted at how Sumo thought of Shravan...there wasn't an express confession to herself that she was in love...but it was so cz to begin with, she didnt know if Shravan still wanted to be friends with her. Subconsciously she was attracted to him...Suman's expressions and those of Shravan implied that they had different thoughts about each other until they went to Sumo's childhood home where Shravan saw her in a totally different light. Sumo knew that and even mentioned it to him in that episode. She slowly brought him on the same page regarding friendship.
Okay, so it wasn't a shock or embarrassment to Sumo when Preeta suggested that Shravan would ask her for a kiss as fee for helping with the case!! Had Sumo not known/understood that she was attracted to Shravan, she would have at least reacted with disgust/shock at the thought of it. But what did she do on the night of preeti bhoj? In the kitchen😳😆? On the terrace? She was mentally and physically ready albeit nervous that her 'best friend' would kiss her!! 😳...in her heart, she had moved past friendship status by then but she was underwhelmed/amused at being friend zoned by Shravan cz he was still taking baby steps in renewing his relationship with Sumo...no wonder then when she read THE letter she was devastated! 'What if' reigned supreme in her thoughts and that's when it struck her...what was wishful thinking on her part - "love"- could have been concrete reality had she been wiser in her adolescence...then her monlogue about Shravan, "kab samjhoge ke main tumhe pyaar karti hoon aur tum bhi mujhe chaahte ho!"
Long story short, the sequence of Sumo's emotions regarding Shravan since the last 10 years:
-Missed her friend->kept tabs on him through Pushkar and Friendsbook-> Missed him some more->Both grew older/prettier/more handsome-> Physical attraction-> Waiting to see him->Wondered about him (daydreams, maybe)->In love, sunconsciously...however, Sumo is not a girly girl, she is different...she is Sumo! So, maybe she has a unique way of expressing her emotions, even love towards Shravan!
