Riya, you have a point! But I've always been skeptical about Ramnath. I see loads of manipulative & grey shades to him. During the case fiasco, even though he was reluctant he did ultimately want Shravan to drop the case. But in Preeti Bhoj, he acted as though he was so proud of Shravan taking on the case, like he was the one who encouraged Shravan to do so. Had Suman not solved Varun's problem, would he still have been happy with Shravan? I don't think so. But yes he would have said the same to Tiwari ji. I've always felt that whatever adoration Ramnath has had for Suman has always been because she is Tiwari ji's granddaughter.
But I don't know.. I could be wrong. Let's see how the CVs develop this further. Maybe I am reading too much into it. 😆

manipulative?? umm no
but yea to him his family is the most imp thing and for that he can sacrifice anything,
he is definately a layered character. he made mistakes definately m waiting to find out but nah he cant be that bad.
and ramnath adviced shravan to think about his family but didnot make eye contact and shravan told him he never saw his father talking like this. coz he also knows whats right.
he was the person who was happy that he didnot leave for london and came back and supported tiwaris taking the case
respecting him is respecting his father
to ramnath tiwariji is his guru
anything for him. ramnath ll never say no to tiwari ji

Your analysis of the goodbye scene has made me emotional all over again.😭😆

About the Gogol scene...in my view he was indeed jealous but he himself will never acknowledge it as such and will find some other way to rationalise it, as his feelings for her have been repressed for an entire decade.

As for Ramnath giving credit to Sumo, that was indeed very weird, but I feel it was just included to highlight how Shravan just registered her name, and not Pushkar and Lallaji's.😆 And about Ramnath appreciating her for taking care of Shravan, that made a lot of sense to me since his son had just been through the worst kind of hell in the past few hours, so he couldn't go on without acknowledging it.😆

About jealous Shravan..it is one of my favourite things in the world right now and I want more of it.😆 But...I like it only for it's entertainment value. I don't want Shravan's eventual confession to come forth coz of anger or jealousy. Like you said, it must be a gradual realisation on his part as to what Sumo really means to him and then, and only then should he make a conscious decision to confess to her. Ideally, by then I hope Suman has decided to move on (either coz of direct or indirect rejection from him), just so we can get a wooing track (I have wanted one badly ever since I got hooked to the show).😆

EDIT:

In reference to your comment above about Ramnath being grey..sometimes I get the feeling that he gave his wife an ultimatum that involved cutting off contact with Shravan.😕 I hope I am wrong though coz that would really break Shravan.

Thank you Riya🤗

That goodbye scene was very emotional. I started crying the moment he sat her on the swing. And then the tears wouldn't stop after the way events turned post the goodbye😭😭

Regarding the Goglu scene when it first aired, I thought he was jealous too. But now that I think about it, I see it as more of irritation because she compared him with Goglu & thought he was better.. I felt that it was more of Shravan's little ego playing out there, rather than Shravan being jealous. The jealousy is not there yet because in his head she is just his best friend & Shravan is naive to think that both of them will be able to share the same intimacy if she was to get married to another man. I think the jealousy will come the day Suman truly moves on with a man who is either as good or even better than Shravan, because somewhere both of them take each other for granted & think that they will always be together without any third party. That day he will realise that the bond they share is not just friendship, it is much much more deeper than that.

Ramnath thanking Suman made sense because any father would do that.. but I found it a little weird considering Ramnath's character so far. I definitely think he had something to do with Shravan's mum leaving. Like come on which father would tell his son right at the moment when his mother left that tumhari maa aisi hi thi. Clearly he was instigating his son against his mother.

No doubt, Ramnath is a layered character. I don't think he's plain evil at all. But he's definitely grey. He was happy that Shravan took up the case, but immediately changed his stance when Varun's issue cropped up. He was proud of Shravan when he won the case, not because he won the case, but because of the way Shravan balanced family & work - he won the case for Tiwari ji & also saved Varun's business. Had Suman not given the credit to Shravan & had she not made that move, Ramnath would have been disappointed with Shravan.

Let's see how he reacts when he finds out that his son has been in love with Suman since forever because that would make it very clear how saccha Ramnath is😆

Sammy, brilliant post👏
I shall not go back to what happened the whole week as I have already written a lot about them. You might just feel bored.😆
Just felt like writing on one aspect that was shown yesterday. What do we know of Suman or Shravan? How well do we know them? Is Sumo a child speaking to an adult about her love which unfortunately needs to be proved time and again? Is Shravan an adult who fails to see the brilliance of this child in her eccentric actions? Or is he likewise, also a child..
Why are these tests failing? Are the tests wrong? Or they are not in love with each other? One has moved on while the other is seeing and understanding love through the other's narrative (going back to the letter as proof of his love)...how do we understand them?
My understanding of these two is that they have never grown up.. they have never relinquished their sixteen-year old self. One because they never wanted to as this was the time they felt happiest for life and with life. Second, after this happy period they separated for ten long years and somehow their responses towards love, life and for each other became a verbalization of that time past... in effect, frozen in a time bubble.
Yesterday, when Sumo said about her impending marriage see the way Shravan responds. Totally child-like. How could you do this because you are angry with me? To tackle this how.. what does this Hulk do?Get her fav samosas which she loved during her childhood and make her feel better. NO KATTI... HENCE, NO MARRIAGE. SHE IS ALL MINE. And if this fails. Second solution, her groom shall be selected by me. In effect, I GET TO DECIDE HER LIFE.. WHICH IS MY LIFE. SHE IS MY POSSESSION... SHE IS ALL MINE.
Sumo's child-like behaviour has been delved and talked about in this forum and I shall not discuss further. But there was one more important scene which will tell you how they might respond in the future. Shravan's car was blocking her car.. she couldnt go outside and he couldnt come inside. His car was facing outside while Sumo's inside.
Parked in the opposite directions.. yet both the occupants are required to come together on a plane of mature understanding if their love story is to flourish. To a certain extent, this was shown yesterday. Sumo hopped over to his car while he was the first one to say.. come over.
They need to grow wise, move beyond their past mistakes, their inadequacies in life and break through their child-like defence mechanisms to espouse what is their in their hearts.
Pain is inevitable in their journey right now but a necessary part in their journey towards love and life with each other.
Also, why does our handsome hulk keep the letter safe with him.. I wrote few lines on another post. I shall take those lines and add few lines more as to what is that letter for Shravan Malhotra:

Letter

Kept in that book

Crossword Dictionary

Mine

Not the Library's.

Sheet of paper it was

Torn from a notebook

Dusty and dirty

Scrawled in my handwriting

To her.

Letter

Constructs presence

Of her

Who was not there...

Then

And now (its not so simple)

Morning begins with her voice

Night ends with her hopes

Absence or presence?

Love

A sixteen year old boy's love

Can it be counted?

Acknowledged and recognized?

In years gone by

By

Me

Or her.

A historical object or an artifact

Of

Times gone by

Of a family

My mom and dad

Together

Frame around me

For me

Not outside the door

Was I.

Her

Smile, antics (they were plenty)

Was my life...

Companion was she

I believed to be

For the rest of my life

Read not she

The letter

Transfixed in time

Circumscribed by age

Letter became

Words on a page

Frame broken,

Closed is the door

And a friend no more

Why do I then keep it safe?

Carry it along with me

Everywhere...

Letter

Signifiers

Of my embarrassment

Of me flouting

The bonds of friendship

Of a whisper

Captured in print.

Letter

An image

Of hers

Sustains my life

Her picture, her antics, her fights

Caught and bound

Yet free

Sidenotes added

Everyday

Letter as I read is capturing of a moment .. when he became a man too soon

Can Shravan get hold of the man trying to break free from all the defense mechanisms he has created over the years? He can... but that will emerge through pain...

Very good review👏
Ramnath...can move in any direction but right now for me.. .he is simply a weak man
Preekar.. I cant get it why the makers are giving them so much importance.. is it to posit where these two are going wrong or where these two (Sharman) are doing right. Ah! well time will tell.
I love this journey of retrospection so very unlike, all the chronological love stories that we get to encounter in our teleworld or even in movies.

Nicely penned down .. You have very beautifully articulated many points that crossed my mind but wasn't able express :) ...
I feel EKDV is awesome show wherein we get to debate and interpret the characters and scene with varying sensibilities .. And cvs don't spoon feed us every emotion with exposition and over dramatization ..
This forum is awesome place to read and understand the show to whole another level :)

Wow!! You have analysed the whole weeks' epis in a go.
Loved it.
And I'm loving how the CVs are handling the story.
Don't know why so many people are unhappy with Shravan's behavior.
Whatever he said and did was totally expected.
Right now, we are getting the epis purely from Sumo's POV, and I guess that's why everyone is confused about Shravan and his actions.
Let sumo come out of her bubble first and then we are gonna get to see so much more. And I believe that the precap scene is the perfect catalyst for bursting her bubble.

FIRST OF ALL !
AMAZING POST ! KUDOS.. WORD TO WORD... IT WAS AS IF I WAS ACTUALLY GOING THROUGH THE EPISODE..

I actually like the way they are showing realistic things!
reminds me of the sheer stupidity which i have done in case of my first love!!(it always will be special😆) how.. and

the reactions of sumo are very realistic.. not giving space is actually one of the side affects... you forget everything else...

seriously. i have done my share of idiotic things. i love the realistic angle they are showing in the show.. and the jhatka (much needed one ) will be given on monday.. i am glad that shravan hasnt forgotten that he hates women...

god knows what will happen when shravan's mom arrives..! but i trust cvs...
hoping for the best. and yeah i dont want a confession anytime soon...

and if at all that happens (it has to happen someday but not soonish) then i want sumo to confess and not the other way round...😉😳

@Indrani

DAMN! YOU WRITE SO FREAKING WELL. Most of the time I don't know what more I can say because you say it all & you say it so poetically. Hats off!

That poem was PERFECTION. It captured Shravan's feelings so so well, from what he doesn't introspect on to the way he behaves. That letter inside the crossword puzzle book truly defines Shravan. It defines the innocent young teenager who loved Sumo. It defines the years he lost without her in his life & the man he had to become. It defines adult Shravan's vulnerability which he hides away from the world under the mask of confidence & swag. It defines the 'khoobsurat ehsas' of friendship as Shravan stated, & love that Suman added on in Mon's episode.

I definitely agree that somewhere both of them are still kids frozen in that time bubble of the past.. their interactions no doubt have a childish element to them in the way they fight, or placate each other. But I definitely see Suman as much more of a child than Shravan. I don't doubt Shravan's 'move on' even though he still loves her because if not for Ramnath's intervention, he would have left. Time & time again, I see external circumstances & situations pushing him to her rather than his own heart. I don't see Shravan using friendship as a defence mechanism & if it is the case, it is on a very subconscious level. I feel that he is very settled in the status quo - loving & caring for her as a friend that he doesn't introspect on the way he goes all out at times to protect her. Like I said, I feel that he's holding on to the letter, rather than the contents of the letter which is why I feel that for Shravan to truly realise his feelings, he would need to see Suman move on with another man. And feel that loneliness of her not being in his life now that they have patched up & are best friends like old times. On the other hand, I see Suman using that defence mechanism much more (strange because Shravan was the one who was rejected not her) which I guess comes from the loneliness she faced, so she feels the need to guard her heart all the time. Which is why she is hell bent on making Shravan confess when she knows that she loves Shravan & that he may love her too.

I love the symbolism you caught on about their cars parked in opposite directions & how either of them would not be able to move if one doesn't step forward. I never noticed it. Going by your symbolism, doesn't this mean that these two are headed for different directions? Suman for love & Shravan for friendship? And interestingly like you pointed out Shravan extended his hand first like in the terrace scene (asking her to come over) while Suman took that step to hop onto his car (the promise to never leave him in the terrace scene).. seems like Suman will be the one to confess first & she will do it the moment she sees any hint of Shravan willing to reciprocate?

PreeKar are forced. But there is one thing I noticed - Preeti's chill attitude would be perfect to counter Kamini. Either the makers should change the actress playing Preeti, or add more dimensions to her character. Until they do either of the two, I won't be able to accept PreeKar. PUSHKAR DESERVES BETTER MAN.
And yes, Ramnath is a weak man. No doubt about it. His actions of giving in to the emotional blackmail for the sake of keeping the family together..will be the ultimate catalyst to break the family apart. I won't be surprised if he was the one responsible behind Shravan losing his mother.

Thank you Shilpa🤗
Everyone has different opinions & I think everyone is right in their own way..thus for some people Shravan's stand is very clear, while for others its not as clear. And isn't that the beauty of discussing the show?

@bold : YES! I really hope the precap is the catalyst for her to come out of her bubble & give Shravan & their relationship the much needed time & space. She needs to see Shravan for who he is & has become, rather than constantly hang on to what he was a decade back. I seriously can't wait for the precap to play out!!

THE WAIT IS TOO FREAKING LONG.
