The sprain was gone the minute Sumo gave him news of the plane crash. Look at the scene when she is making him walk to the car. He is not limping specially after he threw up and she is trying to get him into car. He is walking normally and no limp at all. So it was all in the mind and the shock, pain of losing his dad overtook all the the physical pain.
