Dedicated to the Shravan Malhotra I am seeing in this track...

and hopefully, I have nothing more to say on him...

But I was reminded of this song...and watching it, I saw Shravan's free-spiritedness and exuberance and independence in Amir's character here.

Though the situation was slightly different here...

But the basic know-it-all attitude when it came to women...watched DCH years back...so I am not sure if I remember Amir correctlyas an MCP there...

As for the claims that Shravan pined for Suman and poured his heart over that letter for ten years- I don't believe it one bit..😉

The Shravan Malhotra I know is hot and he knows it...he knows exactly what women want...his female friends back at London think he is awesome and HE KNOWS IT...He also loves flaunting it..be it to Sumo...or his friends he met when he missed the first lunch Sumo prepared for him...That MCP guy is still clear in my mind..the one who would say- MARD KO DARD NAHI HOTA...😉..See how they extrapolated that fracture promo in yesterday's episode!👏

And Sumo is not to blame for this..according to her, he used to say this even back then...had been quite clear he would change the wife if she didn't like what he liked...(must have been before the love bug hit him😆)...

...So in a nutshell, this is the song I find best suited for Shraman as I understood them till now.😳 Let us see what today brings.

Edited to add: And that is why Sumo is his best friend and will always remain..Because LOVE...Corrupts?

interesting anaysis but i do not agree with you!
i do not think Shravan is an MCP - being aware of your worth does not make you an MCP. as for sumo, yes i agree he is practical and was not sitting pinning for her 24x7 when in london - he was doing other things like building his career etc... but to say he did not love sumo is wrong! he did love her and still does

hope i didnt annoy u with this post ;)

Not saying he does not love Sumo...Love is not that important to him right now..friendship is..

And if you have watched from the beginning, his MCP behaviour is very clear- right from the first promo- where he scolded his manager for giving important cases to girls to handle...Even yesterday Sumo mentioned the mard ko dard nahi hota...he used to say that...how he settled the divorce case, by sweet talking the woman and then practical points to the man..well, she deserved it...but ther was a certain disrespect..which had come out even in his convo with his friends...I feel this is an important part of Shravan's personalty..one that wouldn't affect his equation with Sumo, because she is above all those type of women...but somewhere I am getting the hint that Shravan i snot ready to be in a serious relationship with anyone as of yet..he would die for Sumo- YES- Thats a different matter.

Interesting to see where they will take this...I do find the dch angle interesting...😳

agree 100%! i understand shravan as i am kind of in the same phase of my life. MCP for me a strong word which i personally hate. i see MCPs as men who dont respect women, treat them as objects etc... that is the reason i do not like calling him an MCP. but yes going by your definition he is an MCP and i am a feminist then.

@chicksoup : So the Sush team is here too? Am really happy to meet you here. 😃

DCH is a cult classic movie and one of my favourites. It's a coming of age movie and Akash and Shalini (Aamir and Zinta) are well written characters. This song reflects the definition of love for both these characters. So while Aakash thinks it's a waste of time and leads to unwanted emotions, Shalini thinks it's the most beautiful feeling in the world.

I couldn't relate the song chosen or the characters to Shravan /Sumo. Shravan has always loved Sumo but has now decided to move slowly, because he doesn't want to get hurt again, while Sumo has realized that Shravan means more than a friend to her.

So, while DCH is about how Aakash realizing that love knows no barriers and has to go down on his knees to beg Shalini in the end, EDKV has a lot more story telling to do. Till today, it's clear that love exists between Shravan /Sumo but there is no third angle. Shravan is no MCP, he is a very loving, educated and decent chap. The story till now has only been about two childhood friends who spent 10 years apart and have still managed to keep the friendship intact. 😃

This song doesn't work for me but I would like to dedicate another song- "Kal rahe na rahe kal...yaad aayenge yeh pal..." By KK.

😆 I agree my branding him an MCP was very loose...to put it mildly, he has some shades of chauvinism in him..😉

Hi Rekha,

Nice meeting U again...
Most of teh people who don't believe in love were not born nthat way..their ex[eriences lead them to believe that...

So Shravan ten years back is not the Shravan I see now..Purely my perspective..He is more jovial..happy-go-lucky, short cut looker...when he laughs behind Sumo's back, I don't see an insensitive friend...just a tease...who sees her as a tomboy...and loves her too...

I am not sure if he knows exactly where his feelings stand..They are very much there where we want them...but he prefers to call it friendship..Why is it so difficult for him to connect it as love..hoping to find some answers in the future..😊

Hi Chick
Interesting post
I might agree with you in few points but we need to get at the bottom, what makes this character Shravan what he is. Shravan does have a distorted vision of women... the way he set up Sumo and humiliated her at the reunion party was all a representation of a man who thinks highly of himself and has an opposite view of women. And then again the way he set up Urvashi. Also, Pushkar did say that there is something wrong in the way he deals with women... he uses his charm, which fortunately or unfortunately, he has plenty.. to raise their hopes and crash them ever so badly. Case in point Sumo and Urvashi both, probably many more at London where he did spend a lot of time.
But, yet this same man is asked by our female protagonist, why would anyone do this to you? How? Anyone? (4th May episode). And he reasons with her as he could have done that he has no problem with Chachi, she was doing it for her sons...
And he really meant it. He appreciates Chachi for one reason... a reason which has scarred him for life. That her reaction, her responses stem from the fact that she is a mother.
His mother who had left him. Rejected him and cast aside. Add to that his Sumo, his friend who he believed in spite of she being so young and far more immature than him, will never leave him and shall always protect him.
And these two incidences happened simultaneously. It must have been very difficult for a sensitive person like him (whose whole life was surrounded among books.. the meaning which he had to decipher himself rather than anyone doing it for him). There were no proper relationships for him after these two incidents. Moreover, his father and other family members never corrected the image he had built up about women during these last ten years.
So, his learning has been faulty. And I guess it didnt help matters that during the last ten years he met women who must have been quite similar to the negative stereotypes he had constructed of women.
Sumo's perception has changed from the overtly biased view that he had learnt and inferred over these last ten years.
However, he finds to difficult to reconcile her image, one which he has gathered recently and somehow matches with what he had previously inferred about her before that school humiliation incident. Why do I say so?
Look closely at the terrace scene when Sumo said I almost thought you had forgotten our friendship, he said he tried to but was not able to. Also, he did say that she was always the instigator of those fights... so I do not think he has forgotten that incident. It pricks him still. And he cant believe that Sumo has two contradictory characteristics to her personality. One who is loving, helpful and protective about her family and the other whose actions stem form being image conscious. He knows where this need of image building comes from but I guess, it hasnt yet been resolved.
Shravan's character demands a lot from his inner circle which typically included Sumo, his mom and dad. And if any one of them fails, this Oxford-returned lawyer tends to behave as an absolute jerk. He has put these three people on a pedestal.. and two of them did fail. One recovered her position (Sumo) but at times the crack surfaces. His teasing her could all be a unconscious reaction to these contradictory signals he gets from her. His father did fail him during the Khosla case and see the way he responded. His mother is a different ball game altogether... I would like to know his mother
Shravan looks down upon women because he does believe that they only value superficiality, yet he also appreciates at times their other qualities. One which might not be apparent even to Sumo whose largeness of heart is the most welcoming quality about her. (eg: Chachi being a mother)
DCH, I thought Aamir's final declaration of his love for Preity's character would more suit our madcap (Sumo) (read my post The Door, the Pen, The Truth)
Lovely post as usual👏

@chicksoup

Just wanted to say I love all your interesting questions that you open for discussion to all the members. Gives us all a chance to think about the smaller details that we would otherwise miss out while watching the show. Thanks a lot for that 👏👏👏
