17. You Will Always Have Me

AU: ShraMan had an arranged married and Shravan learnt that the truth about why his mom left him.
*****

He had closed all the shutters and blinds of the windows, letting no light filter through. The air felt hot and stuffy as she walked in. She could see him crouched against his bed, and for the first time he felt small to her, lifeless, so opposite to his towering, commanding stance she has grown accustomed too.
She quietly closed the door and quickly walked towards him and sat down beside him.
"Shravan?" She asked tentatively, not sure whether he wanted to talk to her or not.
His face was marked with tear tracks and his hair looked unkempt, shabby. He squeezed her hand and laid his head on her shoulder.
"Shravan, I am so sorry." She whispered as his bloodshot eyes took in her face.
She held his hands as she tried to reign in her tears. "I had no idea." She wished desperately for someone to tell her what to do, what she could possibly do to make him feel better, her heart broke seeing him like this. If band-aids could fix these wounds, she would have brought a factory the moment she came to know of it.
"Why didn't you call? I would have caught the next flight in."
"I wanted to be alone for a while."
"I have no one to call my family Sumo." He said after a while, his voice throaty from the lack of use
"That is not true." There was such fierceness in her voice, it made him look up.
"You have me. You will always have me." She whispered as she put her head on his shoulders.
"Now." She said as a matter of fact after some time. "Do you want to watch reruns of F.R.I.E.N.D.S and order Pizza or should I make something?"
"Pizza is fine." He sighed as he placed a small kiss on her forehead.
Ignoring the butterflies that suddenly erupted in her stomach, she stood up and threw the blinds open and was surprised to see it was dark outside. How long were they sitting there? She wondered.
"Get up and have a shower, you stink." She crossed their room and went downstairs to lug her suitcase up. "Are you going to help me with this?" She groaned as she felt the effects of shopping too much.
Shravan cracked a smile for the first time in twenty hours as he watched her trying to carry a suitcase twice her size.
"I always tell you not to shop so much." He said as he helped her carry the monstrosity inside.
"You know I don't listen to you when you speak." She retorted making him chuckle. "Now go take a bath."
Shaking his head, he headed towards the bathroom. He always had her indeed.

Your pieces are so cute!

Writing short pieces is a talent and not everyone can do it. I personally have trouble writing short pieces too. But kudos to you, you manage to pack in beauty and completeness all in one!
