Have been meaning to make this post for quite some time
Finally got down to doing it today...my Dear friend Chicksoup aka Chicks' "Apology" post being the inspiration for the same...
So here goes...
The Journey of Shravan and Sumo thus far...
"The Distance Travelled"
Ten long years had gone by
Woh they 'bachpan ke dost'
Transformed into adults they couldn't recognize
Or maybe didn't even want to!
So much had changed between them
It was after all Baggage
And things only got worse
The present simply added
To the woes of the past!
AND, then something CHANGED
Was it divine intervention
Or just a stroke of fate??
Shravan initiated it
Was under the guise of his calling
Of the righteous kind
But the tour de force behind it
Was obviously something else!π³
The layers had started to peel
The core was exactly where
Shravan and Sumo had left it
Ten years back!
But the bigger question still remained
Were they willing to move ahead
And, NOT 'move on', instead...
How important was CLOSURE
How much did they truly regret??
Sometimes, in life, it is critical to show and tell
But neither Shravan nor Sumo felt the need to 'apologise'
Yet they have Travelled the Distance
And how!
How meaningful was that moment
When Sumo asked Shravan a simple "Tum kyon nahin gaye"?
Shravan could have smartly dodged the answer
He is after all the astute lawyer, Shravan Malhotra!!
But Shravan knew the time had come
To let that guard drop
To acknowledge the regret...
To make amends!
As Shravan "apologized"
With utmost sincerity
Not a sorry uttered...there was no need for it...
Only a HEARTFELT "Mera dimaag kharab hai...Aur tum toh yeh jaanti ho"!!
How uniquely Special...
How uniquely Shravan
An Apology was that!!
πππ
And then,
As Shravan and Sumo
Travelled some more Distance Together...both Literally and Figuratively!
It was Sumo's turn now
As she bared her heart...her soul to Shravan
As she provided him with a glimpse
Of
Her pain...Her sorrow
And,
Her loneliness...
Her companion of those ten long years...
She had been lonely WITHOUT him
She had sorely missed him
She regretted his leaving...
She lamented every moment of it!!
Once again, there was no place for a sorry
No apology required
Her genuiness was enough
Sumo's sincerity had reached Shravan
He was glad he had finally met the real her...
As Shravan cemented it with an equally,
Heartfelt "Thanks"!!
Once again, what a wonderfully sublime apology
Is definitely quite a feat
For a "Thanks" and "Sorry" to be so
Beautifully entwined!
πππ
The next few steps taken
Were in the most unlikeliest of situations
If one was playful
The other was poignancy personified!
Shravan had already thanked Sumo
For letting him in to her world
For letting him see the real her
For letting the wounds heal
For giving themselves another chance!
It was Sumo's turn now
As she wanted to thank Shravan for all his efforts
For standing besides, in her darkest hour...
As expected, she made a complete mess of itπ
But lo and behold...
When the moment of truth arrived
It sure arrived in style!
Sumo Ishtyle!!π
Something had changed between the both of them
Something was clearly different
Shravan seemed to be the soothing balm
His presence comforting
Just like their good old times!
Sumo could just be herself...Shravan had ensured the same...
So, Sumo, with all her EARNESTNESS in tow...
As only Sumo can
Bared her heart once again
As Sumo Thanked Shravan!!
πππ
What a beautifully crafted moment that...so deep...so meaningful
Conveyed so much!
Sumo and Shravan have FINALLY put the past behind them
A huge load off their chests
Their decade old friendship is still at the core
But they value each other so much...
And more!
Closure was always going to be important
There was so much pain AND hurt
Sumo and Shravan have truly come a long way
As they give Themselves another chance
And thereby
Each Other as well...
This changing paradigm of Shravan and Sumo's dynamic
Brought out yet again with such NUANCED effectiveness...
The Sumo of yore shoving Shravan away...
Today's Sumo immediately reacting with an instinctive "I am Sorry!"
The Shravan of yore recoiling on being shoved...
Today's Shravan simply sealing it with
"Main tumhey kabhi harne nahin doonga, Sumo"
BRILLIANT, simply EPIC!
Team EDKV, you can be MIGHTY proud of yourselves
PLEASE take a bow!
πππ
As Shravan and Sumo embark on their new journey
A distance travelled...
Some yet to go...
Would like to sign off with an all time favourite quote (albeit slightly modified to best suit ShraMan)
"You have come a long way and you do not know it. You have some way to go, and you do know what that means..."
