A/N: This two-shot is being expanded to a short-story/mini-series. The title is to be decided.
After a few a few moments of absolute bliss, she tugged at arms that were neatly interlocked at the back of her waist. "Ok bohot snooze kar liya, ab mujhe jaane do..." she said, lazily at first.
He ignored her requests, only nestling himself closer.
"Shravan..." she called out again, a bit more forcefully this time. "Shravan, I really have to go to the a bathroom."
But he just didn't seem to want to budge. "Shravan!" She tugged harder, finally breaking free.
Irritated in the best possible way, his head followed her as she made her way across the frame of the bed and to the bathroom, "Toh fir sone se pehle 500 liter paani peena zaroori hai?" He called out, shoving a pillow over his head.
"Drama queen!" he heard her call back from the washroom.
He couldn't help but smile that signature lopsided I'm-trying-really-hard-to-fight-this-smile wala smile. Well if it was indeed time to wake up, he might as well make the most of it.
Forcing himself out of bed, and yes that meant all 6 feet and 4 inches of him, he trudged to the bathroom reflecting on his wife's whimsical remarks earlier. "I wondered how we'd cuddle." It brought out an involuntary chuckle.
He knocked on the door nonchalantly, "You done?"
"Yeah, j-just give me a minute," She replied rather instantly. Not bothering to think too much of it, he leaned his back against the door, "Sure."
After good few minutes, the door finally opened. She walked out looking just a tad bit disheveled.
Concerned, his hand caught onto her wrist almost on reflex, "You alright?"
She sighed and gathered his shoulders around in her arms, "Mhmm." She began humming some vague melody as she took his face into her hands and raised herself on her tiptoes to meet him with a kiss. She let her lips rest there for a moment, quite enjoying the rather surprised expression on his face, before bringing herself back down.
Now confused, he suspiciously raised his eyebrows, "Aaj bada pyaar aa raha hain?"
She laughed, before tightening her hold around his shoulders, "Sirf aaj?" she asked rather accusingly, "What are you trying to imply Vakeel Sahab?"
"Nothing my lord," he answered resting his head on hers. "Ab chale?"
"Where?"
"Shower, taiyar nahi hona kya?" he said, ineffectively pretending to be nonchalant.
"Shravan..." she glared at him with a smile she was failing to hide.
"Bhaiyya!" They heard from outside.
But before they were interrupted, she called back out into the hallway, "Your bhaiyya's a little busy right now Pushkar!" and left Shravan at a loss for words.
They heard him laugh from the hallway. "Just a reminder, subha ho gayi hai! Ek dusre se fursat mile, toh neeche aa jaana," he said as they heard his footsteps grew fainter and fainter.
"Did you jus--"
"Chale?" she cut him off mid-sentence.
"Aaj ho kya gaya hai tumhe? Anniversary hai issiliye?" he replied, still recovering from his embarrassment, but also mildly entertained with Sumo's newfound unabashed besharmi.
"Mujhe apne pati ko chedne ke liye anniversary ki zaroorat nahi hai," she continued on with her teasing.
"Well if you say so," he said picking her up by surprise and heading for the bathroom. The Oxford graduate decided it was in his best interest to reap the effects of his wife's interesting new mood.
After a day at work that felt just too long to handle, he was finally home, and just about parked. He wouldn't even have gone had it not been for her insistence.
Getting out of the car, he examined with furrowed eyebrows, the sight before him.
It was his driver Hafiz smiling with a poster in his hands reading, "You're Ride, Has Arrived," and an arrow pointing towards Suman's old ambassador parked right in front of the house. He hadn't seen that thing in ages.
Confused he was about to ask Hafiz what was going on, when he handed him a letter.
Anxiously ripping open the envelope, he folded open the letter.
So this is your answer to why in my right mind, especially after the besharmi that ensued this morning, I forced you to go to work (trust me I was in no mood to let you go either).
I know it's just our first anniversary, but we've got a whole lot more history than that. So I decided it would only be fair celebrate our first year as husband & wife by taking a small trip down memory lane, to look back at how far we've come. And so tonight, Vakeel Sahab, you're booked for tour that'll take you back in time to a few of the most memorable pages in our story. Sit back, and enjoy the ride (and don't bother trying to get Hafiz to talk, he's been given strict instructions to not say a single word).
And remember,
I love you.
Happy Anniversary Shravan,
-Sumo
