Chapter 2
" Sis, how's this?, asked preeti as she tried the pink duppata on her drapped in lehenga style, Sis?"
Suman was irritated, preeti had called her at a very wrong time. She was about to read the mail when preeti walked in and pulled her out of her room. Now she was here, preeti was finding the best outfit for her engagement and the other ladies helping her out.
Her mind was locked up in that mail. " If not", what does that mean? What would he write to me? God! She cursed her luck for messing up everything around her.
Preeti called out to her once again and this time Suman paid her heed. She looked at her little sister holding out an orange outfit while a pink duppata is drapped around her. Suman smiled as her sister seemed to enjoy all this.
" Orange " said Suman and smiled.
" you sure Sis? Asked preeti as she removed the drapped pink duppata and kept it aside, orange? "
Suman nodded her head in approval.
" It should be pink", came a voice and the ladies looked at the door to see a charming guy with a contagious smile.
" Shravan " exclaimed Mami as he walked in and said to preeti-" pink is the color, and it will really go along with your prince charming 's outfit ".
Preeti blushed at his statement and decided to go with pink.
Shravan and the ladies sat on the couch and started discussing about the arrangements for Pushkar and preeti 's wedding.
" Don't you worry Mami, when Shravan 's here" assured Shravan as he placed a comforting hand on Mami and smiled.
Shravan could feel Suman's glare on him. He liked this,getting on her nerves. He wanted to irritate her more and so he just did that.
" Suman, can I get a coffee?" asked Shravan with a mischievous grin.
" Yes, yes, why not..Suman will definitely get you a coffee." said chachi and received a pleading glare from Suman.
" come on Suman, soon he is going to be your husband, chachi muttered in her ear, now go and get some coffee for him"
Suman was done. She had had enough of this drama. When did she agree to the marriage that her family had already announced him as her " to be husband ". And, he was being so sweet and caring to everyone. Why can't people see his arrogance and cruelty. Gosh! Are they all blind? She kept cursing him all the while as she made the cup of coffee.
" just one teaspoon ", Suman turned around to find him standing with his hands folded across his chest with a devilish grin plastered on his face. She smirked on his behavior and replied- " you really think that's enough for you?"
Three teaspoon of sugar was already in and just when she was about to add more a strong arm stopped her.
Suman looked at the hand holding her wrist and then at the face which still had the smile.
" I don't need so much sweetness sweetheart when you are there with me, and; he pulled her close to him as she banged on his chest, come on don't give me this attitude Miss.writer. "
" Shravan, don't you ever try to get close to me, and she pulled herself away from him, you and me are not yet married, so don't you use your right over me."
Shravan smirked at her words and leaned in, her face busting out anger and he knew it was just for him. He liked how he had this effect on her. He took her left hand and caressed her fingers. His closeness shut her mind and she was lost. He took out a ring and slid it in the ring finger, "Congratulations Miss.writer, very soon you will be Mrs.Shravan Malhotra " He muttered in her ear.
Suman looked at the ring and then at her fiance.
" I don't believe in it" said Suman as she moved away from him and tried removing it.
" Don't you try and remove this my dear " to be wifey ", said Shravan as he left without uttering another word.
Suman couldn't believe what just happened. The solitaire shinning on her finger did mean she was engaged. But, her mind,her heart and herself needed lots of time to accept it.
My family was just talking about the alliance and now today this guy who said he is disappointed with me 2 months ago, now wants us to get married? Is he really insane or just pretending to be?
Suman walked out of the kitchen and went out holding a tray of mugs with some sweet coffee.
Shravan sipped some coffee and continued talking to the ladies while Suman cursed him.
" I better leave now ladies, we will all be waiting for you all, as he said that he stared at Suman and continued for the roka ceremony. "
" Suman, won't you walk me up to the door?" asked Shravan with an innocent face and Suman smirked.
" of course Shravan " replied Suman and the two walked towards the door.
The ladies smiled at the two and preeti exclaimed - " me and Sis together in the same house even after marriage! Wow!"
Chachi and Mami nodded in agreement and smiled.
As they neared the door, Shravan spoke -" you read the mail yet?"
Suman was not yet happy with how things have turned between them, looking at her solitaire she replied - " not yet...I wanted to but..."
" no need..." Shravan spoke before Suman could complete and his voice more subtle this time.
Suman looked at him with her brows up in confusion. Shravan read her face and replied-" I will tell you when to read...till then just enjoy being my fiance " and smirked at her.
As he left, Suman walked in and ran to her room. After what he said about not reading it, she had to. Who is he to tell me what to do and what not? She opened her laptop and as she sat to read what the mail was about she was disturbed again. This time it was her mobile, and the caller was her new fiance and to be husband. She was hesitant to answer the call but if she didn't, she knew he would irritate her more. So, she answered the call and as she muttered-" what? " in a loud voice, came a Stern reply from the other side-" I know Miss.writer, you don't like listening to me..so, don't you dare read that mail...coz if you do..you will fall in love with me.."
His words shocked her..she didn't know how to react. The call was disconnected and she felt numb.
I don't want to fall in love with him...I don't want to love him...she muttered those words to herself and transferred the mail to trash.
