Chhavi Pandey: TV actors do not have the right to be choosy about roles :
TV actor Chhavi Pandey, who has worked in a couple of daily soaps including 'Ek Boond Ishq', believes that TV actors, irrespective of the amount of talent they have, do not have the right to be choosy about roles. In town recently to promote her upcoming show 'Silsila Pyar Ka', Chhavi spoke to us about her role in the show and why she couldn't go around the city for sight-seeing.
"There is not much scope for television actors to choose roles of their choice. It's the other way around - roles choose them. This privilege is limited only for Bollywood actors, who have the right to select roles and can afford to say no to what they don't like," she said. The actress, who was on her maiden trip to the Pink City, regretted not having had time to explore the city. "I really wanted to take a tour of Jaipur, which is famous for so many things. But, due to time constraints, I couldn't go anywhere," the actress said.
All set for her new show, Chhavi said, "I am playing a young girl, Kajal from a middle-class family who believes in sharing and caring and at the same time, stands for what she thinks is right. She is an independent and freedom-loving person who believes that a relationship should be the pillar of strength and not the reason for insecurity."
Having made her debut on TV with a reality talent show as a singer, Chhavi is also a trained classical singer and kathak dancer. "Music is in our blood. My father runs a music school and he is the one who taught me the basics of singing. I have always dreamed of becoming a singer, but perhaps, destiny had something else in store, and I got into acting," Chhavi said.
"My first acting project was a short film, 'Teri Meri Love Story', after which I got other offers. But singing has always been my passion and I would love to take it forward, as and when I get the chance," she said.
