There are so many flaws in Kalaati's plan that it's extremely out of character for her.
The initial plan; killing off one family member to gain sympathy votes and boost rating is genius.
But all her subsequent actions speak differently.
First: Why have Fahim Chacha pick up the gun and deliver it to the assassin? What was the need for getting him involved at all? The assassin could have picked up the gun himself in the disguise of the Baba, or the gun supplier could have had the gun delivered be someone else. Or even Kalavati/Rudra Pratap could have found someone from his/her entourage of eunuchs or political party juniors to carry the package from one location to the other.
There was no need for Fahim Chacha to be involved in any of this other than the convenience of him being able to recognize the assassin and making Kalavati sweat.
Second: Why have the gun planted in Tara bag? Why was there a need for that at all? The assassin was using a sniper rifle to shoot at Baba and they planted a small handgun in Tara's bag! Anyone (especially a cop) with half a brain would be able to tell the difference between the bullets of a rifle and that of a handgun.
All Kalavati did with that stunt was put one of her henchmen in danger of exposure.
Third: Attempting to kill off Mrityunjay. What is the need??? The point was to gain sympathy votes by making it look like he and his family was in danger. That has been done! There were shots fired upon his family and that is enough to clearly make it appear like his family is in danger. Now, instead of focusing her efforts on tying up loose ends, like making sure the assassin stays out of sight and irradiating any clues that might point his way, he is playing dress-up and trying to unnecessarily finish off Mrityunjay.
Plus now, she's put herself more into a pickle because this attempt to Tara's life is going to remind Mrityunjay of all the other attempts to Tara's life and now he will probably want to find out who wants her dead and why.
Usually Kalavati is smart and resourceful with her schemes and plans but this one just seems to be an exercise in futility. Come on CVs, her character is supposed to be smarter than that! Where is the creepy Kalavari with her sharp mind?
