Though many in the forum have been trying to analyse why Mrityunjay and Tara are so mean to each other while thinking of each other as husband and wife, I guess I know the reason!
Consider this from their POV.
Tara knows Mrityunjay as a brutal criminal. She has made judgements, decided already what she can expect from him, which is lack of humanity and zero respect for women. When she declared to Meethi that she isn't a bit interested in knowing what he looks like it stated that her mind has set up its limits and it will not let her heart venture out to explore anything beyond this. This limit, for that matter is not set for anyone other than Mrityunjay! She feels sympathetic to the unknown saviour but I am not very sure if the sympathy would have been so much unrestrained if it would have been the guy whom she knows to be her husband
And then we have Mrityunjay with his set of judgements. He has already decided that Tara is a money-minded girl whose mere presence will hamper hi promise to Nirmala. He restrains from seeing her face as his mind has already decided that he will never bestow her the rights of a wife. He restricts himself from even thinking about being attracted to "his wife", which he apparently should be doing.
While his interactions with The Wall Scribbler cum Damsel in Distress has no such limitation. His mind does not limit his eyes to see her, his heart from sympathising with her and his hands from saving her.
Hence even though connected by the marital bond, there is no way Mriara are even going to try to connect to each other, unless they meet up as strangers and show each other the kind of people they actually are and then get to know their identities which will break each other's myths about each other...
