^^ I don't mind if they show a few family scenes with Rukmini, you know? Yes, the major story that is left centering her is Pradhyumna's birth, but they might not want a new actress to play Rukmini because her role in the show would be very short. So maybe they'll just use a body double like you said...or make Pradhyumna born to Jambavathi.
Out of all the actresses so far playing Krishna's wives, I like Jambavathi the best. She has a certain grace and dignity in the way she speaks and walks.👏 She also looks best with Vishal more than Priya and whoever is playing Satyabhama (is her name Urvashi?).
They could just use the Jambavathi actress for Rukmini and find someone else for Jambavathi.😆
If they are going to get a new actress anyway, why change Jambavati? Doesn't make sense. It still would be barely tolerable, but if they have Jambavati or Satyabhama giving birth to Pradhyumna, it would be a complete outrage. As Vik pointed out some weeks ago, it would be like substituting Draupadi for Subhadra as mother of Abhimanyu, or substituting Bhima for Arjun as the person whose chariot Krishna drives, and who has the Gita delivered.
Since they have deleted Rukmini's role in the few major arenas that she plays as Krishna's wife, it's meaningless to now have her in family scenes. Just do a body double and a bare minimal coverage for Pradhyumna, where no acting skills are needed (in fact, for Rukmini's role, not much acting skills are really needed, but Priya showed how to botch such a simple character)
I agree w/ Tina - the Sagars selected minor actresses for JS roles thinking that their roles would be limited, but for whatever reason, Priya disappeared and they had to do the heavy lifting. Had it been true to script, I'd have been okay w/ Jambavati's performance, and less so w/ Satyabhama's. I don't blame the 2 actresses so much as I blame Sagar Pictures (not Sagar Arts) for screwing this one up so badly.
I don't think they have a major spotlight on them - for a mytho, DBSK has extremely mediocre TRPs - when compared w/ JSK or ASR. Sagar Pictures deserves the blame for this for starting the serial firstly @ a strange point, and on top of that, distorting Krishna's character so badly that it turned off viewers. The first impression seemed to be the last impression, and the mediocre choice of dialogs, costumes and scripts all contributed to the abysmal ratings of this serial. Even Mahima Shani Dev Ki, which is about far lesser known events and some downright fiction, tops Imagine's charts. There is no reason DBSK shouldn't have.
