August 28th, 2015 - Calm before the Confession
Today felt like a conclusion! Compared to yesterday, it was alright - but in a way I am glad we got a break from the emotional intensity that was yesterday, and the epic-ness that is to come tomorrow. I loved the first and last minutes of today the most! There were a lot of meaningful dialogues (particularly between Radhika and Dada-ji), but I am too tired and all raccoon-eyed so my thoughts won't be in depth.
1. I loved the desperation in Arjun's voice when he didn't find Radhika beside him. I was pleasantly surprised they showed us that she had in fact heard him calling her name, but I think she knew that if she stayed, her resolve would break and she couldn't afford to do that.
2. The letter where Radhika tells Arjun how she only wants him and Sam to be happy. The key part of it all was the emotional plea where she genuinely requests him to return back all of Sam's happiness. This was a test for Arjun - because Radhika simply wrote if she ever had even the smallest space in his heart, just grant her this wish. Talk about being stuck in a rock and hard place. The rest of it all I won't repeat because most of it is was explained in my post from yesterday, the whole "himmat & haisyat" stuff. It's amazing how both Arjun & Radhika think neither are worthy of one another. I loved the tears mixed with anger as he read that letter.
3. Then as he rushes out the door, he finds a distraught Sam come to meet him, leaving him a bit taken aback. The story then fast forwards to a "few days ahead". This is the fill in blanks moment, which I did ... I am not sure if they will reveal all of it tomorrow (I doubt it). But here is what I understood... As soon as Arjun saw Sam standing at his doorstep, Radhika's words stopped him dead in his tracks. He knew if he was ever going to win back her love, he had to do the right thing, and that was to come clean with Sam about everything. So he told her everything about Nandu etc and how he never loved her, how Radhika sacrificed everything for the sake of her friendship and how she left him / them with a short goodbye letter. A lot of people wanted to see this play out - but honestly I am glad they didn't show it because there is only so much we can see due to time constraint and I don't want to waste an episode on re-hashing stuff we already know about.
4. My take on Ne-Sam is she let go of her friend so she can find her love in Neil. Hence Sam's dialogues yesterday were so full of double meaning. The only thing I am unsure of is whether NeSam got married or they are about to be married. The reason I am unsure is because there could be 2 excuses (not reason) why they decide to visit Radhika in Rishikesh. Either to invite her to Sam's wedding or for Arjun to ask her to be his wife (in the true sense). I think NeSam is engaged to be married soon, which is why she was at her parents house.
5. Why they showed Arjun & Sam? Because they are the reason for Radhika's sacrifice. Arjun completed Radhika's plea to him - he returned that smile on Sam's face by setting things right with her. Now, it is Sam's turn to complete the other part of Radhika's farewell promise: to bring happiness in Arjun's life, which in essence as she has realized will also bring happiness back in Radz's life.
6. I think Dada-ji and Sam have cooked up something to figure out what is in Radhika's heart & mind. Hence all of the conversation between Radhika and dada-ji were about Arjun - he tried all sorts of psychology on her to get her to confess what was in her heart. And I think Sam is privy to this too - which is why she is taking Arjun with her to Rishikesh. Though I think the latter thinks it is only so they can ask Radhika's forgiveness, which he still doesn't deem himself to be worthy of, and maybe to give him some hope that she doesn't completely hate him. I knew the day Arjun will be in love for real, he would have the hardest time telling Radhika about it simply because he can deal with anything except her rejection - he is scared $hit of knowing that maybe she doesn't love him back in that sense. It's been so easy for him to say those words to people when he had not meant it - but when it is from his heart, he is genuinely afraid.
7. Who liked the fact that dada-ji also ordered JALEBI for "their" arrival!!!! I wonder if Mala is in on this little ploy by Sam & Dada-ji. HAhaa ... that was the biggest hint for me. It's so obvious, heck even the flashbacks gave away everything. Anyway, in other obvious things, Radz still wearing her sindoor and mangalsutr, and Arjun his wedding ring. I don't think he has signed the divorce papers. I loved how lost and incomplete they both were without each other. Arjun was like the walking dead, and Radhika was experiencing heartbreak for the first time.
8. Today Sam was the voice of reason and she needed to be one. Technically Arjun & Radhika's journey together started because of Sam, and their separation was also because of her. Hence, she needed to be the one to reunite our lovers! Sam let go of all that hurt, anger and betrayal, realizing the true meaning of friendship and sacrifice. That is why she needs to make things right for the one friend who gave up all her dreams and her love just for the sake of friendship. Time heals all wounds, and that happened in Sam's case.
9. As for Arjun being made the partner at BS, it is probably because that was in the works already (remember Piyali had the papers prepared), and probably because he came clean regarding everything with the Khannas. The "few days" leap showed he has proved his worth, even if Neil doesn't completely trust him :P , that was a joke btw (with pun intended).
10. The Pre-CAPS - holy moly ... I am speechless. And yes I have watched it many times online since I first saw it. I don't want to discuss it because I like to talk about the episode as a whole, so I'll save those thoughts for tomorrow J
Alright everyone, it's been a great journey of sharing my thoughts with you all, be it a short one. Please know that if unknowingly I offended anyone, I apologize - it was never my intent. Further, I only discussed the show, all characters, the story and plot, from the perspective of fiction only - everything that I mention in my posts regarding societal stigmas etc is not my personal view just how it was relevant to the story itself. Further when I talked about beauty of characters etc, I honestly meant characters and not actors - because to me all the actors portraying their respective roles are beautiful! I think sometimes things can be misconstrued in text - and people can take it personally so please take it in the context of fiction only.
Until tomorrow ... sigh!
