Prologue

Kavya threaded her fingers with me and pressed it gently. It was one hell of a task to convince me to go and live with her before we start our collage. She was still convincing me to move in with her but I was adamant. I cannot let go of my pride. She is a friend, the best friend I could ever have, the one and only person who never treated me as a charity case. She knew I was almost a broke and was about to become a penniless once my mother's fixed deposit exhausts in few months. I was lucky enough to get scholarship for my good grades that I have earned studying day and night. I even forgot to each sometimes, well that was due to the lack of money though. But Kavya was the one who make sure I was fed properly. She knew I had pride so she placed it as if she cooked excess food and she knew I was the one who would never ever waste food. I knew her tactics very well. She purposely made more food so that I could eat and not refuse. I let her because I fell in love with this girl the moment she stood up for me against the whole rowdy bunch of boys who never left a single opportunity to bully me.

Her father was some top shot, the owner of some popular news channel. She showed me his picture once. He was quite a guy, very handsome and the way he looked at her melted my heart. He seemed to be very young. Probably Kavya came in her parent's life pretty early. I wanted to ask his age since he looked more like her brother than her father. Then she told his story one day. How her mother left the newborn Kavya with her father who was not more than fifteen years. It was a case of condom leakage. Her mother wanted to abort her, but he didn't allow that. Kavya's mother was of same age of her father and she refused to compromise her life for an ill-timed child. So she left her with her father and never came back into their life. Kavya was so proud of her father that she never missed her mother. She never mentioned her after that little secret that she happened to spill. I also came to know that her parents were never married and that her father is still single.

"Don't think Radz. Dad is amazing you know that. He will treat you good, trust me".

I gave her a small smile. I have no clue how dads are. My own dad disowned me when my mother conceived me. Probably that's why Kavya and me are best of friends because somehow we can relate to our childhood. The only difference is she has a loving dad as her family and I have none.

"He might come across a little strict, but he is a darling and I know all his buttons. So don't worry", Kavz chirped.

"You should have atleast told him about me Kavz. I don't think any dad would appreciate if her daughter gets someone into the house without his knowledge".

"Radz, dad is going to love you as much as he loves me take it from me".

I sighed. What can I do? It is impossible for me to convince her once she is determined. I don't want Mr. Sharma's pity I wanted to tell Kavz. But since she was so excited I kept my mouth shut.

But that didn't shut my mind. What would he think of me. Kavya's Dad is rich and I am a broke. He is bound to think that I am some kind of a parasite. That's how the world acts now days.

I looked out of the window to enjoy the scenery. I would have never made it to this part of the city if it weren't Kavya who sponsored my trip. I have agreed to take her money only when she agreed to take the money once I get a job. I had to come here for my college so I had so compromise on my pride just a little.

I saw the car approach a big black gate. Kavya rolled down her window and scanned her eye. Wow that's quite a thing. The car took off uphill between the large trees until I could see a two-stored bungalow fully cladded in white. It was ridiculously beautiful, not very huge but a perfect house for a couple and two kids to grow up. I was aw stuck. I was so into it that I didn't realize when Kavya sprinted out of the car and ran towards the house entrance almost jumping out of the moving car. The only word I heard was "daddy" and then she was gone.

I looked out of the window and saw her leaping into a man's arms. His arms rounded her waist and he twirled her making her squeal in joy.

"Daddy put me down, I am a big girl now" I could feel the happiness in her voice. It proved how much she missed her father. Her love for him was immense.

"You will always be my sweet pea", he chuckled and kissed her soundly on her cheeks.

I got down from the car and nervously stood glued to the car. Sensing my movements he peeled his eyes from his daughter and that's when his dark brown eyes clashed my nervous ones.

The air whooshed out of my lungs when Kavya moved a little giving me the full view of her father. He was sinfully handsome in his black suit and tie. His hair jet black and gelled. He looked like prince no less. I have ever seen a man so beautiful. He looks much younger than the pictures that Kavya has shown. He probably did regular workout because though he was wearing a suit he seemed pretty broad and muscular.

He frowned at me then looked at Kavya.

"Oh I am so sorry dad", Kavya ran towards me and held my hand. She pulled me towards him before I could protest.

"This is Radz...erm... Radhika...my bestest friend", Kavya said tugging me sideways. "Radz this is the world's best dad", she kissed him on his clean-shaven cheeks.

I extended my hand for him to take it. He looked at my clumsy hand and then advanced his to hold mine.

Good Lord, his hand was firm and strong. And something happened inside me. The feeling was alien. I looked at out joined hands and shivered. Then our eyes clashed yet again. No one spoke a single work. His eyes scanned my face for few seconds and then he said "Hi Radhika" and I was dead hearing his husky voice.

But story is very promising so no issues i will digest her lol
