A cameo with Isha Koppikar in Inteqam: The perfect game, to a participant in the Mr India contest, Kshitij in Kkusum and Ansh of Kyunki... , Amit Sarin has come a long way. Having battled for seven rough years to attain the star status, the journey hasn't been a perfect one. "I did have to struggle a lot. I used to spend days calculating money to decide on my meals. The real breakthrough came with Kkusum . And then my family members started persuading me to come back and join the family business." So what was it that didn't let him loose track of his destination? "I think persistence in following my dreams," reveals Amit. After playing significant characters in a variety of soaps, what challenges the actor now? "The character should be close to people's heart. Although I have an ideal son and lover image, I would like to play a character that is 'rightfully grey', a person who has turned negative due to circumstances but has his values intact." With the kind of strong reaction, Amit received over his screen portrayal of Chaitanya, the actor feels truly humbled. "Honestly I didn't expect it to be like this. It feels very proud. The influx of fan mails that I have received on my website has been the biggest surprise. And better still, the website was a birthday gift by my wife, Vineesha," says Amit. Having been a trained dancer for five years, Amit is enticed by the idea of participating in a dance reality show. "I feel reality shows are the best thing that is happening to television today. But personally, I am too shy a person to shed much of myself to the camera." Apart from being a full-on movie buff, the revered television actor loves to spend time in the company of friends and family. "I give a lot of importance to values. Living without friends or family is simply unthinkable for me." A firm believer in 'crossing the bridge when it comes,' Amit is waiting for Bollywood to happen now. "If I am lucky enough, I'll definitely leave a mark," he signs off. |
