Aroona Irani's long-in-the-making Doli Saja Ke will finally go on air (after excessive problems) on SaharaOne from May 7.
However, there is yet another problem.
The new show's hoardings across the city bear the pictures of Anuj Saxena and female lead Barkha Bisht, despite the fact that Saxena is no longer a part of the show!
No man in sight
When the drama went on floors last year (as reported in 'Aroona readies her doli', HiTLIST, November 10, 2006), Saxena was very much a part of the cast.
However, he later opted out of the show ('Another jolt to Irani's doli', HiTLIST, March 30), long before its telecast schedule was finalised. But Saxena is now surprised to see his face prominently on all the hoardings.
Says Anuj, "I left primarily due to inordinate delays in its making. I was busy with my production house (Maverick) and Elder Pharma commitments, so it was better to part ways before the show went on air."
After his exit, model-actor Jas Arora was roped in as a replacement. But after a look test, it is learnt that that he had reservations about his bespectacled styling and opted out.
Earlier, when Saxena had voiced his desire to quit, actor Anoop Soni had also been under consideration for the role. Last heard, Akshay Anand was being touted as the replacement.
Still the one
At a media meet held in the city on Wednesday, Irani, however, duly maintains that Anuj Saxena is still part of her show and she was still in talks with him!
It is learnt that till a replacement is found, whatever bits were shot with Saxena will be stretched across the initial episodes.
Doli Saja Ke narrates the saga of Anupama (Barkha Bisht), whose birth coincides with the death of her mother.
Anupama grows up with the kalank of being a manhoos, as best said in telly parlance. The cast includes Jaya Mathur, Amit Sareen and Surbhi Tiwari, among others.
