Raghu slowly takes his hand away from my spot. I feel a chill run down my spine. It was as if his hand had been providing warmth to me.
"We should go. The performances are going to start in a bit," he says while stepping away from me. "Yeah sure."
We walk together to the crowd of people. Aditi's wedding was a big affair. Almost every one of our cousins was here and I could swear that she had invited our entire high school.
"Antara, you cannot believe how excited I am to see you and Raghu perform together," Aditi says, coming up to me. I smile and slowly look towards my right, where Raghu is standing. He's talking to someone. I think Aditi was talking to me but I completely ignored her, all of my attention on Raghu, and Raghu only.
"Do dil mil rahe hai, magar chupke chupke."
My head snaps back after hearing her sing that. "It's true," she says. "Nooo, come on. You know that we're just friends," I reply. "Yup. Friends. Just friends." I roll my eyes and we walk to her parents together as the ceremony was about to begin.
When it was our turn to dance, I looked across from me and saw Raghu winking at me. I felt my face flush and looked away.
As soon as the song started, my eyes searched for Raghu and they never moved from him once. Never.
The song stopped but it was as if the entire world had stopped as well. Our gazes locked and we just stood there, not caring what went on in the world around us.
"Wow guys! You were amazing!" Aditi says, coming to stand next to me. Raghu gives me a slight smile and someone calls him. But my eyes don't want to leave him. Not now... Not ever.
"Oye! Antara! He's gone now." I sigh. Maybe Aditi and Krrish were right. Maybe there was something more than friendship between us. But what was it then?

The marriage the next day was quite a busy and eventful. After the marriage, we Raghu and I had to leave as we had to get back in time. We had come in separate cars because I had come before him, but now it was just my luck that it has decided to break down. So I wasn't really left with any other choice than to go with Raghu. He had even offered to drop me off every day for the next week because my car wouldn't be back until then.
"Thanks for everything," I tell him as the car comes to a stop outside my apartment building. "No problem," he replies with a smile. Just as I am about to get out, Raghu calls me back. "Hey, uh, you wanna go out somewhere tonight?"
I look back. "Sure why not? But where exactly would this somewhere be?" I ask. "Well do you want to go out for dinner somewhere or do you want to do something else? It's 7 in the evening."
"Umm well I would love to go out. How about we go... Wait, what's that new place that opened up?" I ask. "That new Italian restaurant?" "Yeah that one! Let's go there," I say and sit back. "Sure," he says, starting the car.

"A table for two?" the waitress asks as we enter the restaurant. "Yes please," Raghu replies. "Right this way," she says, leading us to our table. She sets our menu on the table and takes our drink orders.
"So how did you find the wedding?" I ask as we wait for her to come back. "It was nice. I haven't been to one in quite a few years," he replies. Just as I was about to ask him something else, the waitress had come back and this time left with our orders for dinner.
"Raghu I want to ask you something," I blurt out the second our waitress leaves. "Sure. Go ahead," he replies, looking up from his menu, smiling. I take a deep breath and say, "I want to know what that silver thing is. I've seen it at least two times now, but I've never been able to see the entire thing. I really want to know what it is."
His face turned to stone but he wouldn't say anything to me. "Raghu?" I say, uncertain as to what I should expect now.
"Antara, it's nothing that you have to worry about. Really."
"But I want to know."
"Antara, it's..."
"It's?"
Before he could say anything else, the waitress arrives once again. God, I swear she kept coming back to talk specifically to Raghu.
Once she leaves, again, I ask him again, determined to get an answer this time.
"Antara, honestly, have you always been this curious?" I recognise his attempt at changing the subject and reply, "Yes I have. Now stop trying to change the subject and just answer the question."
"Fine, it's a harmonica. I like to play music. Happy now?" he says, while leaning back against the chair. For some odd reason, I didn't believe it but I didn't let that show. I was sure it was something else otherwise he wouldn't have tried so hard to spin the conversation around.
The rest of the evening passed by without any event, a peaceful one. The next day, life started to pick up its normal routine once again and I lost myself amid the various assignments and spending more and more time with Raghu. We grew closer and closer with each passing day, and I was starting to question my feelings for him more often.
***
A couple of days later, Raghu invited me to his house for dinner with his family. I hadn't seen his family in a long time and it would be nice to meet them again. Thankfully, my car was back now and I would be able to drive myself there.
I was warmly welcomed into the Naik house, especially by a bubbly Anjali. "BG," she shouted when she saw me at the door. She ran to give me a hug and I returned it with just as much enthusiasm.
I was entertained by Anjali and her latest collection of dolls while Aunty was in the kitchen, warming dinner. I looked around, wondering where Raghu was. I hadn't seen him since I'd come here.
"Bhaiya!" Anjali exclaimed as Raghu unlocked the door and walked in. "Hey baby girl," he said, giving her a hug. He smiles at me and I said, "Hey."
"Hey."
"Bhaiya, why don't you sing BG the song that you were singing last night?" Anjali asked.
I could feel my mouth drop open. "You can sing?" I asked, rather quickly. "Uh, yeah. But I don't do it too often," he replies, looking kind of embarrassed.
"Well, I want to hear the song," I tell him, a smile forming on my face. "Are you serious?" he asked. "Yeah."
He sighed and picked up the guitar that was on a stand next to the fireplace in the room we were sitting in. He starts strumming slowly and begins to sing.
Across the ocean, across the sea,
Starting to forget the way you look at me now
Over the mountains, across the sky,
Need to see your face, I need to look in your eyes
His voice, it was so beautiful, so serene. I just let myself get carried away by his voice.
Through the storm and through the clouds
Bumps on the road and upside down now
I know it's hard, babe, to sleep at night
Don't you worry
'cause everything's gonna be alright, ai-ai-ai-aight
Be alright, ai-ai-ai-aight
Through the sorrow, and the fights,
Don't you worry
'cause everything's gonna be alright, ai-ai-ai-aight
Be alright, ai-ai-ai-aight
"Why did you stop?" I asked, as I snap out of my daze. His voice was magical, just perfect.
"I... uh, I haven't really written any more of it," he replied, running his hand through his hair.
"You, you really wrote that?" I asked, surprised.
No wonder it seemed so unfamiliar.
"Yeah, I did. I think Mom's done setting the table and everything. We should probably go."
He stands up instantly, putting the guitar away, and heads in the direction of the kitchen.
"BG," Anjali whispered.
"What happened?" I asked, bending down next to her.
"Bhaiya lied to you. Yesterday he sang the whole thing to me."
A/N: I just came down with a really bad fever and cough today so I didn't really proofread this. Hope there aren't too many mistakes! Hope you all liked the update! Do leave your likes and comments! And if you don't know the song that Raghu sang, it was 'Be Alright' by Justin Bieber. 😊
