Chapter 28

I got up when I felt a light ray hitting my eyes. I looked around and saw that I was in my room. How was that possible? I was on the terrace with Raghu. I felt something beside me on the pillow, it was a red rose. I moved my hand to pick it up and noticed that I was holding someone's hand. I looked beyond the hand and saw that Raghu was sitting on the floor and sleeping with his head on the bed. He looked so innocent. I leaned forward and whispered in his ear, "Raghu." He stirred and slowly opened his eyes. He looked at me with his sleepy eyes and had a small smile on his face.

"Raghu," I heard Antara say. I slowly opened my eyes to find Antara in front of me. Thinking it was a dream, I said, "Miss Kaul, tu phir sapne mein aa gayi?" She laughed. She looked like an angel. "Filhal yeh sapna nahi, haqeeqat hain, chalo utho," she said. Wait, this wasn't a dream. I quickly sat up and noticed that I was in Antara's room. I realized that I had fallen asleep in her room. "Toh main tumare sapno mein bhi aati hoon?" she asked. "Huh? Woh..." I stuttered. "Bolo na, tume mere sapne bhi aate hain?" she asked again, resting her cheek on her hand. I leaned closer and said, "Mujhe toh kisi pari ke sapne aate hain, jiski shakal bilkul tujhse milti hain." "Toh main pari hoon?" she asked. I nodded my head and leaned closer to give her a kiss on her cheek until Antara's phone rang. "Yeh phone hamesha galat time pe kyun bajta hain?" I said, irritated. I let go of Antara's hand and got up. "Phone ko toh baad mein dekh longi," she said. "Nahi, who, tu tayaar ho ja, tujhe jaana hain na," I said. "Haan," she said. I walked towards the door when Antara said, "Waise, ek baat toh main tumse khena bhul hi gayi." "Kya?" I asked. "Yehi, ki I love you," she said. I smiled and said "Miss. Kaul, tujh mein itni himmat kabse aa gayi? Phele toh nahi hoti thi." "Phele aur ab mein bahut farak hain," she replied. "Saach? Mujhe toh koi farak nahi dikhai dera hain," I said."Woh... Raghu, aunty," she said and I turned around. There was no one there. I turned back and saw her laughing. "Miss. Kaul, tu na," I said, walking towards her. She threw her pillow at me and I grabbed another one and threw it at her. She stood up on the bed and so did, there wasn't much room left on the bed. Pretty soon her foot slipped and she yelled, "Raghu," as she fell on top of me. We were both breathing hard as we looked at each other. Realizing the situation we were in, we both started laughing. "Miss. Kaul, jitni halki tu dikhti hain na, utni ho nahi," I said. "Tum mujhe moti bula re ho? How mean," she said and hit me. "Acha ab uth," I said and we both got up. "Meri room ki kya halat kar di hain tumne," she said. "Maine?" I asked. "Haan, tumare wajese hi yeh halat hui hain, nahi toh mera kamra kabhi bhi itna gaanda nahi hota hain," she replied. "Acha theek hain, saaf kar deta hoon," I said. "Nahi, nahi, tum rehne do. Tumara kya paata, saafi ki jaage aur gand phela do ge. It's ok, tum jao, main khud hi kar longi," she said. "Theek hain. Jaldi se saafi karke aur tayaar hoke neeche aa ja," I said and left the room.

After Raghu left, I looked at my phone and saw that I had so many missed calls from mom, Piya and Payal Di. Oops. I quickly called them back while cleaning up the room and was given a whole bunch of birthday wishes and blessings. It felt really good. I quickly got ready. Today I decided to wear the salwar kameez my mom had given me when I had left Kashmir. It was an early birthday present. I wore matching bangles and earrings and headed downstairs.

I was sitting at the table waiting for Antara when I heard her coming downstairs. I turned around and saw her. She wasn't wearing her normal clothes, instead she was wearing a white salwar suit, similar to the one that I had first seen her in. "Arre Antara beta, yahan aao," mom said. "Good morning aunty," she said. "Good morning beta. Happy birthday," mom said and gave her a hug. "Thank you so much," she said. I was so lost in Antara that I didn't even notice my dad coming up behind me. "Main jaanta hoon ki woh bahut pyaari lag ri hain, par usse aise ghoorna band karo," he whispered to me. Embarrassed, I looked down at my plate. "Happy birthday Antara," dad said. "Thank you," she said. After mom and dad gave her a gift, she sat next to me. "Kya baat hain, aaj salwar kameez?" I asked. "Kyun, main issme acchi nahi lagti?" she asked. "Bahut acchi lag rahi hain. Par tujhe toh yeh sab pasand nahi hain na? Toh phir?" I asked. "Mann kiya, pehn liya," she replied. "Acha, ab jaldi se kha le, phir jaana bhi hain na tujhe," I said. She nodded and ate her breakfast. After we ate we headed out. "Miss Kaul, aaj raat dinner pe chale gi?" I asked. "Par reception ki arrangements, woh kaun karega?" she asked. "Woh main aaj khatam kar lunga, tu bas yeh bol ki chalegi ya nahi?" I said. "Theek hain," she replied. "Chal hospital chalte hain," I said and we sat in the jeep.
