With only 9th pass my chweet halwai has put to shame many a IIM graduate today with his simple management principle. So am I wrong in telling if allowed to study my chweet halwai would have walked on the corridors of the prestigious IIM institutions. Well that is a different story altogether.
But I feel some managers of my organization can learn something from my chweet halwai. How he manages to earn respect from each and every person who works for him.
- First and foremost. Knowledge of the subject. Sooraj is an expert himself in sweet making. There are many managers who walks around as if they know it all, but does not have the basic knowledge
- He doesnt boast about his knowledge or put down his workers- He treats them with respect and understand their strength and slowly mentor and groom them
- They never know that when they are actually improving as he slowly and steadily nudges them to be perfect
- Does not have jealousy on his worker's success. Feels happy each time one of his worker successfully open the shop
As a true team leader he transforms the one who comes to him exactly what the corporate managers are supposed to do, but hardly 1 or 2% of them does. Rest either try to put down their sub ordinates, are afraid if the junior go beyond them or simply acts as postmasters between higher authority and lower level. I mean excel in art of delegation.
So my chweet halwai can indeed teach some values to these so called corporate managers
